Meh. This is my third (and least favorite) Gillian Flynn. Stick to Gone, Girl.

Meh.

I used to love Grisham books in the early days. They were page-turners with some good plot twists. This is the first Grisham book I've read in years; Maybe my tastes have changed or I'm grown into a book snob, but this didn't do anything for me.

Not really what I expected. I was more hoping for one heck of an amazing list of books to read, based on what book authors have enjoyed.

Great thriller, just could have cut out a third and been even better.

A 2.5 star rating would have been more accurate, but I rounded up. 3 stars for the interesting premise and page-turner story-telling. 2 stars for the voice of a 16-year old narrator not being very believable and some seeming inconsistencies that kept pulling me out of the story.

Meh. Not my genre.

At 50% progress through the book, I was still indifferent toward the plot line. And then Ben and friends declare themselves “from another universe” and it killed it for me.

Chalk it up to me being in a bad mood when I read the book, but I just didn't like it.

Wow. Beautiful story. I cried.

Felt like I should have enjoyed this more since it's a classic, but I didn't.

This isn't stellar literature from a writing perspective, but it's an important story that needed to be told. I'm hoping California state laws for child predators have been updated since the book was published.

I enjoyed this. It had a different feel from other Highsmith novels - maybe because it was set solely in America? But like all of her great characters, there's a moment when the character's thought process becomes a little twisted and the judgement thoroughly “off.”

Absolutely loved this. It's a quick read, cleverly written and witty. The characters fall a little too-obviously into their villainous or loveable categories and I guessed the ending long before I got there, but I didn't care. Enjoyed it all the way through.

I liked this. It's one of those books where you learn some good history and are entertained in the process. I found the politics and culture around prohibition particularly interesting.

It's in the vein of an Erik Larson book, but an easier read.

Fantastic read. Being a Fort Worthian, I especially enjoyed the historical references in the book to this area of Texas. Great story!

I wish I were more of a literary scholar. I wish I could appreciate the greatness of this novel and Flannery O'Connor, but alas I did not. While the writing itself was superb, the actual story didn't do much for me. If my AP English teacher was around to explain, maybe it woul have helped. :)

I listened to this book and would recommend it as an “audio read”, since it's read by Laura Bush. I enjoyed learning more about her life and a First Lady's perspective on the White House.

This book is freaking long! But it's worth it.. Can't put it down.

After taking a hiatus from reading multiple back-to-back Highsmith novels last year, it was great to return to her writing. Love her!

I gave it 4 stars because the story was a good little page-turner. I picked the killer out about halfway through the book, but still had just enough doubt to keep me turning.

This was my first Joe Lansdale novel and I would definitely pick up another.

I'd give it a 3.5 star if I could. Enjoyable little page turner, but nothing ultimately memorable.

Ridiculously long- I could have told the story in 1/3 the words. BUT it is a wonderful tale and glad to have conquered this classic.

I so wanted to like this book (it was a gift from someone who's reading tastes I admire), but I just couldn't get into it. Highly possible that the book really was great and it was just me. :/

This is my third Larson book to read (and enjoy). He has a knack for blending historical fact with narrative to create fascinating story lines.

Wreck your car to get to Barnes & Noble to snatch a copy. Awesome!
