It took me so much to read this one. It doesn't help that I was traveling and couldn't bring this book along with me. Anyway, I found this provoking, informative and revolutionary. It made me understand A LOT about emotions and reconsider everything I knew. My only complaint it's that I wanted more practical solutions about controlling emotions (the chapter Mastering Your Emotions was too short for me). But overall was a great reading.
I picked up this book because I want to read the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy, and I was told Ball Lightning was a sort of prequel. I don't know if it's true, but this book wasn't that amusing. The pace was slow, more hardcore sci-fi than I expected, and I turned out to be really interesting in the last chapters. I have mixed feelings for some characters (especially Lin Yun), but I wasn't impressed by the others either. I don't think character development was important in this book, so maybe that's the reason why I don't feel compelled for any of them. All in all, it was a decent read, and I'm definitely reading the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy because it seems to be way better than this book.
This was sooo boring at the beginning that I was ready to give up, but seeing so many good reviews made me wonder if the story could get better. I kept reading and near the end, the story became more interesting, but it isn't enough to make me change my mind about the rating... this book simply wasn't for me.

Despite I knew the main twist thanks to those people who like to spoil books, I was surprised by the story in general. I know it's kinda frustrating at the beginning because nobody says anything to Sakakibara, but the mystery unfolds in a very good pace, so I'm satisfied overall. Ayatsuji Yukito has gained another fan! I hope to get more of his books.
