liked at the end the gulf between what he knows and what he feels but he closes it with ease as he confronts the clergyman and I don't think I'm quite there yet
THE ILLUSTRATIONS!!!!!!! I love fairy tales but you can read just for that... gorjus
on a reread, my favs were “Howl”, “A Supermarket in California”, “America”, “Song” and “Wild Orphan”. I'm not the biggest fan of a few of the poems, but overall it's such an amazing collection.
Wow!!! seriously impressive...very very cool world building and an awesome story, I loved how the kiosk was a centre of light and colour (as well as the story's connecting point) in the visual world of the book.
made me think about video games and hospitals differently, though before reading I thought about hospitals only sometimes and video games barely at all. but the connection between the two that Zevin establishes is not something I had twigged and she writes it well. very endearing read.
3 but a nice 3 :)) i enjoyed it and the characters were very articulate if that makes sense. as in they felt like people i know and i felt that i readily understood the messages and personalities the author was trying to portray through them, not that they spoke with any particular eloquence or clarity.
loooved this one ate it up......ugh so intricately put together......such knowable and interesting characters.....series of unfortunate events vibes ESPECIALLY taking into consideration the final chapter which (by the way) was also vaguely creepy haha
-just went down the middle bc it was bad but obviously satire and as satire it was pretty funny
3.5 im so sorry to say but i enjoyed this one. the nesta/emerie/gwyn scenes were highlights and i like feyre and rhys a lotmore now they arent the main characters.
hugely engaging I just didn't like a lot of the prose and how all the characters speak in complex metaphors about the mountains and womanhood from the age of 4
(minor/vague spoilers imo but I have marked just in case people want to go in totally blind) Can we tell I have trouble with series......I think it has been almost exactly a year since I read the second book in this trilogy, which is probably why I enjoyed this one a little less, I wish I had read it sooner lol. But that aside it was such a good end to the series!! It was seriously just as strong as the other books, and if i had read it immediately after finishing the other two it definitely would have gotten 5 stars. The ending was sooo good for the characters and how everything had been tracking I was like ok cool WHAT NO ok yeah that makes sense :(..........farewell guys. Really good fantasy novel I will read her other ones for sure .........(see you in like 3 years r f kuang)
I really liked this, a fun murder mystery with just enough emotional impact, also the detailed environment of small town south otago scenery and social life was very fun to read. probably too much innuendo though, that could have been more subtle. reminded me a bit of the little friend, in the idea of children exploring a mystery and world too adult for them
