fantastic ending. stephen king is for sure great at what he does and all that. this isnt any classic masterpiece but it was definitely a very fun read and touches on great themes. i'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a fun read with great storytelling and you think the premise is fun
highly recommend book. it's written in such a unique and beautiful way, it tells such a poignant story about an Iranian boy's life, i'm blown away... it navigates around a plethora of stories, some more captivating than others, and by the end i can deeply understand the narrator and the experiences he tells about - even finding value in the moments where it almost lost my interest. well worth the read
accidentally deleted this review so gotta write a new one
this book was really cool and I still think about a lot of the themes it shows, some gripes with some things in the plot but if everyone read this book the world would be saved
there is so much that is beautiful and undeniably important about this book, but it was rough getting through it
uhhhhh..... sex...... knowledge..... hermitages... i have no valid reason or position to be in to properly justify my rating but I couldn't pay too much attention to it in class
i didn't even know this author also wrote because of winn dixie but wow i remember how much better this was than the borrowers back in like 2nd or third grade
THIS back in like 6th grade or so fr showed me the beauty of literature this is like a classic deserving a place among the ranks of the goats
i deleted this review too :(
remains my favorite book, not without its flaws, took so long to read, but like so good so crazy just highly recommend
read the graphic novel kinda version pretty fun book just would rather not read it again or something like that something veers me away from this book
wowwwwww i loved this, holly black once again did not disappoint with her world building and writing. the ending is crazy and riveting. a worthy sequel
i'm blown away by holly black's world building and writing and imagery and etc, this is a great and masterfully made story and book, i highly recommend it and 4.5⭐️ bc i'm leaving room for the other two books to be even better

such an incredible read, love this book so much, after a month or two it remains one of my favorites and such an easy recommendation of mine to anyone with an interest in imperialism or history or idk good books. great messages and rf kuang tackles such a huge issue so perfectly tbh
harrowing. depressing. etc. i like that it marginally expanded my vocabulary. anyway. lots of things about this book that can be important to take away. the narrator doesn't necessarily go through a spiritual awakening nor any epiphanies but nonetheless offers a beautifully told story of a perpetually dejected man and his experiences with an unforgiving life. i enjoyed the philosophical contemplations about “society” and “crime” and “sin”. beautifully ugly perspective of life. i like how the narrator actually doesn't die at the end of the book. frame device is whatever, the world building part of the book doesn't strike me as the most significant part. glad to get back into reading with this book. flowers for algernon next
oh yeah, and the misogyny was problematic but i ignored that. oops. and i love drug and alcohol addiction i wish it was real
