Lots of great historical information about food, cooking, and the difference between upstairs and downstairs. But very few pictures of the actual food made with the recipes, which makes the book less appealing as an actual cookbook.
A lovely and cozy read which I found difficult to put down, not because there was exciting action to follow but simply because of how sweet and inviting the characters were. Definitely a book I'll revisit when I want something comforting!
Just lovely. The multiple POVs really helped move the story along and added a lot of depth without being overly complicated, and the writing perfectly captures those teenage feelings of first love, feeling trapped by the expextations of your parents, and yearning for a path of your own.
I can't remember the last time a book (fiction or non-fiction) made me gasp out loud, but this one did! It was definitely a page-turner and I had to make myself put it down or else I would have gotten nothing else done.
I found myself almost unable to put this book down. It was compelling and haunting but also so full of hope. Highly recommended.
Cute and fun and interesting, although honestly the sex scene felt very out of place (not poorly written but not as in character as the rest of the book). But overall it was an adorable book with fun rom-com tropes.
Beautiful. The story unfolds at the perfect pace, making you want to both linger in the moment and keep reading to find out what happens next. Amazing character development, both for the main siblings and even for some characters that show up right at the end. Reid's best yet, in my opinion. Plus Julia Whelan does an incredible narration, with so much emotion. Just wonderful.
A charming, clever, and somewhat bleak story about old age, featuring an interesting cast of characters.
