This was good! I loved getting all the different perspectives from the recording transcripts. And the unreliable narrators.
NO WONDER XIE LIAN BLOCKED OUT HIS PAST MEMORIES. GOOD FUCKING GOD. And no one deserves a ‘fuck that guy' more than White No Face
I'm really struggling to rate this one. Simultaneously a summary of all the negatives of ballet, the figures that made the culture what it is today, and a personal look at the long lasting impact (both positive and negative) of growing up in ballet, specifically at one of “the best” ballet schools in the US. I think there will always be a dichotomy of ballet, but hopefully the culture gets better with each generation.
A talking sword should really be used to short-cut all mis-communication tropes. Where can I buy one? :P
This whole book is the “what is going on in the house of Commons” TikTok audio and the scene the cover is based on is chefs kiss perfect, no notes
APPARENTLY IM JUST GETTING ALL MY THERAPY THROUGH BOOKS. I REALLY NEED TO START READING THE BACK BEFORE I OPEN BOOKS NOW.
Idk if this book would have hit the same if I read it 6 months ago, but oh boy is this relatable. This book is definitely for all the hyper independent late 20-somethings that have let their job consume them. 10/10 no notes
This book took a bit to get in to but in the end I liked it. I liked the overlapping storylines and how they kind of related to each other. The lore of the woods was super interesting too.
This took me a bit to get into as the dual stories are seemingly unrelated at first. The concept of super fascinating, but the middle but seemed to drag. But I'm also a dummy and missed some big clues in the lead up to the twist at the end so it took me by more of a surprise than it should have
All that dark fantasy build-up for a cut scene???!!!! You've gotta be kidding me.
Wasn't a huge fan of the writing style either.
Honestly my biggest complaint is that JSC doesn't really do rovers and we def don't lead the Mars ones
Definitely the best of this series so far. Can't say much about how the characters' personalities relate to the gods. The premise was great and I'm a sucker for a close proximity romance. The multiple POVs were very well done. And of course a HEA.
I have mixed feelings about this one. It was sorta creepy, but not enough to prevent me from reading at night. It might have been better if I hadn't already read Mexican Gothic. It wasn't super long, which was nice, but I didn't really feel any attachment to the characters.
This series is rapidly becoming a comfort series.
I was a little confused on how they broke the story arcs but thank god it didn't end with a cliffhanger. Not sure if this is just an English translation thing but the character guide in the back is A+ work, all series should have one TBH.
i wasn't sure what to expect going in, but glad i picked this up. The multiple names were confusing at first but LOVED the reference guide at the back. It was adorable, would recommend
The Scum Villain's Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (Novel), Vol. 1
This is definitely my least favorite MXTX novel so far. The concept is interesting, but it took me a bit to get into it. It feels like I've had to keep less track of the individual characters (compared to HOB and Grandmaster) which I'm not really sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Also, apparently my local B&N is unique for having a whole display of Seven Seas books.
If I wasn't group reading this I'd have binged it in one sitting. The oblivious-ness is chef's kiss.
Aahh this was a cute grumpy/sunshine romance. Also that mis-communication at the end is definitely something I'd do.
This was the comfort fic I needed today.
Finished it in one sitting, cute, relatable, and surprisingly realistic.
Took me a few chapters to get into, but it's a solid enemies to lovers romance with enough plot to keep me entertained. Descriptions are a little fuzzy throughout, but the author relies on enough tropes that it's fairly easy to fill in details yourself. Not the best book I've ever read but I was entertained.
Why didn't she learn her powers?! Like come on she had all those books.
