I genuinely enjoyed the book. Considering my expectations from the story, I received much much more.
The book was ... Here goes nothing. I don't really know how to describe it. On the one hand I genuinely enjoyed the world and the characters and mostly unpredictable plot twists. Especially delicious was the change in the main character. On the other hand we have plot moving at the speed of retired turtle, thank gods not all the time, but first half of the book was difficult to get through.
All in all, the ending of the book left more questions than answers and I would like to know what happens next. I will continue with the series.
Could it be anything else than 5 stars? Of course no. With such characters, plotlines, world-building - not a chance.
I'm so glad that I've read this series and I will definitely continue with the other books set in this world.
Well, I'm half-done with the series now. That's the good thing about the book.
I really have difficulty with Ukrainian translation. I suspect that in English, this book is actually quite interesting for children. But translation is really awful. Each sentence feels weird and alien.
I have no idea how and when I'll read three last books, but sometimes I will.
The fairytales were so funny and interesting. Of course, the plot was predictable (fairytales, duh), but the writing was really good.
Of course, some stories I liked better, than the others. Unfortunately, the second story was too rushed (despite being the biggest in the book) and not as touching as the others. However, the other three stories were fantastic. And the humor in them was really the best.
Let's welcome my new favorite book.
Abundance of famous British humor and diary format couldn't leave me indifferent.
I so despise the books with animals, because the is always something cruel that happens to them.
But overall I more or less liked the book. There were some extremely cinematic moments.
The characters (at least most of them) were highly likable too. My favorite of them all was probably Eleanor. That is strange even for me, but she was probably the most adequate of them all.
The Mad Ship was not so easy for me to read. I had some difficulty with abundance of descriptions and overall slowness of the plot. Nevertheless, all of that was totally worth it. It was such a long time since I was immersed in the story so completely, that I was daydreaming about it.
And that is the most precious thing that the book can give to you.
Also, I just must mention the characters in this trilogy. All of them were crafted with so much love and precision. The development of Malta's character - standing ovation to the author. I believe that it requires a lot of patience not to just in one moment change the character's nature, but slowly, nurturing it with the events...
Next book - starting right now.
That was a cool ending and I liked it. I have no regrets reading this series whatsoever.
Even I'm surprised that I finished this series. All in all, maybe it wasn't all so bad. But I really don't know for which age it is suitable. The cats in this series are dying almost as often as characters in the Game of Thrones.
Probably half of my issues with the series were due to Ukrainian translation. I believe that the translator did all that he could, but the differences in languages sometimes are too big. Cat's names were really awkward in Ukrainian and it was impossible not to notice them.
It time to look the truth in the eyes. I do enjoy Stephen King's books.
Cell was no exception to that.
I have a certain weakness to the books that have little to no plot whatsoever but describe someone's everyday life.
That was entertaining and interesting. Turns out, not only I have no idea about a lot of things regarding universe :)
This book is not for everyone. Somehow it reminded me Alexandre Dumas's books, but with magic.
Let's make it short.
I hated the main heroine for her hysterics. She is a great example of how some small detail blows to gigantic problems in the woman's head.
If that love story was supposed to be romantic and self-sacrificing - sorry, can't see it from the XXI century.
The book was supposed to be a mystery, however, the only mystery I'm left with is why I have finished this book at all.
I'm not impressed. And that is tragic.
And even more tragic is that I bought the second book and have to continue with the series now.
I hardly can believe it, but I finished It. /insert fireworks/
Unfortunately, all I can say is that I expected more. Mostly I was more disgusted by the things in the book than scared. In addition, this one was way too long considering how little happend on most of the pages. Now I need a well deserved break from Mr. King.
I had some difficulties with the novel. Connecting with characters is still an impossible thing for me. But the story is fast-paced and so engaging. I even enjoyed the ending.
All in all, I think that this series is worty to continue. I actually want to see more of this world and to know what happens next.
