Heroes of the Fallen Lands: An Essential Dungeons & Dragons Supplement
A bit underwhelming. I wish it had more details on the classes, and better advice about character creation. It was well laid out, but felt a bit sterile.

A good issue. A few fantastic stories, snd a couple average ones, but nothing that I disliked.
The Left for Dead story was good, the Team Fortress stuff was pretty bad, and the Portal 2 story was too short.
I had seen descriptions of this novel as being Oceans 11 meets A Game of Thrones, and that fits very well to the first half or so. It almost becomes an organized crime story in the later parts.
This book has tons of action. Almost non-stop, the slower parts are few and far between. It also jumps back and forth in time a bit, telling back story at breaks in the action. I enjoyed those parts, the back story bits typically filled in info on what was about to happen in the main story line. A non-chronological timeline isn't an easy thing to pull off in a novel, and I felt Scott Lynch did a fantastic job.
I tend to enjoy novels in general, so my ratings skew high, but this book was a ton of fun, and well deserving of my 5 star rating. I look forward to reading future books in this series.
Not much better than ok. It is really short, so it has that going for it, it doesn't overstay it's welcome, but it seemed fairly predictable and not very original...
A fantastic fantasy novel.
I have to admit, I'm not sure I saw much ground broken here, and it used many typical fantasy tropes, but on the other hand, it was very well written, and seemed to have an interesting history, without being overwhelming. Many fantasy novels tend to have long history sections that nearly put me to sleep, but this story did not do that.
The characters were fun and felt like they had many layers to them. It seemed like they agonized over every difficult decision in a way that did not seem forced, but felt very real.
My only complaint has nothing to do with the story itself, but the fact that I had to go out and buy a physical copy of the novel :). There is no US Kindle version, and my local library did not have a copy. I hope to donate my copy to them, so others can find this wonderful book.
A different kind of fantasy novel, but I thought it was a interesting idea, and enjoyed not getting everything spelled out by the end. Lots of stuff left open ended. Really enjoyed how they treated magic usage.
Everyone isn't going to like this book, but I really liked it.
I enjoy Mur Lafferty's stories. While I haven't read much of it yet, I have listened to her Podcasted novels, and to her readings and occasional stories, on Escape Pod.
This story was enjoyable. I felt like the ending was way to predictable, but some of the ideas getting to that point were good.
Dr. Dinosaur is possibly the funniest super villain out there. I laughed outloud several times in that issue...
I had trouble getting into this book, but once I did, I enjoyed it quite a bit.I has the characters telling their backstories, and it does a good job of using different narratives, so the stories feel like they are being told by different people. I did enjoy some stories more than others, but that's ok.One major complaint, this book and its sequel, [b:The Fall of Hyperion 77565 The Fall of Hyperion Dan Simmons http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1329610795s/77565.jpg 1882596], were written as 1 book basically, so the first book ends at a very bad place if you aren't planning to jump right into the 2nd book...
Not my typical read, but it had some steampunk elements in it, which is a current favorite. It was pretty paranormal heavy for my tastes, but it was extremely well written, and a fun read.
The interaction between the leads was good, and while a bit more of a romance novel then my typical tastes, it was often funny, and worked well.
Sort of a more realistic, darker, Harry Potter. A good read, but it fell a little short of great to me. Having a difficult time putting my finger on why though, just didn't quite hit me in the right spots I guess. Will add more to this as my thoughts get more together about the novel :).
This book is dark. Very very dark. But an interesting read. It's not a fun book in any way, but it is a really well written, interesting book.
Not a huge zombie fan, but a really cool idea, telling individual war stories. A fantastic read.
I can see why people might think this is an amazing graphic novel, but I just didn't get it...
Wow. Incredible comic. This was the first 6 issues, and I am blown away. The story was great, but it left way more questions than answers, which is ideal in a series anyways.
The art is amazing too. A phenomenal start to this series, and now I have to go get the rest of them...
Through most of my reading of this, I was deciding to rate this a 3. It was ok, but the dialogue and thoughts of the characters were so bad and so stereotypical. Yet once I had finished, I really enjoyed the story. I'm not sure why, but I really want to read the other books to see where this all ends up, and that warranted a higher rating.
I have read very little of the “cosmic” Marvel stuff, the Silver Surfer and things like that...
This probably wasn't an ideal introduction to them :).
While I didn't understand some of the references, this book was still a good read. I laughed out loud a couple of times in the Nova miniseries bits, and would like to get my hands on the rest of the series.
Didn't dislike the book, but I would have enjoyed it more reading them as blog posts over an extended period of time, instead if consuming them all at once.
Very disappointing follow up to Ready Player One. Story was predictable, and the nerd culture references that made RP1 so much fun, felt forced and unnecessary in this novel.
An interesting old fashioned sci-fi novel, that really suffered once they get to Mars. Sadly that was 3/4 of the novel.
It also could have used some proofreading . I know they scanned it in, but a simple read through should have corrected many of the errors. I get that a few mistakes might get through, but numbers in the middle of a word indicates that little to no editing was done. Hopefully their future novels will be more properly finished.
My awesome cousin got me a copy of issue #1, personally autographed by Bill Willingham himself (or I beleive that's the autograph, these things are so hard to read sometimes...).
Can't wait to read this, I love the Fables series...
