This was a super short smut filled read. I enjoyed it for the most part, but WHOA the brother thing was a little out of left field! lol
Bah, this was almost the exact same plot as book one only with different main characters.
The hero(s) meet the heroine, she then finds herself in the middle of some trouble and they save her. They have a one night stand, then the heroine goes into the witness protection program. Some months later the hero(s) see/run into the heroine and she has given birth to their baby(s). The baddies (same ones for both book one and two) go after the heroine, she gets kidnapped, the hero(s) and the team save her, they get married and have a HEA.
This book was to similar to book one, so I doubt I will continue on with this series...
Sigh..I don't know what to say about this one. I really didn't like anything about it at all.
The author made the heroine so bitchy, and uptight. She had thick black rimmed glasses, wore horrible to big for her clothes that didn't show an ounce of skin. Flat boots, wore her hair in a “severe” bun, and wore a garish orange shade of lipstick. This is how the hero describes her through practically the whole frigging book! In fact he only really makes a move on her after she gets a make over.
Check out this following quote..
“He stared. Speechless, his voice died in his throat and he could only look at the woman before him that was no longer Ella. She was stunning.”
SOOOO..ya. Add in the fact that Connor is kind of a douche noodle through 98% of the book AND they both go on dates with other people (though nothing sexual happens) pretty much right to the end, this just didn't work for me on pretty much any level.
This was just OK.
I didn't like Thor or Perry to be honest. They wouldn't consider Lexie as a mate because she wasn't “Dragon Heart” (which BTW was repeated like a gazzilion times in this book!!) They just came across like a couple of stuck up jerks. Lexie also annoyed me because she knew they thought she wasn't good enough to mate, but still went ahead and slept with them. Have a little self respect chick!
Overall disappointed in this one.
LOVED this one!
It's been awhile since I read the Black Brother's Trilogy. I remember loving it though, so I thought I'd give this one a try, and I loved ever dirty sexy angsty second of it!
My only complaint, I wish it was more then a novella!
Loved this one! Pipe is one hot sexy mofo! Can't wait for Ralf's book. I wonder if it is going to be a menage between him, Sarah, and Knife??
This book was SO bad, it was AWESOME! It is nothing but an over the top cheesy daddy kink smutfest of epic proportions. Sex scene after sex scene with a little plot in between. You know those totally cheesy horror movies that are just SO BAD, but you can't stop looking, and by the end you realized that loved every frigging second, ya, that would be this book!
How can you not love a book where the heroine losses her virginity to a cucumber!? That's right folks, she was deflowered by a vegetable!!
“I'd thrust the cucumber into my aching pussy”
The Santa kink.. pure awesomeness!!
“I dressed as Santa, had just performed oral sex on a woman who looked like an angel...all in front of a Christmas tree.”
“Babygirl, Santa wants to see you ride my cock!”
How can you not love a book with such greatness!!
I will admit I was concerned for the heroine and thought Max should have taken her to a DR to see about all the liquids that kept flowing out of her body!!
Anyways..as cheesy a smutfest as this was, I still enjoyed the heck out of it. I even squeezed a tear or two out over the ending!
3.5 Stars
I usually am not to fond of the whole ex turns up pregnant, so I am going to leave the woman I love to marry the bitchy crazy (cause they are ALWAYS bitchy & crazy) ex and claim I am choosing my child. which is exactly what the premise of this book was. That being said, they make great reads when you are in the mood for a angsty heartbroken heroine. Which I was...
I surprisingly really enjoyed this one! It was well written, the plot flowed nicely. I never felt the need to skim. The secondary characters were well written and interesting. It had just the right amount of angst. There was push/pull, but I felt it was appropriate for the story.
I liked Derek considering I think the reason he left Lindsey was stupid, but that is just my opinion in general with that particular plot device. I felt he groveled, and understood what he did hurt not only Lindsey, but himself and Lisa. He also didn't steamroll back into Lindsey's life, but pushed, and then backed off when she asked. He was a pretty likable character. I really liked Lindsey also. I felt her pain at what Derek had done, the lies etc. She was a strong heroine, and didn't just fall back into his arms. He had to work at getting her to trust him again.
Considering this appears to be the final book in the series, I was a little disappointed that we don't get an epilogue about this couples future. I would have liked to have been giving a peek into the future with marriage and babies and all that. The book felt a little incomplete without it.
Overall though I enjoyed this one, and will probably check out the books in this series.
I liked this one, but didn't love it.
I'm not really sure why. I liked Cam and Miriam just fine, along with all the side characters. I guess I just never got into the story. I wasn't crazy about the whole “kidnapped by a drug cartel” story line. I never really felt the connection between the H/h like in the first book. I think the action aspect of the story took over to much, leaving the romance on the back burner.
I dunno, I really like this author so I'll continue with the story. This one just wasn't one of her best IMO.
Side Note: I could have done without the whole “fuck buddy” scene. It wasn't bad, but I didn't see any reason why it was even part of the story? It really served no purpose in moving the story forward.
I liked this one, but it didn't pull me in the same way the other two books I recently read from this author did. Both characters were likable, but I felt it dragged in places, so I did find myself skimming to get to the end.
SO holy WOW was this book good! Amazingly well written. It had a ton of feels, and was actually full of humor. It was sexy as fuck also! Belinda and Amber's mother were SO funny.
I hated what Abel did to Amber and Caleb, and if he hadn't already been dead I would have killed him myself. There is sort of some redemption of his character at the end, but I still wasn't feeling his reasoning or actions. It cause to many years of pain for Amber and Caleb.
Both Amber and Caleb were likable characters. Both fell in love when they were 15, but then circumstances (and Abel) tore them apart. Amber went on to marry her douche bag hubby she catches cheating, and Caleb traveled, and got married/divorced. They are reunited and sparks fly again.
I was really amazed at how well this book was fleshed out considering it's a novella. It felt like a complete full length novel to me. There was a little background on the characters which is sometimes missing in novellas. The side characters were great also. I hope Belinda gets a book, she was a HOOT!
Overall, I was really impressed with this one!
I liked this one.
The World building was awesome, the characters where good. It was an enjoyable read, but I don't feel compelled to go right into book two at this point. I didn't particularly like Kai in book one. I'm sure i'll go back to this series at some point though! :)
Words cannot even express how awesome this book was! I laughed so hard, and so often, I think I broke something! lol
Do not pass go! Do not collect 200 dollars! JUST READ THIS BOOK! I can't wait to see what is coming next..I'll just leave you with the following diddy!
“Your father's safe word is donuts”, she muses. “But it's always so confusing. I never know if he wants me to stop spanking him or if he's just hungry.”
This was a super sweet read!
I loved Jake, he was a sweet and sexy chef covered in tats...yummy! I was worried at first that I wouldn't like Ella, for a short bit at the beginning she came across a bit prissy and cold, but that changed quickly and I ended up liking her.
The plot flowed nicely and there were some laugh out loud moments (the veggie pun discussion was HILARIOUS) I am not sure I would go so far as to say this was a “slow burn” but you don't get any sexy times until slightly over halfway through the book. It's very low angst, with only one incident near the end that wraps up fairly quickly, and yes, I shed a tear or two! lol The secondary characters where interesting, and amusing at times. I am hoping that Dakota will get her own book sometime soon!
My only negative with this book was I really wanted an epilogue. I wanted to see them married with babies and where they were at in their careers. It felt like it ended rather abruptly after the I Love You's were said Like I said though, maybe Dakota is going to get a book and we will see more of this couple in that book?? Fingers crossed in any case!
Overall I really enjoyed this one, it's sweet, it's low angst, no OW drama...perfect!
So color me surprised, but I really liked this book!
Usually I am not to keen on second chance romances where the hero and heroine are best friends, and the heroine is in love with the hero and he secretly likes her also, but doesn't act on it. Fast forward 10 years and they meet again and the heroine is willing to take whatever scrap the hero will give her.
Ya, that scenario usually annoys the crap out of me, plus add in some OW drama and I am amazed at just how much I ended up enjoying this. lol Enjoy it I did though. There were a couple things I wish we would have been told about in more detail. I would have liked to read the scene where Shane rejected Mya before he left for yen years. I would have also liked a few more details about what happened to them both during that 10 year separation. We also never hear anything about his father's funeral, which is surprising since his father's death was the whole reason he came back. I think it would have been a good way to show what the feelings of the town were towards Shane and what his father did?! Also the situation with Alene was pretty vague, and could have used a better explanation on why she needed the money etc.
So I think a few things could have been more fleshed out, but the writing sucked me right in though, the side characters were interesting, and I can't wait to read Mike's and Kirstin's book.
So, 4 stars for this surprisingly engaging book!
I liked this one OK, I didn't love it though.
I found Jamie a bit of a doormat, not with Lime's so much, but just with everyone else. I don't know, just didn't love her character much. Lime's I liked better, but I just found the whole story frustrating on some level. I just didn't really connect with either character I guess. :(
It's hard to put into words why I guess, but just didn't love this one. It's totally safe though. No mention of either one of their pasts, and they used condoms until the end.
I sure do love me a book about a secret society and black magic. Throw in a bit of history and an atmospheric setting, and I am guaranteed a good time.
My only complaint is I thought that it wrapped up a TAD bit too conveniently. For a secret society that has lasted so long, they sure were taking down pretty effortlessly. Overall though it kept me turning the pages, so it's ALL good.
Oh man this book was SO flipping good! This was totally me whilst reading...
This would have been a total 5 star read for me had it not been for a couple of things. Liya was funny, and feisty, but to be honest bugged the ever loving hell out of me with all the pushing away. I have a REALLY low tolerance lately for heroine's that push away perfect heroes, or utter (as the case was here) “Let's just be “fuck buddies”. That in combination with the truly (IMO) dumb reason she was doing the whole pushing away thing, knocked it down a star!
That aside, I ADORED this book. I loved all the side characters (and there were a ton) and I hope every one of them gets a books, well maybe except Josh because I had to hear to much about his man-whore ways! lol It was also funny as hell, and the sexy times were SMOKING, or maybe that was me after reading them! ;)
Caleb was PERFECTION, alpha, but sweet, and he never gave up on Liya even thought I thought at times he deserved better. AND, he wasn't a man-whore! It had been months since he last had sex. The plot flowed nicely, and I never felt the need to skim.
No OW/OM drama, they didn't use condoms, but had the “are you on the pill/I'm clean talk” It's not mentioned how long it has been for Liya sex wise, but I got the feeling it had been awhile. Her past is briefly mentioned as it's a part of the reason for her pushing away.
Overall I was really impressed with this author and can't wait for Nikki and Jake's book!!
I got a quarter way into this thing and couldn't continue. The writing was giving me a headache, and Vanna had the personality of a wet dishcloth. lol
This is totally me when a new Fiona Davenport book comes out...
I loved this book! It was great... Alpha – Insta-Love – Hot Sexy Times – Babies – Fabulous Epilogue
Can't wait to read the next one, though I am SO over step-brother books, but I'll have faith in Miz Davenport to make it good!!
Wow, I am batting a thousand on less then stellar books today!
This book started off interesting. A 25 year old virgin goes to an office party to loose her virginity, now I am not to sure why she chooses an office party? Seems a bar or club would be a better option, but hey, what do I know?? She meets Jason, they go to his hotel room, sexy times commence. He finds out she is a virgin, and pulls the classic “dick move” and gets mad, stopping the sexy times. Alas he can't seem to stay away from her and the story plays out.
OK, so first of all I disliked Sarah, she was just so robotic in every interaction, no emotion towards this guy, no longing for him. She was basically written like a dude in this story. She dumps him, well more like ends “things” with him. They really have no relationship other then partial sex, and one complete sex act. They never go out on a single date, or really spend any time together. I have no clue why Jason was remotely hung up on her??
This brings us to the insanely abrupt ending. It's not a cliffhanger, but with a very few pages left, and they were still broken up, I was beginning to get worried. I mean Sarah didn't even act like she missed him or anything?? Then BAM, her friend brings her to Jason's place, he has a romantic dinner waiting, and he says he'll wait until she finishes her studies to give this a chance if she wants the same, they agree.
THE END
I was like WTF? That's it?? Blah...don't waste your time on this one!!
3.5 Stars
I REALLY REALLY REALLY love this author!!
The first two books in this series I enjoyed a tad more then this one. This one seemed a bit to hyper-drive and I didn't get the same feeling for the relationship that I did in the first two. I think I would have enjoyed it more had the relationship had more time to develop.
That said, I still enjoyed the heck out of it!!
