This has to be the best mind-f*ck I have read to date.
A mix between 1984, Fahrenheit 451 and a deep look at our personal phycology of happiness.
Become who you are by growth. Find the power of failure.
Encourage the characteristics that embody growth.
When we ask ourselves who we would have been in WWII we often put ourselves in the place of hero.
What if we were instead caught and forced into a death camp.
By reading this I came out stronger in my beliefs that we choose our destiny despite all life gives us to work with we must choose “...the attitude that we take toward unavoidable suffering”B
A great read for a skeptic or religious person. Follow this thought experiment to get some deep introspection into how you operate in the world and how the world operates around you.
Really good points on how we can become aware of our attention and triggers that can take it away from us.
This book is not for the weak of heart. Jim Stockdale has had a life that makes most men's lives pale in comparison. He breaks down his values and explains how he dealt with hash circumstances and how those ordeals made him. He leans heavily on stoicism and the writings of Epeticus.
Not a lot of books I go back to read again. I'm glad I did with this one.
David Farland gives each character depth and unique insights that fantasy books sometimes lack.
Thank goodness this is only the beginning. A rich new world by Brandon Sanderson. I look forward to the next books.
Read when I was younger and had no idea what impact it had on me. When I read this again I found that I had been telling stories from this book for years. The second time through the message really hit home.
A vital read for those who want to create fast turn arounds on projects and know their potential work velocity.
How important is the information we keep?
Is it worth the disparity in our population?
Wouldn't we all be happier if nobody was smarter than anyone else?
Well worth the read to dig in and look at myself and how I can grow and see my blind spots.
The book flows easily (written as a story) and helped me understand the connections between my knowledge and the wisdom of leadership.
Woah, good way to step back and look at the world from a “things will change & your ability to take the hit and get stronger” perspective.
10,00 hours is not simply a basic time requirement for mastery. This book addresses knowing how to learn, escaping plateaus and become the absolute best at your chosen field of expertise. It also debunks seeing others as simply ‘talented' and shines the light on what it takes to make it ‘look easy'.
