I knew that he was gonna have a bad time being a cockroach but I was not prepared for the fact that people would tell him he still needed to go to work as a cockroach. True hell.

some things are really funny on reread like Finnicks seeming obsession with bread and Katniss being oblivious to everyone flirting with her.
Beetee, Wiress and Mags are Sooo good. the bit where it describes Haymitchs games is iconic. I love and hate it.
there's so much nudity in this book?? like not only is there the famous Johanna scene but she's also naked during training and at one point the main characters all lose their outer clothes and are just in underwear for the rest of the games? what??
Soooo funny rereading this now that I understand what an unreliable narrator is because the first time I read this I took it 100% at face value that Peeta was smart and manipulating the Capitol audience by having it look like they're in love but now I realise Katniss is just a cynical person and Peeta was madly in love with her the whole time. She keeps being like 'he's sooo good at manipulating everyone' meanwhile Peeta is just crying because he's saddd.
Haymitch in this hits so hard after reading SotR.
Read the whole thing just waiting for Odysseus and Penelope to reunite <3 love their love.
Odysseus is such a dramatic bitch there's so many times he lies when it doesn't even benefit him.
Really wanted to like this a lot more but some of the characters (especially Padmini) felt shallow. Would hugely recommend to anyone who likes Neil Gaiman books like Neverwhere and American Gods because it's of the same ilk (although I think I prefer Jemison's punchy way of writing action). It did hit on a couple pet peeves for me though (eg. Bel talks in a very stereotypical English way not really representative of how people in our area speak).
I felt like I was entering another world when reading this. Made me think of Britain's colonial crimes and how the ongoing effects are often swept under the rug and overlooked.
Very weird with delightful characters. Plot is pretty difficult to follow. Love the movie and this didn't disappoint but it is different in a fun way (they go to Wales!!)
This book had no business being as difficult to read as it was. I do continue to love the world-building, and Lazuli, Beckett and Myles are great additions to the fowl canon.
I love the mystery and the style of this but i really lost track of what was going on by the end
Would be sooo improved if it had pictures of some of the weird shit she describes. Read this with a v mucus-y cold for the 4D experience.
