What a lovely YA book! I listened to this as a free book from SYNC free summer audiobook program (outstanding books!) and I'm glad I did.
The writing is clever and witty, sharp and concise. The three narrators did an exceptional job.
A wonderfully entertaining story about teenagers, friendships, insecurities as well as dealing with racist issues.
The writing is smart, concise and witty. I encourage you to listen to the book as the narrator's Spanish is awesome.
Loved this great free book from audiosync.
WOW! What a descriptive book! The title is misleading (in a good way) until you are half way through the book.
Love these little, mini short stories. When well-written, as this one is, they pack a punch.
This was a free book from Amazon first reads.
Go get it and the other 6 in the A Point in Time series.
sweet
Another clever short story about sacrifice, heartbreak and triumph. Plus, who doesn't live a happy ending. Love this cool collection.
superb
What a lovely story about a piano player who lost her groove and then got it back. Well narrated too.
Wickedly smart writing
These short stories have a wonderful twist. I can see how this author was nominated for an award. Outstanding writing.
Required reading
This should be required reading. Learning more about this actress was a revelation. Never underestimate grit and luck. Awesome book.
average
It is not the strongest nor compelling writing. I'm being a bit generous with 3 stars. I'm glad this wasn't longer.
sweet
What a lovely story about a man and his relationships. Not just relationships with people, but with the objects in his house. Well written, exquisitely paced, and a super short novel worth every moment of your time.
As an adoptee, I can understand her confusion and pain. However, she was raised well so I don't understand her animosity towards Steppie.
WOW - tough read. How do you juggle wanting one's freedom and hold onto traditions? How do you break free of stereotypes and gender roles.
Wonderful short story. I plan on reading her other works.
What an awesome audiobook. I loved this so much. There are lots of deep themes here: indigenous issues, COVID-19, BLM and George Floyd to name a few. Throw in a haunted book store and you never know what's coming next.
Louise is such a gifted storyteller. The book was vivid, funny, heart wrenching and informative. Loved it.
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the 80s references. I can't wait to watch the movie. Great sci-fi. Love it when the bad guys get it in the end!
Holy cow - if you think your day was bad? This dude is unbelievable. The book is 100x better than the movie.
I thoroughly enjoyed this richly-written memoire. I happen to know the extended family and worked at the private high school she attended so I was familiar with lots of this book.
What I loved most was that I learned a lot about food, geography and Italian. I wished I had read this on an e-reader so I could instantly look up many of the words and expressions Gabrielle wrote.
Highly recommend. Just loved it.
