I picked up this anthology for Alpha & Omega, hoping to find some new Urban Fantasy authors along the way. Unfortunately, the other three novellas were mediocre, overdone to the point of ludicrousness, and outright erotica.

I knew from the synopsis that this would be a gory book, but I did not expect how gruesome it would be. Rape, mutilation, sexism (going both ways), and unlikable characters made this challenging to finish.

This book just didn’t resonate with me. The lead pair ran hot and cold, and the errors around the wedding never gelled into the comedy of errors that was the author’s goal.

Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairytale because it is the one where the couple's love doesn't happen at first sight. I am always interested in reading an author's take on the classic tale and how they see the couple coming together. I read several glowing recommendations for this book and was excited to give it a try. Unfortunately, my only thought as I closed the book was, "What a waste of potential."

The Princess Bride has been one of my favorite movies for decades. The book has been languishing on my bookshelf for nearly as long. While what makes the film great is there, numerous extraneous tangents and long expository interludes ruin the book's flow and destroy the experience.

These two certainly are randy. Masturbation and sex take up much of the novella. Questions that are raised by what little plot there is are never answered. If you are looking for a raunchy read, this one works well; otherwise, I would look elsewhere.

This novella has Home Alone vibes as Beatrix finds that she missed the carriage taking her family to Abingdon Hall, leaving her alone in London with Merrick Hart, who she has loved for years. Bea is headstrong, stubborn, and an absolute brat. Merrick knows that returning Bea's feelings will destroy his life as he works for her protective brother (who happened to forget her in London). They did not mesh well as a couple, and I quickly lost interest in their antics.

This book presents itself as a take on Pride and Prejudice or a comedy of errors and fails miserably on both counts. A grating writing style only compounds the problems caused by a cast of manipulative characters in a series of events that get progressively crueler.

The intro was the best part of the book. A horrible male lead with a bad attitude destroys the story.

The third Landover novel has a bumpy start but ends up as an entertaining read. I loved the character growth in Ben and Questor, and spending more time with Miles made me really like him as a character.

The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes is a fun, captivating look at the next generation of Holmes and Watson. While some of the repeated names were a little offputting, the story and characters more than made up for it.

I was expecting much better from Christine Feehan than what this book provided. Unfortunately, this book was excruciating to get into and didn't hold my attention until well into the second half.
