Nicole Garcia has done it again. I love her words, the way she blends serious subjects with humour and light-heartedness really works well. I couldn't help but love it. Her writing always captures my attention and my heart. This book was sweet and charming, and emotional. But it was also hilarious. And steamy, oh yes, the steam was there, not that I ever doubted it. This is the perfect single mother story, I haven't read many, all the single parent stories I seem to come across are single fathers, so this was a nice change. It doesn't sugar coat Madison's situation, she's a struggling single working mum and that shows throughout the story, which only made it more real.
The cover? Holy hotness. I love this cover so much. Especially the gift tag with the narrators' names on the audio edition, that was such a cute touch.
So many wonderful characters in this book. I loved them all... except for Mitch, he's not nice at all, I hated him.
Ryder is all the things. I want to know why my delivery guy is nothing like him. He's funny, charming, sexy and caring. The way he is with Mads children is just swoon He's the type of guy every single mother hopes they will meet.
Madison is such a sweet woman, she's got so much going on, it's a wonder she's even functioning. But she is, and she's caring for her boys and doing all she can, it's beautiful. I was so happy to see her open herself up to some happiness with Ryder.
The children are the cutest things, especially Aiden, he plays such a pivotal role in their story and I loved how that was conveyed. Oh, oh, and Tyler, he needs a HEA too, he is the sweetest and funniest person ever. I think we all need a Tyler in our lives.
I loved how their relationship built and progressed. It was beautiful. Ryder at first was just into the pretty woman he'd met, nothing wrong with that, but once he spent a little time with Madison it was obvious he was falling for her and her kids. Madison tried to fight it but thankfully Ryder was persistent, and he worked his way into her heart. The children played such a huge part of their relationship and the way that was handled was perfection, the worries Madison had made perfect sense. It didn't stop me from cursing her though. The little angst was suited to the story and thankfully didn't last too long.
I do love a duet narration and Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross always deliver. Always! Their voices blend so well together, I was definitely looking forward to hearing how they were going to perform these characters and they were perfect as Madison and Ryder. Wen also did a brilliant job voicing seven-year-old Aiden and I must say, it was those scenes, between Ryder and Aiden that I had the most reactions too. It was just beautiful. Emotional, but beautiful. Kai, I adored how she chose to voice Madison, it was a little deeper than I'm used to hearing from her and it worked really well for the character and showed another side to her talent. As for the steamy moments, sheesh, can these two perform a sex scene with conviction. I listened to this audio in a day, I just couldn't put it down. The production was fine with no issues.
Summer Bennett is a romantic, she's helped many of her siblings find the one, but doesn't hold out hopes for herself after many failed attempts. She's content to lather her family with love and affection and spread the love where she can, including a group home where love is lacking. Enter Alex Westbrook he's a Hollywood heartthrob wanting to give back, he's nothing like Summer imagined and everything she could want, and Alex thinks the same of Summer, if only he hadn't signed a contract forbidding a relationship between them, or with anyone. Can they overcome the hurdles they face? Can love truly conquer all?
In the summer of 2017, I was introduced to Layla Hagen and her Bennett Family Series in a takeover Layla did in Brenna Aubrey's reader group on Facebook, and I am so grateful because this series has become one of my very favourites. Each book is different and stands by itself but is connected to the overall series. They're each beautiful, charming, funny and sexy. Every time I read (or listened) to a new one it felt like a visit from a friend, or better yet... family. I felt like I was made a part of their family, an honorary adopted Bennett if you will. Which makes this review extremely bittersweet for me, I wanted to read it so bad but at the same time I wanted to make it last, I knew Summer's book was going to be the last in the Bennett Family series, but still, I hoped I wouldn't have to say goodbye to them.
Layla's writing is captivating and even though I've just finished I want to reread/ listen to them all again. And you know what? Once the final couple of books are out on Audio that's exactly what I'm going to do, have a listen from the start and spend more time with one of my favourite fictional families. In fact, I might even try to rope Marta over at Mammie Babbie into doing a buddy read with me - well, she can read, and I'll listen. It's how our buddy reads usually go. This was the perfect way to finish the Bennett Family series. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. It was sweet and beautiful. Light-hearted. light on the drama - a little misunderstanding that was sorted almost straight away. It was just beautiful.
Alex, swoon, let's just talk about him for a quick minute. He is all the things. If you're looking for a book boyfriend that will treat you like a queen and sweep you off your feet you need not look any further, Alex Westbrook is your guy. He's sexy, man, is he sexy. He has that Hollywood charm down to an art, but he isn't arrogant with it. He made a decision at the start of his career that wasn't the best and now he has to fight and risk losing everything to keep the woman he loves... and he will because that's what heroes do. I adore Summer Bennett, she's always been one of my favourites throughout the series and I was so excited for her to get her own happily ever after. She is such a sweetheart and knows how to handle herself. I don't think Summer is ever happy unless she is helping someone. It was so lovely to see someone in her corner and taking care of her for a change. I don't think the steam level was as high as previous books, but it worked for these characters, everything about them was sweet and thought-out. Gentle and respectful. Their relationship and its progression were simply beautiful.
S.C. Daiko has written a very sexy story about a polyamorous relationship and handles it brilliantly, showcasing how beautiful a relationship can be, and the subject of love is love regardless of who is doing the loving. I very much loved that about this book. Eleri is sweet and innocent, Luke and Gabe are not innocent, but they are sweet. I loved their relationship with each other. The story was heart-warming and attention-grabbing. It had me swooning in parts, laughing out loud and sighing. My only thing about the story that I sort of struggled with was towards the end when something happens involving the children and I didn't feel like Gabe and Luke's reactions were strong enough. I guess I wanted anger and emotion or something and it just lacked it for me. Of course, as always, that's just personal taste.
This book is full of characters that you'll just fall in love with. They're each so different but so charming. The way Gabe and Luke know each other so well and their opposite attracts appeal is very endearing.
Luke is a sweetheart, to everyone. You know from the get-go that he's interested in Eleri but he controls himself, the love he has for Gabe just shines through. He is a light-hearted guy that likes to enjoy himself. Even his job is fun. He dominant but not as much as Gabe. He had me chuckling more than once in this book.
I loved Gabe so much. He's the upper-class British gent that is pretty stern, he works for a law firm and he has his ways and likes it, he's not looking for a change and is the more dominant of the two men. But seeing the change in him is wonderful to experience as he becomes accustomed to letting a woman into his life and heart.
Eleri is such a sweet girl, so innocent. Her attraction to Gabe and Luke is instant but she tries to hide it and not let it affect her job. I think she was also a very brave woman and we don't see that nearly enough. She goes through quite the transition in this book and it is lovely to watch that change from sweet girl to sexual woman.
The children are so freaking adorable, I just loved them. As a former nanny, this story called to me...no, before you ask nothing like this ever happened to me, sheesh, get your mind out of the gutter! The kids really added another layer to this story, a sweet layer that I think worked really well.
So, this book contains a lot of sex, and I do mean a lot. I'm talking MM, MMF, and MFM. If that isn't your thing, you probably won't like this book and would be better off passing it by. The scenes are written incredibly well and will definitely make you hot under the collar, especially with Hugo in your ears. I spent a fair about of this book blushing, I kid you not. However, it felt very organic to the characters and the story.
This was my first listen from Hugo Wylde and I don't think it will be my last. The narration was enjoyable. He really brought these characters to life. I liked Luke and Gabe and he performed them wonderfully. Hugo blew me away with his performance of Eleri. The range of voices and accents in this book is handled really well and each character sounded unique, I never struggled to wonder who was being performed. Hugo performed upper-class British, Welsh, Yorkshire and middle-class British with ease. The overall production was well done. One small line repeats once in chapter 18 and the chapter headers for Gabe seemed more drawn out than necessary, especially as it was only in the chapter points and at no other time. The silence between chapters was longer than I'm used to, and I did keep checking at the beginning to see if my app had turned itself off but I did get used to it.
Layla Hagen never ceases to impress me with her writing talent. This series hit me with all the feels for so many reasons. It makes me laugh, cry and, swoon in equal measure. Just when I think she's covered every trope and every subplot possible she comes back and hits me with another. There is a subject in this book which is very close to my heart and although I felt to was too fast (that's just because of my personal experience and I know I'm being vague but no spoilers! – but it's the epilogue so when you read it feel free to send me a message to discuss), the rest was just perfect and highlights the subject very well.
Layla, Layla, Layla. Every time I read another Bennett book I think it's the best yet. I've gone through so many book boyfriends with this series that I'm starting to worry about myself. Daniel was no exception. I just adored him, Blake is still in the lead though, but his twin is right behind him. Those party brothers sure turned out well. I haven't read many second chance romance books but after this one maybe I need to start. Even if that trope isn't your thing, I think you'll like this book. Although the book is a standalone and you can dive right in with Daniel and Caroline's story I'd recommend starting at the beginning because this is a wonderful series with interconnecting characters and you're going to want each siblings story. Bring on Summer's!!!!!
Caroline Dunne we've seen here and there in the other books and I was always intrigued by her. She was obviously still in love with Daniel, but I always assumed the feeling wasn't mutual. Her life has changed since they were together, and she has worries she didn't have before. I enjoyed that aspect of the story and it gave her character that bit of internal conflict. I could relate to Caroline more than most of the female characters in this series. Her concerns about bringing up a certain issue she has hits very close to home. I felt a real connection to her and must admit I shed a few tears on her behalf.
Daniel Bennett hasn't really played that big of a part in the other books, except his incident in Your Alluring Love, so although I was excited to read his book I also didn't know what to expect. Being Blake's twin, I had high hopes though...and he's a Bennett! Gah! He is a total sweetheart. The way he was with Caroline, was just adorable, he had those cheeky yet charming traits down pat. He felt very British to me. Maybe it was some of the phrases he used, I dunno, but it suited his character well.
I adored their relationship so much. The way they knew each other but were also learning about each other. The things that had changed. The respect they had for one another was beautiful to witness and how they didn't push the other and gave themselves the right to be happy again. There was no big break up like in a lot of romances, they knew what they wanted and what they'd be losing so they worked at it. That's not to say they didn't have any conflict to contend with, just that it wasn't blown up, one of my pet peeves in romance fiction is lack of communication and thankfully that isn't the case with this book – I didn't have to shout at the characters. It was simply beautiful. The sex scenes were sexy as f*** and played such an important role in the story that it never felt like too much or misplaced. And boy, did they make up for lost time in the bedroom department. Talk about steaming up my kindle. When Caroline finally tells Daniel about the secret she has I was incredibly emotional and if I didn't like Daniel before, his reaction would have made me fall madly in love with him. It's a testament to Layla Hagen's skill that she can evoke such reactions from her readers.
I have to say, this review isn't the best, I can't do this book justice, nothing I write could begin to express how much I loved it, how much it meant to me to spend time with these characters. It's beautiful.
I loved Three Blind Dates, loved it, however, this book, this book is better. Yep, I said it, the second book in the series is better than the first. GASP! Insert shocked face here It's a complete standalone. Meghan Quinn takes a funny storyline and makes it so much more. The way this book is written makes it so special. I expected the humour, I didn't expect the emotional connection. This is a romantic comedy, it's hilarious, I'm talking laugh out loud funny, what I didn't expect was to cry, and by cry, I mean sob. Why you ask? Without going into too much detail... because, spoilers, it's because I can relate to Rylee and what her thought process and feelings are so much that it's just instinctual to cry - for her, for what she's going through and for myself. More often than not a subject comes up in a book and a quick fix is used to get the couple their HEA, that wasn't the case here, Meghan went and in just a paragraph, maybe two, showed the obstacles and restrictions they would come across and I adored that, it was real. She didn't just give them the HEA without showing the difficulties it could and would involve, but, before you hit those panic buttons, it does include a HEA.
We first met Beck Wilder in Three Blind Dates, he was The Rebel. Although I liked him well enough, he wasn't my choice in that book. Clearly, I knew he was destined for bigger and better things. He is perfect for Rylee and she was perfect for him. He's sexy and funny, he's sweet and endearing. I dare you not to swoon over him. He was just, sigh, he was lovely. The final few chapters just, wow, it was a swoonfest. His outlook on life is refreshing and made for an interesting backdrop to the storyline, his backstory was eluded to but took time to come to light, I really liked that about it, and once it did, his insecurity over telling Rylee was an important part of the story. Rylee Ryan was such a fantastic character, I think so many people are going to be able to relate to her. At one particular part I was sobbing and shouting ‘I see you and I hear you and I feel you. I GET IT!!!' of course, as more details came to light it was different, it became something more than even I thought it would, it was heart-breaking. She is brave, sweet and funny. Beautiful, and strong. She's the type of person you can imagine being friends with.
Their story is one of beauty. It's funny and sexy, and sweet and full of acceptance and understanding. It's also heart-breaking and uplifting. It filled my heart with happiness and I didn't want it to end. I loved that is was more of a slow burn and we really got to experience their relationship change and grow as time went on. The banter between Beck and Rylee was pure perfection, it worked really well and fit the characters perfectly. The sexual tension between them was palpable and made it even sexier when they finally did get together, steam level – off the charts. I liked that the conflict between them didn't last too long, and it wasn't drawn out. It had its place and good reasoning, it wasn't just for the sake of it. The supporting characters in this book are wonderful, honestly, I want books for all of them. I want more from Victoria, from Griffin, I want Chris and Justine's story, I want Zoey and Art's story. They're the greatest friends a person could really ask for, I'm kinda jealous. They were all so meaningful and memorable that you can't help but wonder what their stories would be.
This was my first Melissa Foster book and it won't be my last. I enjoyed the overall story, I did feel that some things were rather repetitive and a few lines in the story made me sit up and think ‘say what?' But, I'm sure that's personal taste, others may actually like it. It wasn't enough to make me stop listening, or prevent me from listening to more. I liked Melissa's writing style, it was quick and easy to follow.
Dex and Ellie are a cute couple, I really liked them, they've been friends for a long time, Dex has always wanted more but whenever he gets close Ellie is either taken or runs away from him. Meeting again as adults he's concerned about protecting his heart, which is understandable. Ellie had a tough childhood, moving from foster placement to foster placement, she only ever felt safe with Dex, she's accustomed to running but seeing the effect that has on Dex really makes her start to sit up and take notice. They've loved each other for a long time and waste no time sinking into a relationship. It was sweet to watch unfold and I dare you not to empathise with Ellie. There is a little drama but, to be honest, it's pretty much over by the time it starts. The sexy times are written well and make sense to the story and progress it along nicely.
B.J. Harrison was new to me and I don't know if it's because he was new or I just didn't connect with his performance, but I didn't enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed books in the past. At first, he sounded almost British, which threw me off, I couldn't understand why. As the book progressed and I got used to his style of narration, I did enjoy it more, but it still wasn't a performance that jumped out at me. I felt the way Regina was performed was entirely too whiny and almost, insulting, which did not fit the character at all. I did enjoy the emotion that came across from Dex, that was done well.
I have been anxious for Lex's book ever since I met him when I read The Vow, and the wait was worth it.
If accidental babies are your jam, you will love this book. Lex is ALL the things, I love him so much. It has an element of suspense to it too. Once I started, I couldn't help but keep turning the pages. I was hooked on their story. For those that have been reading the series, you will love seeing the other characters during their HEAs.
This was my first Kennedy Fox book, but I can assure you it won't be my last. I didn't really know what to expect. I figured it would be a sexy read, and it was, but it was also so much more. I wasn't expecting the emotional side of the story, that kinda hit me out of left field. It made the story so much more powerful than I ever anticipated, I'll be honest, I was shopping while listening and I shed a few tears. It's also funny, I laughed out loud more than a few times. I loved how Kennedy Fox wrote this book, the pacing was on point, not too fast, but also most definitely not a slow burn. If you love insta-lust stories that have heart, this is the book for you. I really liked the cover, I think it's a good representation of Ethan and the beginning of the story. Personally, I'd have liked to have seen the narrators noted on it as well.
I enjoyed these characters, they were such a joy to spend time with. This story had great supporting characters, Nora and Aunt Millie were wonderful additions. They really stood out and gave the story character. Ethan was a great male lead, he had it all; the sexiness, the gruff attitude, the swooniness, and of course, he was the damaged guy that only Vada could make whole, honestly, his backstory is heartbreaking. Thank heavens for Vada. His choice in bed partners before Vada was questionable, I'll admit at one point I was biting my lip hoping the reveal wasn't true...because that would suck, lucky Ethan wasn't a douche. Vava was awesome, I adored her. I wanted to go hang out with her and be her friend. I felt bad that she didn't really have anyone and the reasons for it. She was feisty and smart. She gave as good as she got, which I loved. I liked that she was a writer. She frustrated me a little, but I get she was protecting herself, so that made it alright. The animals were a big part of this story and they were brilliant.
I loved how Ethan and Vada's relationship started and progressed through the story. At times I wasn't sure what was going to happen. I thought the HEA was upon us and then realised the audiobook had over 2 hours to go, that was a WTF moment I can tell you, but, Kennedy Fox is a genius and it worked really well, I was hooked and wondering how and what was going to happen next. The sexy times, to which there are a good few, as you would expect for bedtime reading, were written incredibly well and worked with the story. None of them ever felt forced or out of place. My second WTF moment came when I heard the words ‘One Year Later' seriously, I shouted the words, because why? Why would that happen? But, it did happen, and again it worked well for the story, so all is forgiven and I got my HEA. Praise the writing gods!
This dual narration was performed wonderfully by Joe Arden and CJ Bloom, it wasn't a particularly long book, however, I thought they both fit the parts really well and their voices complemented each other, better than I thought they would when I saw their names connected with the audiobook. It was a lovely surprise.
I think this might be my favourite CJ Bloom performance. She really brought Vada to life, she performed her in a way to make the listener connect with her on a level they may not have done while reading the book. Her feelings shone through during the performance and I loved that about it. I really enjoyed her portrayal of the accents and different characters, each one seemed unique and fitting for the character it was for. She also nailed both the sexy and emotional parts of the story.
Joe Arden was the embodiment of Ethan Rochester, at no point did I sit back and think, nope, this voice doesn't fit, he was the character. The inflections and accents used really enhanced the performance and gave each character a distinct sound. Although this book is hot on sexy times, the emotional aspects of this story really shone through and those were the standout moments of Joe's performance for me. Although don't get me wrong, the sexy times were performed, well... sexily, for lack of a better word. JA definitely doesn't disappoint. Lastly, I need to take a second to talk about Joe's southern drawl in this book...swoon, it was fantastic, to this Brit anyway. I'm a sucker for the southern drawl, I'm not gonna lie...the southern drawl is like the English accent to Americans. In other words, it's a swoonfest just waiting to happen. The production was great with no issues that I noted.
This audiobook was published by a new audiobook imprint called AudiOMG! You should definitely look into more of their titles.
This is such a sweet story. I like a good conflict, as much as the next person. But, sometimes, I like smooth, sweet, and easy. That's what Tempting Little Tease was for me. It was such as easy listen. It won't be to everyone's taste, I'm sure, but for me, it was just what I was in the mood for. I loved how Quinn and Alessandra connected and started dating, knowing there was an end-date. Squeezing as much time together as possible.
Kendall Ryan has done it again. I love the way she writes, the way she pulls the reader into the story. I loved how the Italian was handled in this book. Sometimes another language can be hard to follow, but that wasn't the case in this book. This entire series has been a dream to listen to. Each book is so much more than I expected. Tempting Little Tease is no exception. It's no secret that Cooper took the top spot in the Kingsley Brothers book boyfriend battle, and although Quinn has given him a run for his money, Cooper is still very much on top.
I loved the characters in this book. The little glimpses into Gavin and Cooper's lives was a cute addition and made me smile. Alessandra was such a sweetheart, I loved her. I loved that she was independent, that she had her own thoughts and knew what she wanted out of life. I could see being pals with her. Quinn was super swoon worthy. He wasn't as alpha as I imagined him to be, which was actually really nice. I always loved that he was the one always taking care of his brothers, and that continued into his relationship with Alessandra, it was so adorable. The way he never pressured her, the fact he wanted her to live her dream. The sex scenes were smoking hot and fit with the story, it didn't feel rushed. The descriptions of Italy were wonderful and really made me want to visit, more than I did already.
This dual narration from Joe Arden and Megan Tusing was brilliant. Their voices really complemented each other, Joe's gruffness and Megan's sweetness really made it a wonderful listen, it was a genius pair-up. The Italian, swoon, can we take a second to just admire Joe and Megan's Italian? Because seriously, it was fantastic. Joe Arden was the perfect choice for Quinn. His tone was just how I imagined it would be. Megan was wonderful as Alessandra, sweet and sexy. This is one duo that everyone should be listening to. The production was great with no issues I noted.
At the end of TLT is a clip of Dirty Little Secret, performed by Zachary Webber & Megan Tusing. Which will whet your appetite for the series if you haven't listened to it yet.
This was a sweet, and sexy novella. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers story. It's a quick listen and can easily be listened to in one sitting, which was how I listened to it. The story doesn't feel rushed at all and the writing is pure Shen, which is to say it is captivating and wonderful. I love getting lost in her worlds. LJ Shen is a genius, only Shen could write a novella that includes friends to lovers, a fake relationship, roommates, and fake other things and make it work. And it does work, Jolie and Sage are the cutest. I was rooting for them from the get go. The extended epilogue was a great addition to the story and gives a look into their future. The book is sexy as sin, as one would expect from an LJ Shen book.
I wasn't sure about Tessa Ellory to begin with, she was a new voice to me, and at the beginning it felt like Sage sounded a lot older than he was, however, once the prologue was over and we got to the bulk of the story, I actually loved her performance and it really made the story for me. The way she conveyed the emotions the characters were experiencing was spot on. Joe Arden's performance was great, however, I just felt that his voice was too older sounding for the characters in this story.
If you've never listened to anything from LJ Shen before this is the perfect introduction to her writing.
I loved this book. It was perfect. This is the first book I've read from Louise Bay – now don't all start shouting at me, I know I'm late to the party, I do have other books, I just haven't had the time to dive into them yet. After reading Hollywood Scandal, I am moving them up the TBR list, because, damn, I loved the writing style, the way I reacted to the characters and the story, I need more of this goodness in my life.
Matt Easton is a movie star on location, he's a reformed playboy that just wants to do his job and become the best. That is until he meets Lana Kelly, she comes marching into his life when he least expects it, now he doesn't want to let her go. Problem is, Lana Kelly is a private person, she loves living in a small town and has no desire to be on the cover of magazines, and she definitely doesn't want to be tabloid fodder. Can their summer fling become something more? Can they overcome the differences in their lives and make the relationship work?
Plot
When I read the synopsis for this book I was giddy, it sounded amazing. The girl next door and the sexy movie star! Sign me up. I thought it would be a fun book to listen to, and I was right. I loved everything about this book. I loved how Lana didn't know who Matt was and fell for him anyway. I loved that Matt liked that she didn't fall at his feet, she was a challenge for him. It's a sweet romance that captured my heart and attention early on and once I started it, I didn't want to put it down.
Characters
I fell completely in love with Matt Easton, he was such a sweet, swoon-worthy character. I was completely taken with him, pretty much from the get go. He was funny and charming. Respectful and supportive. Sure, he might have made some mistakes; I had a facepalm moment and even made a Facebook update of my listening percentage that said ‘Oh, Matt, what have you done?' His heart was in the right place. I also may not be able to see past his awesomeness lol.
I really liked Lana, I did get a little mad at her at times, how could she not see how perfect Matt was? I mean, come on girl! I'll take your place lol. She came around to my way of thinking, in the end, so all was forgiven. I liked her backstory, and her reasoning made sense, even though I wanted to tell her to get over it, I understood her reluctance. Her interactions with the locals were cute and gave insight into her character.
I had an instant dislike of Brian and Sinclair, I wanted to punch them both in the balls. Who the heck did they think they were? I'd have fired them. But, they did redeem themselves in the end so I kind of forgave them.
The older residents of Worthington were great, I loved their little additions to the story and they really brought the small-town vibe to life.
I loved Ruby, she totally needs her own book and HEA. She reminds me so much of a friend, who happened to be reading the book at the same time and I kept sending messages that consisted of ‘This is so you!' I liked that she was the one person that knew Lana and her history, that she could offer support and advice that others couldn't, even though she played a small part in the scheme of things, the effect was huge.
Relationship
I loved how this relationship played out. It was very sweet. I loved the interactions between the characters and the banter they had. Of course, it wasn't all smooth sailing and I may have suggested Matt marry me instead of Lana at times (I know, I know. Stop judging me!) but the conflict made the ending so much sweeter. The sex scenes were steamy and well placed, none of the sex was for the sake of it, it played a part in the story and made sense...and was written incredibly well.
A couple of scenes really stood out for me with this couple. The first kiss...wowser, what a kiss that was. I don't know how they managed to pull away, it was hot. I think that might have been when I fell in love with Matt. The second was the first sex scene, it is a perfect example of this couple and how they react to each other, the trust and respect they have. I thought it was beautifully done. Another scene, I know I said a couple but I just remembered this one, I loved it, and it's not really a spoiler, but Matt gives an acceptance speech and it was so beautiful, I may have teared up...just a little.
This book! I adore it so much! It's a powerful, thought-provoking, emotional rollercoaster that I think everybody is going to love.
I first read Flightpath when it originally released as part of Cristin Harber's Titan World and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was my favourite out of the 11 books in that series of books. There was just something about it that I identified with. Maybe because my dad worked away when I was a kid, not in the military, but still, that sense of not knowing, it's there; the communication difficulties, the airport scenes. Yeah, I could relate. Then maybe it was the fact that this is such a perfect love story. Seth and Maddie are the perfect couple, they have a love everybody hopes they'll one day achieve. But, mainly, it was Amber's writing. She writes so beautifully, describing places, scenes, and emotion so well that the reader is awestruck by its beauty. I laughed, and I cried, and I swooned. Amber does something pretty unique and special in this story, she immerses you into the lives of these characters, so much so, that you feel connected to them on an emotional level, the things they were feeling, you felt with them. The struggles they experienced, well, you're right there with them too. It also gives a great understanding of the military life, how couples cope with the separation and the effects it has on the relationship. Either a lot of research went into this aspect of the book, or she has some firsthand knowledge – it really upped the appeal of this book. I was extremely invested in this story and what was happening between these characters.
Amber's writing is flawless, it's hard to believe this is her first published book, she writes like a pro! Not only does she Captivate you with the story of Seth and Maddie, but she draws you in with supporting characters too. This story is beautiful. I wanna know more about Matt and Katie. I loved that Olivia was a forward kid, I'm surrounded by smart little boys that were talking away from being a toddler so it's nice to see that in a book, rather than have her just babble. Maddie is awesome, she is so sassy, which I love, she has a lot to deal with. Her husband is halfway across the world in a war zone, not having instant answers to her worries, having a baby, all of it, I felt for her and could understand her reactions and worries. Seth, good heavens, this man is so swoon-worthy, it's not even funny, he's taken – I have it in writing from the author, so don't get any ideas. He is sweet and sexy, and he's strong and smart. He has that commanding presence to him, that makes you just want to do whatever he says. It's funny because some lines if anyone would say them I'd find them quite condescending, but with Seth, they were just perfect, they were a part of his character and came from his heart. If I'm ever in trouble, please, for the love of everything, send Seth to save me. I loved that they were in it together, it was always them against the world and they fought for their love.
This book was wonderful the first time around, and it's even better this time. The extended epilogue is cute and fits with the story and gives it a nice finish. The new cover, swoon, it's so perfect, it's Seth and Maddie without a doubt. I thought I loved the original cover, which I did, but this is even better. A little advice – make sure you have those kleenexes handy. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer... because I wasn't ready to leave this couple. I want more! That's not to say the book isn't complete, it is and is wonderful, I just adore these characters and I selfishly want more of them.
I have to start by saying I am not up-to-date on the Shopping for a Billionaire series, I had hoped to be, but life. However, although it's a continuation and book 13, I didn't feel that I'd missed out when reading this book - we hear about some things that happen in past books and it just made me want to catch up with those books.
I love Julia Kent's writing style. It captures the reader's attention, pulls them into the story and keeps them invested until the very last page. The way she blends humour and emotion is a skill. I never fail to fall about laughing at the hilarious moments and there are plenty of them, and then cry at the emotional ones too. It really is a wonderful way to pass the hours, I really need to find more time to spend with Julia's characters - they brighten my day. I really love the covers for this series, and this book's cover is no exception. It's eye-catching and just really sweet.
This book is hilarious, so many laugh out loud moments. It's also quite emotional, for me at least, I think anyone that has tried to conceive will be able to empathise with these characters and what they're going through. I was able to identify with Shannon more in this book than any of the others I've read in the series. (No! We're not going to mention the phone down the toilet debacle). Conception is a touchy subject and I think it was handled with grace, care, and compassion. Not only showing the difficulties but also finding the humour in situations and how it can bring people together. It was beautiful to read.
These characters are freaking hilarious! I love them so much. Shannon's mother is one of the best fictional women ever! Shannon and Declan are such a wonderful couple and having spent a fair few hours with them and their story. It's so great to see them progressing through their happily ever again. Watching them grow together, and make the decision to expand their family, and all the ups and downs that entails. Declan has many swoon-worthy moments, I always forget just how charming he is, but he soon reminds me.
It's no secret that I adore Laurelin Paige's writing and this book doesn't disappoint. It is a sweet, feel-good story. I love a second chance romance, especially one like this, which is sweet and sexy. I really liked the movie aspect of this story, there is something about that trope that calls to me... maybe because it's so different to the lives we lead. This book had me swooning, and laughing, it was so good. The cover is insert heart eyes I just adore it. It fits the story perfectly. And, of course, I love that it includes the names of the narrators.
I loved these characters so much. I adored Walter, I feel like we need to give him and Rodger a story - pretty please! Tanner was all the things. I loved his sexy movie star self, but also the way he was when it was just him and Jenna. The way he encouraged her, and put her first, even when she didn't know in - swoon! Jenna was such a sweetheart, I so wanted to go hang out with her. She had her insecurities that made perfect sense to me, her relationship with Walter was such a delight.
I loved the relationship between Tanner (swoon) and Jenna. It was super sexy... melt your kindle sexy... I mean, it is a LP book after all, it's to be expected. I loved that we got to see both of their PoVs and how they were dealing with seeing each other again after so long. Finding out that they'd never really gotten over one another and how that came to be. Both of them were pretty insecure but that made sense. Especially when the reason for the break-up is revealed. I loved that the love was always there and once they were together again they just couldn't resist. The sex scenes were super hot, (see comment above about melting kindles) and fit well with the story and the timing of it.
Erin Mallon is always at the top of her game. I loved her performance. She nailed the different accents and I just love how she makes each character sound so unique. I've not heard anything by Rupert Channing and I have to admit it took a while for me to get used to his narration. The accents threw me. The Australian sounded rather British in parts and the American just didn't sound right, but that's just personal taste and nothing against the performer. The confrontation scene towards the end was probably my favourite, it felt like he put a lot of emotion into the performance. The production had no issues that I noted.
This is the first time I've read or listened to a Aly Martinez book, but it won't be my last. I am so in love with this book. It was everything I hoped and more. When I was scrolling through Audible and spotted a book narrated by Aiden Snow and Teddy Hamilton I jumped at the chance to listen to it - dream team right there. Having spent the day listening to the book I have to say that I love Aly's writing, I was doing so well until the last couple of chapters and then I shed a couple of tears - I couldn't help it, dammit! My cold heart was cracked by this couple and how they had to try and overcome their hang ups to be together. I also had a number of laugh out loud moments - you know it's bad when your dog starts giving you the side-eye like you're crazy. I went in on book 2, seeing as it was a standalone, I don't feel I missed out by not reading book 1 first, however, I hadn't even finished this one before I was back on Audible buying book 1 - I wanted to spend more time with some of these characters.
Speaking of characters, I have so much love for them. Evan and Henry both had issues that they needed to overcome. They were frustrating at times, but lovable. I was rooting for them the whole time. The way their relationship progressed and how they grew as people was really beautiful to experience. The chemistry between them was jumping through the headphones...that is, when the sexual energy was melting them. The epilogue made my heart soar, it was the perfect ending for this couple, with a message that more people should understand. I thought the support characters were a fantastic addition. I'm looking forward to diving into Sam and Levee's story. I hope we get stories for Scott, and Carter and Robin in the future.
Aiden Snow and Teddy Hamilton insert all the heart eyes were amazing. I do not use that word lightly, I was completely lost in this story and their performances. It was heart-achingly beautiful. They both have very distinct voices and it worked so well, I had just finished saying how dual was my least favourite style of narration, and then I listened to this book and I take all the words back. Aiden and Teddy proved me wrong, they captivated me and I was lost in their voices. I listened to this book in one go, once I started I just couldn't pull myself away. Each character was unique and easily identifiable. The emotion, man, the emotion they put into their voices swoon I could not imagine this book having any other voice, they were perfect as Henry and Evan. The casting gods were smiling down on us. The production was wonderful with no issues that I noted.
Review is subject to change
Ella Fields has done it again. Nobody try to talk to me right now, I'm trying to process. Good heavens I just don't know how much more my heart can take. I thought Suddenly Forbidden was all the things, Bittersweet Always takes those things and screwed them up and chucked them out the window. I have no feels left to give, Ella has stolen them with her words. Ella's writing is flawless and captivated me from the first chapter, I lost sleep, I just couldn't put this book down, when I couldn't keep my eyes open any more, I napped for a couple of hours and as soon as I woke up, I was straight back to this couple and their story. This book is one of those books that will stay with me for a very long time. This isn't just a romance, this is an enlightening piece of work that can help people understand and accept. I loved the acceptance that came with this story - it was such a huge part of the storyline. It filled me with happiness to see such a difficult subject handled with such grace, respect, and care. My hat goes off to Ella. Ella, thank you for writing this book, thank you for showing Toby and Pippa's strength. Mostly, thank you for not shying away from this subject matter and doing it justice.
This book is filled with characters you can't help but love. We see Daisy and Quinn from Suddenly Forbidden, and it was so cute seeing their relationship from Pippa and Toby's eyes - if you didn't read SF because the cheating element was too much for you, rest assured you can pick up there story here and know what happens without the nitty gritty of it all. Callum, swoon, I still love him, I really hope his story is next. Toby Hawthorne is one of those characters you can't help but love and root for. He is sweet and charming, but he also has demons, he doesn't always handle things correctly, and at times he frustrated the hell out of me, but I could also understand his actions too. His strength has no comparison. Pippa James, my girl! She freaking rocks! Her strength is astounding, I loved her so much. She was feisty and independent, she stood her ground when she needed to. When she loves, she loves with her whole heart.
I loved the relationship between Toby and Pippa, it was filled with acceptance and understanding. They had their ups and downs for sure, and sometimes it was hard to watch the difficulties they were going through. At times I was shouting at my kindle, begging them not to do something... or to do something. And that's what makes this such an amazing read, that it can have me shouting, and crying, and sometimes even chuckling. I just couldn't put it down. I can't stop thinking about it. I think this just became my favourite book of 2018.
The cover for this book, sheesh, have you seen it? It's beautiful. I have to say, I think this and the cover for Suddenly Forbidden are two of the best covers I've ever seen. I'm going to need to get them on my shelf.
Come as you Are is such a sweet story. I think this book came to me at the right time, I'd been reading some angst filled books just lately and then this gem came into my life. It was such a sweet and easy listen. Lauren Blakely always finds a way to entertain me and put a smile on my face. Her words are a definite must for anyone feeling out of sorts. Flynn and Sabrina are adorable, I just loved them so much. This book is Lauren at her best. Grabbing the listener's attention and keeping it until the last page. I liked the cover, but I have to say it wasn't my favourite, it didn't really give me a feel for the story as I read it. Still a nice cover though.
These characters are so sweet. There isn't a conflict as such, even if I was worried for a second there. But, I felt that was awesome because it truly showed Flynn's character growth. He was such a sweet guy, he made time for everyone, he had insecurities that were understandable. Sabrina, was fantastic, she may have been down on her luck but she kept going, wanting to do the best for herself and her brother. I loved the relationship she had with him. It was sweet. The way she overcame her insecurities to be with Flynn. Their relationship and how they meet, for the first and second time. Watching them form a friendship and then that blossom into something more. It was just lovely and just what I needed.
Andi Arndt and Sebastian York were fantastic casting for this story. They both deliver such strong performances and really immerse you in the story. Although it's a dual performance, the text messages were in duet and I thought that was really clever, maybe because I'm such a fan of duet anyway. The production was great with no issues of note.
Most Irresistible Guy is included at the end of the audio. I was excited when I found out as I was hoping it would get the audio treatment. I even held off reading it. Andi Arndt was superb as violet. If you've read Most Valuable Playboy this is a great little prequel to make you smile and it'll probably make you want to do a reread of MVP. If you haven't read it, this is a great introduction to some of the characters. It was short and cute.
Georgia Bennett is Somerton Security's go-to female operative. After a string of issues with clients, her boss gives her an ultimatum she must make a personal connection with this new client or she will lose her job. She's not happy, even less so when she finds out who it is. Nobody wanted the Parker Livingston assignment, he's difficult to work with, and he doesn't think he needs a bodyguard, but when he receives a secure coded message telling him to run, he knows it's serious. The tech genius and his bodyguard must join forces to survive, his brains and her brawn may be the only hope they have. What happens when that personal connection becomes more personal than anyone could imagine, and with danger and secrets at every turn, can their heat of the moment spark become something more, something solid?
I'm told this is Elizabeth Dyer's debut book and I'm in awe, she has earned herself a fan in me. Defenseless totally blew me away. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. It is a combination of everything I love in one tidy little package. It has action, it has romance, it has suspense and it has twists you won't see coming. I loved it so much that I've just ordered the paperback, and preordered Relentless, the next book in the series. It's one of my favourite books of 2017, it is definitely rounding the year out with a bang! I loved the writing, Elizabeth has a way with words that grabs the reader's attention and keeps it. She includes enough detail to paint a picture in the reader's mind but leaves enough to allow them to use their imagination too. I was on the edge of my seat more than once. I was hooked from the first chapter until the last. I spent a full day immersed in this story because I just couldn't put it down. I really like the cover, it's eye-catching and intriguing, the only thing that would make it better would be the inclusion of the narrator's name on the audio edition.
These characters are so good, I loved Georgia and Parker. I want to know more about the team, and about Isaac, and Ethan. Georgia Bennett is one badass chick. I loved her so much. I wanna be her when I grow up. She's strong yet has a vulnerability about her that Parker seemed to not only notice but nurture. When she lets her guard down she shows what a resilient person she is. I loved that she could handle herself and was the protector. Parker Livingston is everything. I love him. So much! He's a geek, but don't let that fool you, he can take care of business just as much, if not more than his military buddies. He's smart and charming, funny and strong, his vulnerability (which is different to Georgia's) is endearing and makes you just want to hug him... among other things. Together they are perfect. Sometimes you read a book and the characters have to work at it, at least in my opinion, but not so with Georgia and Parker, they were made for one another.
The relationship between Parker and Georgia is one that I loved. The banter was fantastic, I'm a big banter fan and they work it so well. It never felt forced or out of place. It fit their personalities well and what was going on around them. The sexy times seemed organic to them and the situations they were faced with, everything felt like it earned its place in the book. The relationship is forged in the heat of the chase, but it's steadfast. Even when they don't see eye to eye on a subject, they still always have the other person's best interests at heart, even if the other person can't see it. Sure, I may have shouted at Parker a time or two, and I may have wanted to shake Georgia, but rest assured the book has a HEA and leaves you craving more. I can't wait for more from Somerton Security. I wouldn't say it ends on a cliff-hanger, just that it gives you a lead into the next book, Georgia and Parker's story is complete.
Aiden Snow was the perfect choice for this book. Perfection, I tell you. The little nuances and inflections he uses in his voice really make each character stand out. I adored his performance of Parker, it was everything I could have imagined and hoped for when I read the synopsis of the book. Georgia sounded feminine, but it didn't sound forced, as can sometimes happen. Aiden has the perfect voice for the sexy times, no joke, it's enough to make a girl swoon... if one is so inclined. The emotion he put into some of the scenes was effective and possibly melted my heart a tad. Aiden is fast becoming one of my go-to narrators. He never fails to deliver a brilliant performance that captivates me and leaves me wanting more. The production was smooth with no issues at all.
After listening to some angst filled books lately The Real Thing was such a nice refreshing change. It is sweet, sexy, and endearing. I loved listening to it. It's such a fun mix of some of my favourite tropes; movie star dating an every day girl, brother's best friend, fake relationship, and second chance romance - all the things and it works...so well. These characters are so captivating and I was taken with them and their relationship. I loved their chemistry. Melissa Foster wrote such a wonderful and heartfelt story. John Lane was brilliant, he brought life to these characters and the way he changed his tone for each character making it obvious who was who made for a wonderful listening experience. The production was great with no issues that I noted.
I've been working my way through Fiona Cole's back-catalog since devouring Shame, and I have to say, how is this her first book? It is fantastic. I fell in love with these characters, I loved the story and the suspense. I laughed and I cried, ok, I sobbed. It had everything I love about romantic suspense and even some things that made me uncomfortable, but I just couldn't stop turning the pages. I was hooked. The last chapter about killed me, I don't think my heart could survive any more...and then that epilogue. F**k me! I loved the suspense and that sense of whodunit. I had my suspicions and was both happy and sad they proved right. Fiona Cole writes stories I want to not only read, but devour. She captures my attention, my heart, and my breath with each word she writes. I need more. Always more.
These characters. Sigh. I've never done such a 180 on a character as fast as I did in this book. But, that's all I'll say about that - just read it. Jack MacCabe was so swoony, I loved him, I also wanted to reach into my kindle and smack him upside the head while shouting ‘communication!!!' But those moments were few and far between. Mainly, I just loved him. Is Fiona ever going to write a guy I don't fall head over heels for? I vote NO! Luella King is my girl. I love her so so much. She funny and sweet and kick arse. She's not afraid of her mistakes and readily admits to them. She's strong in her own way. Their relationship was so sweet...and sexy. I mean, just read the scene when they meet and try not to let your Kindle melt...and that's just the start.
Love Machine was such a cute, flirty, and sexy story. It really filled my heart with joy as I listened to it. The characters are so much fun to spend time with. Slate is charming and sexy, and oh so swoonable. Whereas Keaton is sassy, nerdy, and charming in her own right. I loved the dynamic between them, the chemistry was off the charts. Kendall always writes books that touch your heart and fill you with joy.
Sebastian York and Andi Arndt were fabulous as always, although I'm not sure about that accent Sebastian used for Mira - left a little to be desired, but, that was something tiny and it doesn't take away from the rest of his performance. They both delivered the emotional aspects of the story flawlessly as well as the humour. You can't go wrong with a Arndt/York narration. The production was great with no issues for Love Machine. At the end of LM is a sneak peek at Finding Alexei - firstly, Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke are the bomb! I did not want it to end and I desperately want to know what happens next. I am already half in love with Alex. I feel, and this is just my personal view, that a longer pause should have been had been the end of LM and the beginning of FA - or at least an announcement that a sneak peek was going to play next. Just so people knew what they were listening to. Regardless, it was a nice inclusion for us audiophiles and I think it definitely whet our appetites for more.
This was a cute, emotional at times, and endearing book. I have to say that I was looking forward to this book since I enjoyed the first book in the series so much. I liked it, a lot, although I felt it dragged a little. However, I had genuine tears...actually, tears is too calm a word, I sobbed at one scene in the book, and for that, it just made the book for me. The writing, the delivery, it was just perfection and anything that can move me that way gets a huge thumbs up and extra star from me. The chemistry between the characters was palpable and I loved the single parent aspect. I thought it was written really well.
John Lane is a wonderful narrator and he continued to prove that in his performance, his voices are distinct, so you always know who each character is. He makes a great child...and female. He has a nice tone, and his inflections are great. The emotional aspects of the book are where he excelled, he just drew me into the scene and it was wonderful.
I have to say that when I first heard about this book I was over the moon excited. I love that this book was more about the relationship between the three characters and less about the sex, although, there is plenty of that too. It's been described as MMF, however, personally I'd describe it as MFM with some MM scenes, as to my knowledge, and I'd remember if it had happened, there were no scenes that included MM with the female present and I would've loved that to be included to see how their dynamic changed in the bedroom. This isn't a complaint merely an observation. Ok, honestly, I wanted some MMF in my life – I think Lola Leighton would do a marvelous job with it, she knows how to balance sexy and emotions. Chapter 27 is on FIRE, I'm sure some of it was used in a FB bedtime read post at one point...or, maybe I just wish it was. It definitely felt familiar...maybe I imagined them to life? Either way, it was the sexiest scene.
The dynamic of this relationship is really what this book is about and I love that it focuses on that. Although this book is super sexy, the sex scenes don't drown out the story. It is emotional at times, humorous, and sweet. I loved the chemistry between the three of them and thought it was palpable from early on. I adored that it came across as more of a real-life relationship, rather than just fiction, you could imagine the issues they faced and how people would react and how they would deal with that.
The characters in this story are wonderful. I loved Will, Sullivan, and Adrienne (for the most part, more about that in a moment). Let's talk about these characters. First, we have Will, who is more the strong and silent one. He's so gentle with Adrienne that it's the sweetest thing to observe. Add in his clear feelings for Sully and I was smitten. I wish we had more chapters from his PoV, as it felt more like Sullivan and Adrienne's story with a few Will chapters thrown in for good measure. A lot of changes happened for him, I would have liked to spend more time in his head and seeing how he handled the transition. Then we have Sullivan, he's more the laid-back, funny, and knows what he wants, guy. His attraction to Adrienne was instant and pairing that with his obvious attraction to Will just had me swooning. I loved that we got so much from his PoV. He's such a sweetheart. Lastly, we have Adrienne. She's sweet, sassy, and doesn't take any crap. I loved her for the most part until chapter 25 – I hated the way she reacted to her family and the way she treated the men she claimed to love. I felt she needed to earn back their trust, instead of them winning her back. I even had to stop listening for a minute because I was so wound up about it, then, I loved her again, once things got sorted. I still say she should have groveled some.
I do wish the book was a little longer. I felt some parts needed to be extended, and some needed to be included. For example, when the guys are trying to win Adrienne back, they have a discussion with her family, I'd have liked for that to be included so we could see the change in her parents, know what actually won them over since they were so against it. Rather than just, we've spoken to them and they're ok with it now. The only other thing was that I wasn't always sure how much time had passed, it felt like it occasionally jumped from one scene to another rather than a smooth transition. With that being said, I really enjoyed the book and would definitely listen to it again, and listen to more from Lola.
The narrators were absolutely wonderful. The casting was great, I do feel like Jacob Morgan was more suited to the character of Will, and Jason Clarke to Sullivan, but, that's just my thoughts. Nobody said I wasn't a picky listener. They did a fantastic job regardless. Ava Erickson was pure perfection as Adrienne, her voice has the sweet quality that I felt was necessary for the character. Throughout the book she really killed it, she embodied the character so well. I thought chapter 27 was performed brilliantly by Jacob Morgan, he nailed the emotion, insecurity, and sexiness of the scene...and the book, really. And, Jason Clarke's performance was captivating, even though it's only a small portion of the book. All three of the narrators complemented each other. The production was great with no issues of note.
Elizabeth Dyer writes books I like to read. They're well written, action-packed, and have a good dose of humour, sexy-times, and emotion. I like that they're longer than your average romance book – at least the ones I've been listening to lately. She doesn't skimp on the details – she builds the suspense and you can't help but become invested in the story and the characters. I legit laughed, cried, swooned, and cursed during this book. I loved characters. I hated characters. I had theories and I had excuses. I love when a book can cause those types of reactions and Elizabeth's writing is a joy to get lost in.
After listening to Defenseless and falling in love with the story and Elizabeth's writing I've been anxiously awaiting the release of Relentless and it did not disappoint. Although it is a continuation, as in, it has the same characters and team, and the underlining story arc threaded through it, it is also very much its own book. The premise is completely different. That being said, I wasn't sure how I was going to react, I just loved Parker and Georgia so much, their dynamic was wonderful, and sometimes, you know, you love book one so much that any others can seem like a let-down, that doesn't happen here. Ethan and Natalia are wonderful, but in a completely different way, and it worked so perfectly. Natalia is deadly, but she has heart. My heart broke for her on more than one occasion. She's been through hell, and all for her sister - the love and loyalty she has for her is astounding, so why wouldn't Ethan fall for her. Ethan, the big bad boss of Somerton Security is knocked off his feet by Natalia and it's so awesome to see. He's always been the strong one, shouldering all the responsibility and the blame, seeing him come to terms with the fact that he can't save everyone was really endearing. I really liked them together, they're both strong - in different ways and that shone through. Their HEA was hard fought and they deserved it, I loved how Elizabeth had it all come together, it was everything I hoped, and even some I hadn't even imagined.
I have to say that I loved that we got to see Parker and Georgia. I had the biggest smile on my face when Parker first turned up. I was like, ‘here's my guy!' Swoon. I just love him. Getting a glimpse into their continued HEA was fabulous and really gave this book that extra appeal and a dose of sweetness.
I like that each book is a stand-alone that has a story arc that connects them. I am so invested in this series, I cannot wait to see what happens next. Bring on Fearless in November! I am excited to listen to it and see where this story arc takes us.
Aiden Snow is so perfectly cast for this series. His voice just fits the flow and the speed. It's a pleasure to listen to. The way he uses inflection to alter the character he's performing is brilliant and he never over does it. It's always so spot on. He's able to convey the sweet, with the urgency of the suspense and really pull the reader into the story. I just loved it. The production was great with no issues at all.
I adored the Bennett Family series, like thousands of other people, and I'm sure we all had the same fears and questions when it came to the end of its run. What now? How can we ever move on? Will this Connor family be able to make us feel the way the Bennetts did? Layla is a genius. The Connors are a wonderful family, they have a totally different dynamic than what the Bennetts had, and it works so well. The way the siblings interacted was pure brilliance. This could have gone one of two ways, it could have been the Bennetts rehashed, or it could stand on its own originality, and it's the latter. This series feels new and fresh and I am so excited to spend more time with the Connor Clan! I listened to this book in one sitting, once I started I just couldn't pull myself away from this story and these characters. Layla writes characters you want to know about, you want to spend time with, and her writing flows so beautifully that it just immerses you into their world.
Landon and Maddie are so sweet together. From early on you must know they're a match made in reader heaven. The way they interacted and came to terms with their feelings was sweet and beautiful. No major conflicts to drag out and make us question their feelings. It was obvious. Landon is such a swoony sweetheart, I fell for him early on. He's not had it easy, raising his younger siblings and then losing his wife - but, he doesn't close himself off, he embraces his feelings for Maddie, even if they weren't what he planned. Maddie is such a wonderful character, I adored her. She's making a name for herself in a tough business, all while helping her sister finance college and although she doesn't have the need for a man, and doesn't want to get hurt again, she's still open to a relationship with Landon. The chemistry between them was palpable and the steam level, well, let's just say Landon isn't all sweetness wink The other Connors are awesome, I can't wait to get to know them some more. The next book is out soon, right?
Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are a powerhouse. They always deliver when they perform, and when they're paired up, you know it's going to be magic. This book is no different, I thought Sebastian embodied Landon, he was just the perfect voice for this character. Andi was brilliant as Maddie. They both bring so much emotion to the characters and the change of tone and inflection really gives each character a unique voice. The production was fine with no issues I noted.
