I have heard such good things about Kayley Loring that I was super excited to listen to this book. Add in the premise, and it felt like a guaranteed good read. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed. The comedy seemed forced and lacking. I'm not a fan of bathroom humour anyway but the odd joke here or there I can handle, this book relied so heavily on it that I just couldn't enjoy the story. I laugh maybe three times and that was near the end. It just wasn't funny to me. The characters didn't come across as very likeable, which also added to the difficulties while listening.
I have been told her other books hit the mark, so I may try again. This one definitely wasn't a good fit for me.
That being said, the narrators were brilliant. I had issue with one of them and their accent work but that's a standard issue I have with him. Emma Wilder and Teddy Hamilton were fantastic and the support voice actors enhanced the audio experience.
This was a cute coming of age, friends to lovers story. The tension and buildup was great, and I loved the interactions. There is always that one character you want to slap and that is no different here, luckily, her tricks were easy to spot. I liked how there wasn't a lot of conflict because the characters knew each other well and worked things out fast.
Desiree Ketchum and James Cavanagh were brilliant. Although, I did feel James sounded a little old to be voicing such a young character but overall, it was a lovely, quick listen.
I struggled with how to rate this book, a 2-2.5 star is what I settled on. I don't know if I will share my thoughts publicly or not. If I decide to I will edit this.
This was my first Pippa Grant book but it will not be my last, honestly, I'm side-eyeing you all for not telling me to read or listen sooner. I loved her style and most of her humour. When I saw the book was over 9 hours long, I was a little surprised, most romcoms I've listened too aren't anywhere near that long, so I wasn't sure how it was going to go, but it worked. I never felt like the story dragged or that any part of it was unnecessary.
Luca and Henri are hilarious together. I loved their dynamic and banter. Luca is a straight-laced baseball player who doesn't have time for love and Henri is a love addict, just ask her previous five Fiancés. So who better to teach her about not falling in love than Luca? Spoiler alert: It doesn't work. But it was so much fun seeing them try to fight their attraction and feelings. Henri is a romance author, and I loved the little bits that I think most writers and even readers of the genre can experience. The way Luca supported her was fabulous and melted my heart.
Jason Clarke was fantastic. It's been a while since I've heard him in a Rom Com, and I forgot how good his comedic timing is. I loved his delivery as both Luca and Henri, he was really able to showcase his performance skills.
Virginia Rose has great comedic timing and it shows in this production. The way she performed Henri was hilarious and at times I was worried about her taking a breath—some amazing breath control skills were showcased. Together, they were brilliant and performed it in a way to make it believable. There transition between POV and voices was spot on. The production was wonderful with no issues.
Just when you think Erin Mallon has thought of everything, and there is nothing else she can bring to the These Walls Can Talk series about the audiobook community, she lets you know how wrong you were to think such foolishness.
We're back with the whole gang-Joe Arden (Atticus aka The Narwhal), Tanya Eby (Georgia), Shane East (Cameron), Emma Wilder (Jennifer aka Niffer), Teddy Hamilton (Neil), Andi Arndt (Vera), Maxine Mitchell (Andrea), and Erin Mallon (Narrator and Frankie) all return. And this time, they have Jason Clarke as Artie Smarts with them.
Artie is an AI. In this current climate of authors and companies wanting to use AI in audiobooks (much to listeners objections) it was a very clever and hilarious way to show the downside of it. As will all things Erin there are layers to this story and it also deals with boundaries when people make themselves available on social media. There are some lines that just seem funny at first listen but then stick with you and make you think differently. It's one of the things I love about Erin's writing.
Each of the voice actors brings something unique and brilliant to the character they voice. However, Jason Clarke steals the show as Artie. It is like you have never heard him before. Trust me, if you think you've heard all sides to Jason, he's about to prove you wrong.
I will never get enough of this series. I hope there will be more in the future because I love these characters and the look behind the curtain of the audiobook industry. Add in the interactions of the voice actors and it is something special to experience.
Thank you to Erin Mallon, Joe Arden, Andi Arndt, Shane East, Tanya Eby, Teddy Hamilton, Maxine Mitchell, Jason Clarke, and Emma Wilder for creating such an amazing listening experience and entertaining us in such a wonderful way.
This was a cute little novella. Only 2 hours 35 minutes on audio. For being so short it is filled with action and suspense. It's about an established couple that have a bad day. I really enjoyed it. Stella Hunter and Evan Parker narrate in duet and they were brilliant. Evan Parker is not a narrator to be sleeping on if you like a deep, growly voice.
If you like vampire stories, and I mean real vampire stories. Those were the vampires are the bad guys and do bad guy things, this is the book (trilogy) for you. Now, don't get me wrong, Cashel has some redeeming moments but overall, if you are going in expecting a swoony, lovey dovey vamp, you're going to be disappointed.
The title should give you a big hint, but just in case it isn't clear enough, there are some dark moment within this story.
I loved how this story is crafted in a way that you are invested from the get-go. At first wanting to know why Olivia is so special, and then wanting to know more about the Blackthorne family and their history. Why they need Olivia so badly. Not to mention the pull between Cashel and Olivia. The tension and enemies to lovers feel will have you routing for them and cursing when they don't do what you want.
I can't wait for book two. Blood Traitor.
Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder voice the audiobooks, and it is primarily from Olivia's point of view, so Emma carries the bulk of this book, and she is brilliant. I loved how she voiced Olivia, and her voice for the men was nothing short of fabulous. The scent work was too-notch. Aaron was great as Cashel.
If I thought book one had me on edge, that was nothing compared to this book. I was captivated from the start. There are so many twists and turns. Each question that gets answered will leave another question in its wake and you anxious to know what is going to happen next. Cashel and Olivia's relationship continues to build and is compelling. I can't wait to see what happens next. Especially with that cliffhanger that made me super glad I could dive right into the next book.
Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder continue to deliver brilliant performances of these characters and keep you inthralled in the story and performance.
If paranormal isn't really your thing, I urge you to try a Kim Loraine/ K. Loraine book as she really has a wonderful way of writing these stories that pull you in. I was invested in Izzy's story from the moment it started. Add in shifter Grant, and I was all-in. I loved their relationship and their pull to one another. It is high spice for those wanting some sexiness in their books—this book has you! There are twists and turns galore, that will keep you guessing, swooning, and gasping in shock.
I am looking forward to reading about the other two sisters.
What a joy this book was to listen to. It's been a hot minute since I've had Will M. Watt in my ears. Felicity Foster was new to me, and I didn't struggle a little with some of the accent, but overall, a brilliant performance by both of them.
I was torn with this book because I wasn't a big fan of Helena's in the previous book, but she totally won me over in this one. Finding out more of her story and the push and pull between her and her fallen. There were a couple of moments that brought tears to my eyes. It's also super spicy.
The epilogue had my gasping and running for the next book.
Kylie Stewart and Jacob Morgan perform this book, and the narration wasn't for me. I'm sure others would love it though. I will say there were a couple of emotional scenes that Jacob did really well and that had an impact on me. But overall, I wasn't a fan of the accent work. Kylie was definitely my preferred for the accent work.
The continuation of Lucas and Briar's story was everything I wanted and more. It was fun and sexy and intriguing. It had just the right about of suspense about what was happening and why to keep you riveted to the story. There are twists and hurts and everything you need for a captivating romance.
Shane East and Stella Hunter were perfection. It was casting made in heaven. Nobody else could have done these characters justice, I don't think. Add in the addition of Aaron Shedlock as the voice of Cashel, and it was an aural delight.
I have been itching to get to Gwen's story since I made the link to who she was in Izzy's book. I can understand why this was saved till last and why it's over two books. Her story is one of past lives come to modern times. I love how Kim Loraine manages to infuse the characters with detailed and painful backstories that play such an integral part of their present day trials.
Guinevere and Lancelot are reunited. But nothing is as it seems. This book has a wonderful second chance, enemies to lovers feel and embarking on their journey of understanding and falling back in love was just brilliant. Add in adjusting Lance to the modern world, and it brought many a smile to my face. I loved the build up of this story, how they didn't just dive back in but let the feelings and tension build. And then, when you think everything is going to work out, twists happen, leaving you unsure what is going to happen next.
Kylie Stewart and Shane East perform this story in duet, and it was brilliant. I loved how Shane voiced Lance. Really giving us a feel of an out of time person adjusting to a new world. Someone who loves deeply but holds a ton of hurt. Then, add in Brooks, and we get a full workout of Shane skills. I really enjoyed Kylie Stewart in this book, the way she chose to perform Gwen, a woman struggling with her feelings and memories was wonderful. They kept me enthralled for the entire book.
I'm looking forward to diving into book 2, Immortal Flame later today.
If you've read the previous books in this series, know this book is a little lighter. Lucas Blackthorne, as shown in those previous books, is a vampire with a heart. He's torn between his human nature and loyalty to his family. I loved that this duet gave us Lucas's backstory. That we got to find out about his lost love and what happened there. I adore Lucas and Briar together. There are characters that you will hate—some of which, if you read the prior books, know got what they deserved and that made it all worthwhile. The continuation of Lucas and Briar's story was everything I wanted and more. It was fun and sexy and intriguing. It had just the right about of suspense about what was happening and why to keep you riveted to the story. There are twists and hurts and everything you need for a captivating romance.
Performed in duet. Shane East and Stella Hunter were pure perfection as Lucas and Briar. It was casting made in heaven. Nobody else could have done these characters justice, I don't think. Add in the addition of Aaron Shedlock as the voice of Castel, and it was an aural delight. Vampire Shane is something everyone needs in their live...and a vampire with a heart is even better. The way he performed the conflict the character was dealing with was brilliant. And Stella, I just love everything she does. Their voices work incredibly well together and it's a joy to listen to.

Then Brooks joins and makes this a true story of love, heartache, and acceptance. It was beautiful to go through the array of emotions with each character.
I loved the build up of this story, how they didn't just dive back in but let the feelings and tension build. And then, when you think everything is going to work out, twists happen, leaving you unsure what is going to happen next. The end will leave you swooning with happiness.
Both are voiced so uniquely that it was obvious who was who. I really enjoyed Kylie Stewart in this book, the way she chose to perform Gwen, a woman struggling with her feelings and memories was wonderful. They kept me enthralled for the entire book.
The bonus novella for Gabriel and Ruby was performed brilliantly by Jacob Morgan and Erin Mallon. It was short and sweet. Leaving me itching for more of their story. Grabby hands at the ready.
The final part of this trilogy gives us everything we could have hoped for. It's suspenseful, full of intrigue, and sexy. I really enjoyed how everything came together in this one, and at times, I didn't know how things were going to work out. But I should have trusted Ms. Loraine to deliver. Olivia and Cashel's love is one for the story books.
Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder continued to deliver fantastic performances.

I am excited to start the next book and join them on their present day journey.
Stella Hunter and Shane East were absolutely fabulous in this book. Vampire Shane is something everyone needs in their live...and a vampire with a heart is even better. The way he performed the conflict the character was dealing with was brilliant. And Stella, I just love everything she does. Their voices work incredibly well together and it's a joy to listen to.
These were such fun novellas. Giving you a taste of the Blackthorne world. They will leave you wanting more.
Silas and Natalie's story, Wicked Thorne, is a compact yet full story of history, mystery, and passion. Performed in duet narration by Aaron Shedlock and Kylie Stewart, giving these characters a voice and ensuring the listener is hooked from the first chapter.
Mattias and Lainey's story, Forever Claimed, is insta-love at its best with a shocking twist. Mattias's love with have even the hardest of hearts swooning.
Brandt and Claire's story, Immortal Promise, is perhaps my favourite. A story of unrequited love, filled with tension, and finally passion. The buildup is everything.
Both Forever Claimed and Immortal Promise are performed in duet by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. It's been a minute since I've listened to a Wen and Kai book and this reminded me why I love listening to them. Their voices complement each other so well and the way they perform brings the story to life in your mind.
I cannot get enough of this world, and these Vampires that Kim Loraine has created. I need more.
A fantastic story of wanting what you shouldn't have. The pull and pull between Galen and Sariel, the vampire and fallen Angel/ watcher that shares his consciousness is just riveting. Constantly wondering who was going to win out. Then there is Reece, the human woman they are struggling over for. For years, Sariel has been dormant, but Reece awakens him, and if looking for and hoping he's found his soulmate isn't enough, the fallen are wanting back into Heaven and need Sariel to do it. Enter a fight to survive too. Such an enthralling story and I'm looking forward to the next book. Having read other spin-off series first, it was fun seeing some familiar characters show up.
Will M Watt and Susan Fouche perform this book in duet. I love Will and thought he did a great job for the most part. This was my first Susan book, and I feel that her performance wasn't for me.
Set five years after book one, it was great to check-in on Galen and Reece and see how they were doing. Sariel, the vampire and fallen Angel/ watcher that now shares Devon's consciousness is ready to take over and fight for his redemption and love. Just a little snag, after five years, Devon is ready to renege on his deal to fade away quietly as he's found his soulmate in Willow. Man, their story is riveting. I love how feisty Willow is. She doesn't take anything and fights back at every opportunity, and I just love that. Devon isn't easily swayed though, just ask Sariel. This book was more emotional for me and the performance from Will M Watt and Susan Fouche highlighted that aspect.
Such an enthralling story and I'm looking forward to the next book, pet of me doesn't want it to end and I'm dreading what may happen.
Having read other spin-off series first, it was fun seeing some familiar characters show up.
Will M Watt and Susan Fouche perform this book in duet. I loved both Will and Susan in this book. In book one, I wasn't really sold on Susan and thought she wasn't for me. But I'm this book, I was all in. I don't know if it was the character or that I adjusted to her style of narration, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was my first Meg Anne book (if we don't count the co-authored book I read last month) and it won't be my last. And not just because it ended on a cliffhanger.
There is something compelling and captivating about Meg's writing that kept me glued to my earbuds. Of course, I didn't do any research, so wasn't aware it ended on a cliffhanger, and is in fact, a true series. You know what that means? Yep! I've found a new series to binge. And I cannot wait.
Lina is a ghost who suddenly has a body. She doesn't remember anything about her past. Enter Nord, a guardian, who instinctively knows she is his charge. As they work together to try and find out about Lina's past, they're attraction builds until it is undeniable. Nord tries to fight it, but Lina has other ideas. It's a fun story of mystery, magic, murder, and attraction. A must listen.
Shane East and Stella Hunter perform this story in duet, and it is brilliant. Their voices complement each other perfectly. They give each character such a unique voice that it was easy to know who was speaking and when. The production came across as seamless and was a high quality listen.
What a thrilling final book for this trilogy. Sariel has finally found his soulmate, if only she would realise it. I loved the amount of twists and turns in this story. I couldn't move away from listening in fear of missing something. True, everlasting love is worth fighting for, and fight they do.
Such a riveting story. It had me enthralled from the first chapter.
Having read other spin-off series first, it was fun seeing some familiar characters show up.
Will M Watt and Susan Fouche perform this book in duet. With a special appearance from Felicity Foster, which was a joy since I've listened to the Siren's series and wouldn't have wanted anyone else to voice them. I loved both Will and Susan in this book. They captured my heart with the way they voiced these characters and their story.
This was a lovely small town, slow burn romance. Caroline shows up in a wedding dress and with a lion cub. It's the last thing that Zander wants for his small town, he is hyper-focused on protecting the town and everyone in it. He doesn't need the distraction or danger being brought to his door. However, he can't deny the pull he has towards Caroline, especially when she starts opening up and being herself. I loved the change we see in Zander, the realisation that he can allow himself to love and also be the protector. Caroline goes through changes too, and the more we find out about her, the more we love her. She isn't at all what she seems. I loved the extended family that Zander has and being introduced to those with existing stories and those with stories to come. I will definitely be checking them out.
I struggled a little with the narration. I thought Desiree Ketchum was fantastic, and she really conveyed the strong yet vulnerability traits of the character perfectly. For James R. Cheatham, I felt there was lack of consistency with the accent, which was distracting and made it difficult to become fully immersed in his chapters. That being said, I did like his tone and he conveyed the characters emotions well.
And the stakes just keep getting higher and the twists just keep on coming. I love Lina and Nord so much. We get a few chapters from Quinn and Finley in this book, and I loved that addition - I love their connection and push and pull. I cannot wait for more from these two. But back to Lina and Nord. We get to meet some of their family and learn their history-meeting new allies and foes. I love this magical world that Meg Anne has created. Every book just leaves me rushing to press play on the next.
Not to mention a bonus scene that will leave you wanting more.
Stella Hunter and Shane East continue to perform the series in duet and nail every feeling the characters have and make it a reality in our ears. Simply wonderful. The production is great.
I stayed up all night listening to this book. I needed to know what was going to happen, and the stakes keep getting higher. The cliffhanger wasn't as bad as previous ones, but of course, left me wanting more. I'm diving into book 4 today, although I'm told this cliffhanger will hurt.
We see Lina and Nord's relationship grow from strength to strength. I love them so much. We find out more secrets and their is a fair amount of action and questions to keep you on your toes.
Shane East and Stella Hunter continue to surpass all expectations with this series and how they're growing with the characters is fabulous. The emotion in this book was palpable in the performances, and I just adore their book on it. The production was brilliant.
