I wanted to give it 4 but I couldn't because I hate any moment with the main girl. Not Evelyn but the one that she is giving the tell all she is just uhh. Also the whole ordeal with keeping bringing up that she is biracial at random points just made me extra mad. But I just love Evelyn and Harry and Celia just honestly the whole parts where she is talking about the past. I also like how she is open to say that yeah she knows that she isn't a good person and accepts that. I don't think I'm obsessed with the book I think I'm obsessed with Evelyn like that women truly is an icon and if this book was just about her and we didn't have to see the whole thing with the main girl it would be an instant 5 star for me because the story she was telling about her life was just amazing. Like we followed her for multiple decades talking about her life and I loved everything about it. Idk I wish I could rate it higher but I can't but I truly have become a advocate for this book like I would truly recommend it to people because her story is just so fun to read.
Update thought about it and there's so much micro aggressions and aspects that play into white authors writing POC characters. It's a good book plot wise though
The only thing that comes to mind when I think about this book is that Caroline from Vampire Diaries audio on TikTok when she says “Did I say stand there and look stupid? No! I said burn it” and that exactly what that man needs to be burned shit honestly the whole book in of itself
I loved being able to see all the Spring Siblings get the ability to have there own POV it was cute read ❤️ I love how close they all are as well
It's mostly a 4.5 going toward a 5 star but it was so good. Like the beginning is leading you toward the big climax and omg I love it so much I can't wait to start the next book
I didn't have any connection to the characters it was like so much was happening yet I still couldn't grasp who the character were really. I like the book but by the end it was pretty boring also towards the end bc I couldn't connect with the characters. They were happy but it felt like I was ready for the book to end like 58% into the book. Not a bad book just wish we could have more character background and less time jumps in the beginning of there relationship.
4.75/5 it was an amazing but truly deep read I loved it I mean it took so much emotion out of me. I think it was something that was needed like it truly did allow me to really come to mind that I actually like school more than I lead on. Let me explain I hate school I mean it but what I want for my future I need school and I actually want to be here. Alice Oseman does an amazing job at mental health rep. They really allowed me to see how one's future doesn't need to be determined by others but yourself. And that you have people who are there to help you even if you don't think so. Now do I wish this book didn't center around Alex as much. Yes. But I also loved that I just wish it didn't feel like Frances was a black main character who sole purpose of her book was to save her white friend. Idk. I do believe this book was more than just that but I can see where things could get misconstrued. Anyways such a deep emotional read loved it. Easily one of the best Alice Oseman book I've read.
The more I think about this book the more enraged by it bc there ain't no way these motherfuckers so have ended up together sorry but that secret babes is life altering I just can't get passes that
The moment she said in the epilogue that she was going to propose to them I was getting war flashbacks to those women who be on they knees proposing to they “man”I just had to stop I made it far enough
It was honestly a fun read def a different take on the Angel lore which was fun and I enjoyed the cast of characters the ending ngl was a shock to me not bad but still did not especially the author to go that route anyways still a good series migjt continue book 2 when I have time
I was kind of disappointed with this one bc I thought it would be a mix of past and present but it wasn't and I hate that about it it feels like we just reread book 1 all over again anyways it was still entertaining but not expected
Very disappointed I had high expectations for this book after book 2 but there wasn't really anything happening until the end
I'm not really a third act break up kind of girl but this one mad perfect sense so I'm excusing it but besides the point it was entertaining and good for the most part
Literally a million stars it was so good the ending broke me but omg I love them so much ❤️
