I literally wanted to grab Mari and shake her every time she got back with Nate… Like girl, LET HIM GO.
What Nate did on Mari’s birthday was shitty, he didn’t even have the decency to attempt to clear up the situation. Thank god for the mix-up with the courier otherwise, she would’ve gotten back together with him for the hundredth time despite everyone around her telling her that she deserved better.
I wish there was less time spent on Nate and more time spent with Chev even if it was just “Hi, how are you?” throughout the year or even in class but they gave us absolutely nothing. She just ran away from him at every turn, the MCs did not get together until like 70% into the novella. By the time they finally got together, I was like “Ugh, finally.”

This book follows Harper, a woman running away from her last relationship–an abusive relationship that left her completely isolated and dependent on her partner. This was an okay read it reminded me of the movie Safe Haven (I LOVE THAT MOVIE). Some parts seemed repetitive to me, but the suspense was good. I enjoyed Harper and Nolan’s ending; she deserved it after everything her ex put her through.

This is such an interesting way to tell a story. It had me stressed the hell out but that’s reality. Needless to say, I disliked Melody. I loved Granny though, she was too funny which was nice considering this book goes into how scary social media is/could be. It’s scary that this is so realistic, this is really how the “podcast bros” talk to and about women. I did like the “She Knows, She Knows” moment I got with the last email from the concerned stranger after Tiana emailed for help. I caught it immediately and figured out who was emailing her.

Well, this one sure was interesting. Dove is a recovering alcoholic and works at a casino… serving drinks. She has some serious self-control if she’s able to be around alcohol without the urge for a taste. She meets Russell who is hired to KILL her, but this is not her first rodeo with a man that’s trying to hurt her. That’s the whole reason she’s in this mess to begin with. It’s a bit confusing but I guess it all worked out in the end for her. The story was alright, but it’s definitely not my favorite in this collection.

OH WHAT A SHITTY PERSON JOANNA WAS! I felt for Hillary, I really did. All she wanted was to find her child and here came Joanna to take advantage of her pain and her situation for some cash. I don’t know why I didn’t think of Joanna being a possible scammer, I guess I just wanted to believe Hillary had finally found the daughter she’d been looking for. I loved the plot and I wish this short read would’ve been longer.

Great short read, and very entertaining but that’s to be expected from Minka. I loved how all the wives came together to protect one. That is true friendship. That ending was unexpected yet so satisfying. If you haven’t read Minka Kent yet I suggest you do so. Truly a great writer.

I am grateful that this was such a short read because I don’t think I would’ve been able to deal with Rupert for a full-length book. I know Rupert lost his wife but damn that man was annoying as hell. It’s like his whole personality was his wife and now it’s his wife’s death. My goodness, the MC (Michael) deserves a prize for not jumping over tables just to smack Rupert across the face, he was incredibly disrespectful and intrusive drilling Michael about his failed relationship and it seemed like the group used “he just lost his wife” as an excuse even though they followed with “it’s not an excuse but still”.
I was so glad when Kate (Rupert’s sister) stood up for Michael after he spoke to her about leaving the trip early. The bomb that she dropped was crazy but also, how am I not surprised that Rupert was an absolute jerk to his wife?
That ending was… WOW, did not expect that lol. Kate and that ending are the only reason why I added another star.

I’ve read some filthy books, but this one takes the cake… Holy shit, Malachi gave no fucks.
I feel like someone should stop Jennifer from fostering more children… paying someone to take your 16yo child’s virginity and whoring her out to keep your son out of jail is diabolical.
Jamieson should’ve been more present and he shouldn’t have gone along with Malachi’s adoption if he was going to treat him like crap.
Malachi got fucking issues. His POV was crazy (especially on audio) he sounds CRAZY as HELL. My jaw was on the floor when they got caught and Malachi could NOT be pulled off that girl, that was shocking yet hilarious because damn that boy was hungry. That one scene of them doing it over their almost-dead father was WILD. That man was so close to death and the MCs could not care less. I’m still shocked and questioning my morals. Oh, and I will never be able to look at a screwdriver the same ever again after reading this. The narrators did an amazing job as well. I like a book that can shock me, and this certainly did the job. This would be a book I recommend to a select few because it’s not for everyone.
