It just didn't do it for me the same way her other book did, I'm sorry. I think it reminded me too much of the worst parts of death of a bookseller
Love Amanda's writing and voice (and her other two books and her pod) sadly this one didn't hit for me as much as her other works — I think I that the a little bit memoir a little bit nonfiction/informative didn't work for me here
I think for me personally this book was 3 stars - it's no fault of the book at all, I just don't understand biology or ecology and I'm sad to say that I think a lot of this went over my head because it just doesn't click with me. Book was excellent and Robin is obviously a very talented writer + very knowledgeable on the subject I just unfortunately am not. Anyone who had a slight enjoyment of this boom should listen to her episode of Ologies with Alie Ward (called Bryology) it was excellent and she's a wonderful speaker!!
ask me for a better opinion when I get a larger print copy of this book because I'm sure I missed a lot because of this teeeeny academic font
so there were about 10 and a half good poems in this. (For the record there are 77 poems in here - def on purpose very clever — which makes about 13% of this good)
The “titles” honestly were better than just about every poem.
Middle school me would've ATE THIS UP tho
This was so fun (ending pissed me off a little but oh well) I don't understand all the haters on here
I can't tell you a darn thing that happened here that isn't in the synopsis. This was a miss for me, boring boring boring
Just as good the second time around. I will say I'm a sucker for knowing things but i remember loving it the first time not knowing the end too. I will say if there was any part that I should've been confused in, it was part 4. 8 years does make a difference reading though, I know I definitely understood more of the book (not just the foreshadowing but the rest) that I definitely didn't at 13. VERY excited to read book 2 hopefully tomorrow!
Even though I did enjoy this, I cannot in good conscience give it above a 3 because of the first 70% of the book that was world building and blah at best. That last 30 tho? I get the hype even as a non fantasy person.

Beauty and the beast: “yeah Sarah you can copy my work just make sure you change some words so it's not exact”
Sarah J Maas: writes ACOTAR
Had to add a star for no 3rd act breakup but I genuinely hated both of them — hurts my feelings bc I love Tessa :(
The description is so misleading and I probably wouldn't have read this if the description was accurate.
I enjoyed this but it definitely needed some editing and polishing as parts were very redundant. I loved hearing the author read the book! I just wish there was more reflection than repetition here
Ugh. Maybe it's because fantasy isn't for me. Maybe ya fantasy is just so much worse. Maybe this book just sucked??? It's a tragedy I read this truly
1.) some of y'all on Goodreads are haters bc you don't understand what lit fic is as a genre
2.) justice for my girl Kennedy!!!
Cute fun, had to lose a star because of the 3rd act breakup of course. Here's to hoping there's books about the other Devlin sisters though !!
Also what a beautiful cover truly
Borrrrrinnnnnnngggggg. Also ever chapter felt like the ending to a wattpad fic imo
In all reality this is probably closer to a 4 star read but I had to give it the extra star for no 3rd act breakup.
I love the whole Yee Yee vibe going on here, it was something different, I love Emmy's dad and Teddy, and I think the characters were all just right, it wasn't like they were working super hard on developing, but there was some progression and I appreciate that in a romance novel. Also yay adhd representation
The Road, but better. I will probably reread this again in a few years as I feel it is a book that will change as I age just like the narrator. Bleak af tho but there's still hope and love in there which when it comes down to it is what life is all about
There are some books that just open your eyes to the world, and as soon as you finish them you're not the same person. The gist of Thirteen Reasons why is that Hannah Baker committed suicide and decides to leave 13 audio tapes to describe what pulled her to kill herself. This leaves Clay in the dark. What could he possibly have done to lead her to his? As Hannah describes each event, Clay follows her story to different places in town, trying to piece together her story.
This powerful book opens the eyes of readers about the consequences of their actions and what they say to people. This is certainly a book every person should read in their lifetime.
Themes: Suicide, Sex, Love, Betrayal
Rating: 4.75/5
4.5 rounded up. I really enjoyed this one, only disappointing part was how much the main character's husband wasn't central to the plot. It was good but sometimes it felt like she couldn't do anything without him
