Why this book?
I just love the New Crobuzon books so much! I picked this up in a charity shop because it sounded interesting and it became one of my favourite books of all time, and Chine Miéville my favourite author. The prose is vivid and beautiful and the world-building is top notch.

Why this book?
This book ignited my love of science fiction. I read it again as an adult and was amazed by how prescient it was for a book written before social media - and 'feeds' - were even a thing. I still enjoy reading this from time to time.
