This was a lot of fun, in a bubblegum movie kind of way. I look forward to the next book.
I wrote a full review at SFF Book Review.
I am currently reading book 2 in the series (and hoping very much for book 3 to come out next year) which reminded me that this is one of my favorite fantasy books ever and I haven't officially squeed about it.
The characters drew me in immediately and I cound't get enough of the dialogue. It was sooo good. There's swearing, there are allusions to sex, there are moments when people vomit for an entire night and Scott Lynch makes it hilarious and thrilling at the same time. Do you really need to hear more than fantasy con men?
Personally, I can not get enough of Scott Lynch's writing and if the next book doesn't come out in 2013, I'll be more than happy to re-read the first two. This is what makes fantasy great. Authors coming up with new things, mixing tropes and original ideas.
If you like fantasy and you haven't read this book, pick it up now.

What a fun Discworld adventure. For all of those who have had enough of crazy Ankh-Morpork for a while and want to enjoy the country air, so to speak, Tiffany Aching's first adventure is just the thing.
Living on the Chalk, herding sheep and making excellent cheese, Tiffany has decided whe wants to be a witch. When strange creatures start appearing and Tiffany has to stare a headless rider into the eyes it doesn't have, she knows trouble is brewing. Then her brother Wentworth disappears and Tiffany has only her trusted frying pan and an army of little, blue men in kilts and with a preference for strong licqor to aide her in rescuing him.
This was fun on many levels and I can't wait to read more about Tiffany, a heroine so wonderful all other YA novels should learn from her.
7,5/10 - almost 8/10

I didn't completely love The Wee Free Men but I adored every book in the Tiffany Aching series that came after it. For a full review click the link above. The short of it is that Pratchett is not only a master storyteller and a crafter of brilliant, human characters (witches and Nac Mac Feegles included), but he also manages to combine hilarious moments with serious thoughts.
I wish more young girls would read Tiffany Aching.
DNF at 36% because there still is no plot and, in this volume, not even the characters are interesting.
I only gave this a chance because my library had the audiobook and I like multiple readers for the different POV characters. But even their valiant effort couldn't save this pretentious non-story.
One of the weaker ones. There's veeeeery little plot, but at least Cora was a bit more likeable than usual. Here's hoping the next instalment will be another hit.

I fell in love with the Flora books fast and hard, and I still can't believe that this is the last part. While it was another fun and clever adventure with our charmingly original heroine Flora, this instalment in the trilogy didn't keep me at the edge of my seat as much as book two did.
Many things are left unresolved and beg for a fourth book - but overall, this can be read as another standalone (even though you would deprive yourself of some major plot twists).
I recommend the entire trilogy with all my heart. To all those who enjoy clever, funny young adult books and, like me, have a soft spot in their heart for little red dogs called Flynnie.
The story took a while to find its footing but once the romance plot started, it got really good! I am very unsure how I feel about the ending but I adored Hook!
Yet another bad book aimed at young adults. I'm starting to think authors believe all teenagers are morons who dislike interesting characters and the idea of an engaging plot. Full review here: http://sffbookreview.wordpress.com/2012/05/07/myra-mcentire-hourglass/
