A quick short read that was interesting. I chose to read this first before trying the series. Certainly an interesting peek into the Krinar series.
A sweet short romance by one of my favourite authors. A quick little time filler and an enjoyable read.
Maybe it's because I'm reading this series back to back that I can see the inconsistencies; not sure but I do. That and the typos and the ‘c' word annoy me. Despite that I love the main characters and the storylines and look forward to to next book regardless of those issues.
I was so hoping for this story when I'd finished book 1 in the series and I wasn't disappointed. However, there are repeated glitches in the timeline the author really should fix. Other than that, a good read and look forward to the next book.
Minor spoiler warning: I only got 29% into this before giving up. The sex scenes were not written that well. Despite her pleasure, the first two sessions were him taking her without consent and she basically accepts it. The third one just had me groaning in annoyance. Outside of the sex scenes, him mentally going on and on about his previous live was too frequent and his alpha Tarzan routine was too clichéd. The rest that I had read in that 29% had promise but needs refining due to wordiness and being clunky and awkward. Maybe one day I might finish this but it won't be any time soon.
Enjoyed the story and the cons are the same as previous books in the series. Despite that, I'm looking forward to the next book.
What an enjoyable read. Despite suspecting the end, I still bawled my eye out; so, tissues needed warning if that way inclined. I look forward to the next book.
For the most part, the story was enjoyable. However, the moment the first part of a particular set of the story was reached, it ruined it for me and I knew exactly who and what the scenario was (if done correctly, I normally don't know until it's revealed to either victim or cop; not in this case, unfortunately). Then add the use of the ‘c' word plus a few other mistakes and that's the reason for the star rating given.
This appears to be the last in the series, which is a shame. I have enjoyed this series and this book immensely.
Nice little back story to the main female character from book one of the series. This can be read before book one or at any stage during the series. Onto the next book for me.
Super short, quick read. I would have liked more but I liked Arus and Delia's story. A nice little addition to the Krinar series. However, authors really should do research about virginity before writing sex scenes about female characters losing their virginity. The hyman is NOT that far into the vagina. This is the third story (two of which are by this author) who have written that scene wrong. I actually researched it to ensure my knowledge was correct before writing this review.
This is one of those moments where I suck at leaving reviews because I don't really know what to say. Apart from the excessive number of sex scenes, each of them with descriptions and giving the occasional impression that the story was written around those scenes, the story itself held my interest sufficiently that I finished it in one day.
I did enjoy the Mia and Korum Krinar series. I found Mia somewhat annoying in the first two books and a better character in the third. The revelation of the antagonist so soon was a letdown for me, though. This lost a star due to the use of the ‘c' word; I don't think I'll ever get used to it. Nor do I want to, to be honest. Other than that, I'm looking forward to the next Krinar story.
For me, a tear jerker so if you tend to cry you might want some tissues near by. While there were issues, I enjoyed this and was glad to read there will be another book to be released soon.
I don't remember the mention of Jake in previous Scanguards stories but being just a mention in any of them, it's not surprising when I'm engrossed in the main characters. However, I did enjoy this quick read and am eager to start the next in the series.
I love the character!
I had the pleasure of beta reading this story.
This is the journey of a child becoming a man, while other children are still playing, when his destiny comes calling. I love the character, Forrest. He is a wonderful mix of the innocent child he is with the adult destiny he was born with. The author, Leonard, has done a fantastic job of writing the scenario in such a way that I believed it. After all, that is the job of the author... write something that disbelief can not enter the reader's mind while immersing them into that fictional world.
For me, this is another awesome addition to my collection of other works by Leonard D. Hilley II. I eagerly await his next, regardless of what series or setting he writes.
I have enjoyed other origin stories and this was no different. The only issue wi the use of a modern term that didn't exist in that context back then. Even the origins of the main characters do not explain the use of that word. As a result, it had torn me out of that time period as my mind dwelled on it instead of staying in the story. I look forward to reading the next book.
Another enjoyable read to the series. Now to wait to see if there will be more to the Scanguards series.
Read this in one sitting...
I had the joy of beta reading this book. This review does not contain spoilers. Deimos is the latest in the Darkness series and I enjoyed it as much as the previous books in the series. I love the characters and was able to connect with each and found them to be believable. The ending wasn't what I was expecting and I loved that twist. Leonard is an amazing storyteller and an incredibly diverse writer in regards to genre and age levels. I have no problems in jumping onto his next book, regardless of what it is, to eagerly devour it.
This has received 3 stars due to grammar / spelling errors. This is not my normal genre and I only read it because the first couple of chapters intrigued me. While I may not be a religious person, I don't mock others for their beliefs and what follows is based solely on the movie/novel genre this book is set.
Despite liking the story enough to finish it, I found it clichéd. To me, it was a mix of the following movies: The Exorcist; The Omen 1, 2 and 3; The Haunting of Hill House; Poltergeist; and The End Of Days. Plus a number of other stories one might want to add in. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it didn't leave much as a surprise for me and this is not my genre.
One last thing, this needs another round of proofreading to catch the few errors that caught my eye. But, as I said, this was interesting enough for me to finish it.
First, let me say that I am not a fan of MC stories I received this as a gift, hence why I have it. Now, despite not liking MC stories in general, I enjoyed this. Once again, author Aden Lowe has weaved an incredible story. Crank's language was a bit much for me at times; being frequent as it was but I enjoyed the storyline. I especially loved the character Chancey. You have to read to story to learn about Chancey. That's all I'm saying.
Not really a scary story but the suggestive suspense was okay. Might have been more so if I'd read this at night. Didn't like the secondary character called Tessa, at all. Other than that, an enjoyable read to pass the time.
