I think the rating would've been higher if I'd listened to the English audiobook, but since it wasn't available I had to resort to the Dutch version. The translation was really bad, especially during romantic scenes, it was just awkward. Perhaps I'll do a reread soon, but for now 3 stars. I also still had a lot of unanswered questions at the end, which sucks.
I have mixed feelings about this one... I liked the writing, but I expected more of the story, not a lot happened tbh. Felt more like a WWI fiction than a fantasy. Not sure yet if I want to read the sequel.
Enjoyable, especially in the beginning since I was flying through it. However in the ending my interest in the story slowed down a bit. I will be reading the second book though!
I loved the first 75% of the book, but then it became a bit dull when things were just uneventful for a while. Overall, still enjoyed the story but expected more in the end.
I had a hard time following all that was happening during battle scenes. While listening to the audiobook, the narrator talked super fast during those scenes so I often had to skip back a few seconds to get a grip of what was going on. And also, I didn't understand a lot of decisions certain characters made, they don't make sense to me. But, since the plot did leave me hanging a bit, I'm intrigued about the next book.
Loved this book! I was desperately reading through it because I wanted to know how it ended and if the main characters were meant to be. The writing is phenomenal, I had a really clear image about what the apartment
and the characters looked like.
Had me on the edge of my seat multiple times, with many plot twists I didn't see coming!
I enjoyed this book, but the fact that the whole plot is just about miscommunication doesn't sit well with me.
Still love this series with all my heart. Since I had only watched the movies before, I felt like I missed a lot of background information about certain characters. But now this has cleared up, luckily! Stephen Fry, the narrator, also made the whole experience of listening a lot more enjoyable.
Cute, lovely little romance. Loved the character development a lot and I fell hard for the ‘bodyguard'.
Oh my it's been a while since I've been smiling at a book almost the whole time. Loved the playful romance and the suspense throughout the book!
Loved the concept and her writing, but there were too many predictable moments in the book and a lot of tropes.
Cute little romance. I could also really relate to Bailey, being a child of divorced parents myself. The author did a really good job describing the thoughts and feelings a teenager goes through while experiencing that.
Loved this book! I've been playing tennis for a couple of years now, but even for those who don't know anything of the sport this is still an amazing book. It shows some hard working characters who'll do anything to win. 5/5
A very sweet meet cute, with a lovely sunshine vs. grumpy trope. In the beginning there was a lot of ‘baby talk', while the characters are in their 30's. That threw me off a little, but loved how the story continued.
She's done it again, Lucinda Riley still is one of my favorite authors. With this one being her only detective novel, she still captivates the reader and manages to keep the suspense during the whole book. Loved this one, still sad about the fact she's no longer with us.
This book was a shock, I couldn't put it down! It was hard and uncomfortable to read about what she's been through, but I also think it's good that this story is out there.
Enjoyable, but even with the audiobook I missed a bit of the action here and there. Some action scenes could've had more elaboration to really suck the reader into the book, instead they flew by.
Loved this book with all of my heart. I find it amazing to think about the fact that for 10 years, Lucinda had been planning the end of the series and had been putting small hints in the previous books, for it all to come together in the final book. Perfect ending for an amazing series.
