Having seen the movie beforehand I knew what I was going to read and it came through. Fun read overall.
Amazing! Had to read chapter 6 a few times before I can move on. Love reading these life changing moments about others.
Haven't read this in a while but have been wanting to read it again. Then I found this manga and figured it would be easier to read, which it was.
Took a while to finish but wow, everything Edgar Allan Poe has done in one book. I was mostly wanting to read it because I read some of his short stories in high school. What story really intrigued me was his novel The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket. Reminded me of The Wager by David Grann.
Tough book to read, but managed to get through it. Wasn’t expecting it to read into my soul but helpful in what I had to look at myself to change.
I've read this before as the book. This manga was from a copy from the library and was in PDF format so I couldn't read it very well. The story was good, it had the main points and added narration to it. The only downside I had was the format I read it in.
The story continues. A little more background for the main characters. Very interesting.
Liked some of the ideas that it had, but kept giving some grammar lessons as well. I liked them at first but it was distracting at times.
Easy to understand if reading on own. A little difficult going back and forth when praying with others.
Finally started reading it through. Great book, definitely worth a listen more than once.
Took me a while to read. Plenty of information that I had not known even after watching the movie but quite fascinating. A little too much information at times as there was a lot going on but gets the point across.
Very informative. Breaks down things so they are easy to understand and be able to focus on them. Can’t wait to try the recipes.
3.5
Informative, but a bit sluggish at the beginning. It captured my attention a little more towards the end. Could have been the type of anecdotes that just weren't resonating with me.
Wow, it's a tough read based on the content. But the descriptions the author makes on this case linking it with her life is just excellent.
Maybe it's my conservative Christian upbringing that made me dislike this book. I understand it's a commentary on how society was and still is. We tend to be obsessive about things and people mostly. And in our journey to obtain them, we go down roads that are not healthy for us. The writing was great, the descriptions, everything. Just that for me I just couldn't get into the book.
Great book, learned a lot. Each story from the youth gave a clear picture on what they were going through at the time.
First time I read it I liked it. Interesting read and liked that the main character was learning to heal from the past.
This second time I read it, I still liked it but a little less. What stuck out the most I felt like the “big bad guy” in the second half of the novel foreshadowed. Though I had forgotten most of the plot from when I first read it I was really hoping the bad guy was someone else.
