This story is told in two parts One in England and then moves to America in the west and then back to England. A man is killed and Sherlock is called in to figure out who did it and how. Of course he does it but then the story moves to America to fill in the story before the murder. I found the American part of the story a bit drawn out but by the end it was very satisfying.
I read this series out of order so when the plot jumped I was not ready for it. Up until about halfway it didn't matter and even after they explained a lot. But I am intrigued enough to go back a book or two in the series. Rave parties are being set up by vampires to feed on. It seems the Master vampire is actually trying to get the main character Jessica's attention. She got away from him many times over the years and he will kill all those she loves to get to her. The romance is fairly predicable and so is the story but a fun read nonetheless
This was by far the best of the books. Almost hated to see it end. This one had me guessing and changing my mind as to who MacKayla was.
This is in the Harlequin Nocturne series. Gideon Raintree is a homicide detective that has special powers that his entire Raintree line has although some have slight different ones. Gideon can talk to the dead. He uses this gift to solve his cases. Hope is assigned as his new partner. The Raintrees are targeted by Ansara wizards who want their powers or have them dead. Gideon winds up having to protect Hope as she finds out his secret and is targeted by Ansara as well.
This was an excellent book. I had a hard time putting it down. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
This was a really engrossing read. I listened to it on audible.com and it was fantastically done. I found I was looking for more things to do to listen longer.
Another enjoyable book about Sookie Stackhouse. I was told that most people did not seem to enjoy this book. I don't understand that since I enjoyed it very much. Granted there was not as much activity as usual. But lots of storytelling being done.
I enjoyed this book. I really like the fact that the book uses the world of the Navajo to tell this story.
I like that the Layla has a very different power, electrocution and mind reading from an accident. She is a loner because of it. She meets Vlad in interesting circumstances. The book is very fast paced and stippled with some satirical humor. I listened to it in just one sitting. I found reasons to keep listening to it.
I really enjoyed this continuation of this series. I am looking forward to the next in this series.
the book was really good. I enjoyed the book and had a hard time putting it down. Of course there was a climatic ending which I guessed almost at the end before they revealed it.
Cat is now dealing with being a full vampire instead of half breed. But she is still different from every other vampire as she gets nourishment from other vampires not humans. But she also gets their special ability for a while as well. There is a species war between the ghouls and vampires being stirred up by an old enemy. Bones and Cat are really great together. They exchanges are so loving and sometimes very funny. I really enjoyed Vlad in this as well. I am glad he's still around. Series is still great.
Rose, Jack and the doctor encounter a problem where a Neanderthal man winds up in current day World. They go back in time to the Neanderthal time and find out how it happened. They run into Chantal who is from the future and her people who used a time travel device to go into the past.
This has a lot funny lines and situations. I loved it.
I read it then had to listen to it on audio. It is read by Anthony Stewart Head who does such a great job with all the different voices.
The doctor and Martha arrive on a dead ship that is barely working. But what killed the inhabitants and why is there a whole other world connected to it. They go into this other world which it seems the kids are disappearing. This one was part sci-fi and part fantasy. The ending is interesting. You can read these books out of order and it is fine.
This was a fantastic book. The characters are very fleshed out as the book goes on. There are some loose ends that you want to find out what happened. The time jump in the book was a bit off kilter but later it made some sense why the author did that. I still would like to have that story of the in between time. This is a very different take on the vampire story. Being a made made virus. You could almost see it happening in real life. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. There are a few questions raised that I would have liked answered. 1)Amy is supposed to be almost 100 but she seems to be only about 15 years old in appearance. Does she age slowly and then stopped? 2) what happened to Amy in those years. She was 6 when she was left alone. How did she survive? 3) Why was the doctor developing the virus in the first place and why would you want a super soldier that had criminal backgrounds.
Peabody, Emerson and their precocious son Rames are off on an excavation site in Egypt. Rames is a handful always going off and getting into stuff. I think the child is 3 but he acts like 30. There is a mummy case of which Emerson has declared worthless but it is stolen anyway. Peabody thinks there is more to it and gets herself involved in trying to find out just what is going on there. There are clashing religious leaders as well. Are they involved in the thefts or just warring with each other.
Another delightful installment of this series.
I was happy to see that I didn't need to have read all the prior Katie MacAlister books to enjoy this one. There are characters from other books in here but it is not essential to know them for the story plot. I am looking forward to the next one in this series.
This was so good and potato chippy. I could not put it down.
Mercy's friend Samuel is having trouble with being a wolf and his wolf takes over. Her friend Finn is missing. Someone in the pack is making trouble for her. She has a lot to deal with but does it with her usual bluntness and flair. So looking forward to the next book.
This was just like reading the TV show “Castle” I could see the the characters very clearly.
Abby Normal wants to become a vampire but instead she's living with her older boyfriend and watching over the statues of Jody and Flood to make sure they come to no harm. There are vampire cats roaming the city killing everything in site and Abby with her boyfriend and a couple of cops are trying to stop Chet the lead vampire cat from destroying the city. Christopher Moore always has offbeat characters and I wind up laughing a lot.
Eric Brewster is so happy that they are going to join his friends at the Summer resort town, his friends go to every year. His family rents a house that has been boarded up for years called Pinecrest. Once there they go exploring and find an old cottage filled with odd stuff. They always seem to lose time while in there. Coming out hours later and not realizing how long they were there.
Strange murders start happening in the town and the boys start having nightmares about killing people, only they all have the same dreams. Could the room have anything to do with the murders?
The story constantly grew and I was never bored. There were the boys who are bullying the three friends but that is only part of the story. There were a couple of triggers like the death of a cat and a dog, but they were quick and not too drawn out.
