Nice children book of rhymes. Only the Czech translation sometimes lacks originality and the right rhyme. But the illustrations are beautiful.
What a nice nice combination of classical fairytale and story of P.T. Barnum. This is exactly what I would await from retelling. Recommended! 80%
A must have for all Land of Stories fans. You get some background to some characters as those are based on real people from Chris' life. Also there is an overview of all destinations and characters as well as some versions of book covers etc. And this time fully illustrated by Brandon Dorman ❤️
If you like Dungeons&Dragons then this book is exactly for you. Collection of three stories full of action, blood and magic... Pure fantasy. Recommended.
If you like gamebooks, then you should choose this one. It is horror themed and you have more possible endings. It was a good reading with some scary moments. Definitely recommended!
Artur Mumby strikes again and this time he needs to beat evil top hats. Accompanied with beautiful ilustrations by David Wyatt, this is definitely something worth reading for all fans of steampunk and scifi.
Kellen has the fourth book mostly for himself as Ferius Parfax and Reichis are aside most of the time and in my eyes this is what is the worst about the book and makes it one of weekest ones in the series so far. But still, we learn some news about the black shadow as we headed to the new area of Ebony Abbey. I am really interested what is Sebastien de Castell keeping for us for the last two books.
This was something unbelievable. A combination of multiple styles is something which makes this book really unique. Retelling of an unknown fairytale, detective story or a mysterious thriller? Maybe even a horror? All of that served to us in one book. Perfect reading for autumn evenings...
If you are a fan of Ranger's Apprentice, then this is a must read for you. Even though it's only an addition to the main story, those short stories are good for the whole story and the world around.
This was really nerve-racking ending to the main Maze Runner trilogy. I was feeling it all the way with Thomas and the last 50 pages were really the best. Now I am looking forward the two prequels to see what background does it all have.
My beloved story I know so well from the movie. The book doesn't bring nothing new unfortunately, but it is a good choice if you love Egypt and mummies.
This was really interesting reading. Combination of young adult with a witchcraft and a little bit of a mystery. The middle part was a little bit overmixed, but the ending was better. I am looking forward to the next book as I can't imagine what it may be about.
I really enjoyed this one, Amari is a likeable character and it is interesting to see her as an outsider who tries not to fail during the exams. Let's be honest, the idea on its own isn't completely original, but in the combination with current topics it works pretty good and you can expect few plot twists near the end. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Everytime I read it, I find something new... This is for sure my favourite book ever...
I just love illustrations by Chris Riddell everywhere. So this short story from the Nordic mythology is no exception. The Nordic atmosphere is amazing and you can feel the cold from those illustrations.
This was (again) so amazing. It is a must read for all who already read the previous two books. I just love this future dystopic world and how everything works there. Only the waiting for book 4 will be again too long, I am afraid. If you want an original fantasy/scifi, this is a perfect choice!
Perfect poems with a Christmas theme, the story and illustrations by Tim Burton are clever and nice. I think it is good to see how it started and what was the basis for the well known animated movie from 1993.
Very nice story for children. It tells a story of a family which is leaving Prague for summer holidays to their grandma. They face many difficulties on the way, but in the end, all is well, as it is a book for children. Being from the region of western Bohemia is a good thing, as then you will enjoy reading much more as you know those places where the story takes place.
This was pure nostalgia. As I grew up on Ducktales, I really enjoyed all my favourite characters and the story of chasing the lucky 5 cent.
What an ending! But it's something which is for sure Shusterman's strength. The story flows until the last quarter or third of the book and then the final mayham starts... I already look forward the last book in the series about Scythes. Perfect choice for all dystopies lovers.
I am really glad the quality went again high. Loved IT. After weaker fourth book, the fifth one was again funny, dangerous and interesting. Even though full of new characters and a lot of intrigues, especially the second half is quite drastical, much more when compared to previous books in the series.
It was a good reading indeed. I was a little bit surprised how quickly I got back in the story, places and characters even though it was really a long time ago when I read previous parts. The lower rating is just because of the fact that maybe I would enjoy it a little bit more if I were a little bit younger. But still I recommend this as a fun and relaxing reading for everyone.
I wasn't really aware of what to expect from this book except from an amazing cover. And I get a dark book full of mystery and tension which I enjoyed from the first page to the last one. A solid 90% rating that would fit 4,5* out of 5*. Strongly recommended if you like haunted mansions.
4,5/5... This was surpridingly good middle grade crime story full of adventure. It has nice illustrations and also a good story which goes in an unexpected direction. I strongly recommend it to everyone who loves trains, just like I do.
I loved the style of the paintings in this comic book. And the story is full of action, even though a little bit scary and quite brutal. I am curious about the next 5 books, which I will definitely read soon as well.
