This book is a masterpiece, you feel like you get to know all the characters so, so well. Seeing their childhoods and parts of their adult lives really builds that connection to them, even the ‘bad' guys. Then there is the story itself, while surprisingly for me I didn't find it as scary as I thought I would, don't get me wrong will walk away from clowns forever, it was gripping, horrific, exciting and lots of other great things!
Some of the best character interactions I've ever read and for a horror book, moments that were so funny I spat coffee or food everywhere.
For a book thats over 1000 pages there is not a single one that felt redundant or wasted. This is by far the best King book I've read and has cemented him as an author I must work harder to read more from.

“Just because something's inevitable, doesn't mean it can't wait. Otherwise, why get out of bed? Why do anything at all?”
A very solid fantasy book, with great characters and very interesting magic! My interest dropped off in the middle a touch but I think that was more me than the book itself.
Will definitely be moving onto Legacy of Steel soon
Still one of my favourite books ever! Fantastic on a re-read/listen! I do get less interested as we get nearer the present day but thats just my love of history up to the Tudor period! The scope is just mind blowing, to follow an area for thousands of years through history is brilliant! Love how the generations of characters flow and feuds come and go and linger!
Truly a masterpiece! Would recommend to everyone
And yes I am biased because its my home town!

Wow what can I say! Im not the worlds biggest sci-fi fan nor do I claim to have good science knowledge but holy crap this book was fantastic! 90-95% of the science went over my head but the characters and the story were so brilliant!
If you think the science would be too much, please try this book!
The struggles of humanity were so real and you really got sucked in to every aspect of the story! This book made me do science homework for the first time in roughly 16 years when I looked up exactly what the three body problem was (still not exactly sure) and looked up other solar systems so I could have a slightly better understanding! Thats impressive as I didn't like doing science homework when I had too!
Overall, fantastic book, everyone should try this and I will be moving on to the sequels very soon.
This was my first GGK book and wow, its was fantastic! Set in a anglo-saxon/celtic/norse world that has many things plucked from real history and given a fantasy tweak. With many characters who would be recognised by other names in our own history, King Alfred the Great, Ivar the Boneless, potentially King Arthur and Merlin (might be stretching on that one).
The characters were great and I love any book that has a setting like this one so it was always going to be a winner for me!
Will definitely be tackling more GGK!

This was intense! Emotional, impactful, breathtaking and heartbreaking!
“Breathe. Dive into the breath. Let it carry you to the core of yourself, where your strength lies.”
Probably my least favourite of the series so far but the fact that I still think its a 4.5 should tell you everything!
Found a new favourite character in Cunomar, his growth was next level and loved reading anything with him in it!
Itching to start the final book and will do very soon.
This book was great! Engaging, different and it boggled my tiny mind! But in a good way! Characters were incredible, a joy to read about and share their story! The setting was beautifully created and described! There were plenty of twists and turns I did not see coming!
Cannot wait to get the next instalments in the trilogy!
Yet again Mark Lawrence delivers for me! Loved every book I've read so far!
Wow!! I loved this first time round but I actually loved it even more second time!
Such a fantastic cast of characters that you cannot help but fall in love with and see as completely real!
The writing is comforting and while its not a barrel of laughs the story is at the same time heartwarming and heartbreaking!
Cannot wait to continue rereading this amazing series!
“Hard times are here, boy And I wonder if they will ever pass.”
In the years to come, I was to wonder that often.”
I LOVED this book! The characters were brilliant, engaging, complex, likeable (for the most part, you know I'm talking about you) and fleshed out. The interactions between characters and the dialogue was probably my favourite aspect of the book!
The plot was simple but masterfully done with twists and turns that kept me wanting more. Thrilling, funny and a dern good time
This has slotted in as my second favourite book of all time and considering its only the second Western I've read, I will certainly be coming back for more!
