I am trying to gather my thoughts. I loved the beginning and the ending of the book! I have a problem with the middle part being confusing. I had trouble keeping my mind with the book at that point and that makes me sad, because I really, really liked the start.
The Exiled starts out very promising with good writing. The author knows how to suck the reader into the book, which I can really appreciate! But then when I came to the middle part of the book it lacked the flow it had at the start. I kept on reading, because I wanted to feel the same way I did in the beginning. I refound this feeling at the end. The last couple of chapters were of the same substance as the beginning.
When reading the book the reader follows three main characters, who are each given chapters from their own perspectives. This works pretty well and is handled well by the author. The characters are quite likeable and their own perspectives definitely adds to the story. I do believe the story could've been even better when it wasn't as confusing as it was at times, aka the middle part.
This just wasn't my book. Way too much vajajay talk ... Every page was filled with synonyms to the vulva. Ehh.
Rtc.
TW: Pesten, zelfverminking, anorexia, suïcidale gedachten, loverboys, obsessie, aanranding.
Top boek!
This series is about a teenage girl who happens to stumble into a parallel universe where people mistakenly assume she is her alternate, genius, self. The life of the genius is in danger. These books are great short reads, they are full of action and are very fast paced. They keep the reader hooked.
The characters are quirky. I ADORE them. I seriously did not think I would love these characters as much as I do now after finishing the third book. The story is compelling and the writing by the author is fantastic and surely whimsical at points.
I loved the romance between Laney and Noah so much. Star crossed lovers. Their romance definitely adds up to the amazing story it already was. As a reader you are rooting for them.
This series is great for readers who are looking for a fast paced, action packed, romantic, quirky and still want substance to their story. This series was more than just romance or action. It had a layer of trust and friendship which is a beautiful thing to discover while reading.
Thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy of her books. Although the books were gifted does not mean it will influence my thoughts. This is an 100% honest review
I loved the artwork. The story is cute.
I hope the author finishes the story at some point ^^
Reread 2021: still enjoyed it a lot. Bit less than three years ago, hence the lower rating.
Rating 2018: 4,75 stars.
Ugh, what a book.
Yep, I did not like it.
The assassin is the worst assassin in assassin history, you can't tell me otherwise.
RTC.
Reread 2021: I uh still don't like this part. I always like the beginning and then the middle part and last part just feel flat and meh.
My original rating of Insurgent was three stars, but I decided to lower it to two stars since I did not enjoy my reread as much.
I do like some of the plot twists, but I'm getting bored with Tobias and Tris tbh
2,75 stars.
It makes me sad that I did not like the book I was hoping to like so much.
The story and the characters fell flat for me. It kind of felt like someone wrote a fanfiction and decided to publish it (I'm so sorry).
I did like the boldness of the main character. I love me some strong ass women in stories! :D
The ending was the best part of the book in my opinion.
I am still conflicted if I want to read the second book or if I'm just gonna let this one drift away.
I liked the beginning, it had good and beautiful quotes. But after like thirty pages or something it felt so negative and repetitive. It really focuses on the negative side of dieting instead of on body positivity in my opinion.
I really hoped this book would've changed my feelings about my body, because I'm also at the curvy/plusside, but alas, it did not.
