I found this series for free on audible, and it's cute enough to listen to while walking, cooking etc.
An urban fantasy with a main character who is a grave witch and a private detective. Who isn't a fantastic fighter, but is the owner of a Chinese Crested. It's a fun series.
Well written, but I was never really gripped by it. But, then I often don't get along with historical novels written now.
Yes, I know; a movie tie-in edition. But, I bought the book around the time the movie came out, and I loved that movie. And I quite like the movie-poster.
I own a lot of short story collections and anthologies. I don't read them enough. So, I made a bit of a project. I put a few short story collections in my reading pile and tried to read a couple of stories each week. This is the first one I finished.
Eight very well-written stories. I didn't love all of them, though they were all very clever, and quite impressive. I didn't dislike any of them.
My favourite story was definitely Story of Your Life, that inspired the movie. But I also really appreciated Seventy-Two Letters, Hell Is the Absence of God and Liking What You See: A Documentary.
I'm definitely interested in reading Exhalation.
When my last book was finished I had originally planned to read some non-fiction for work, but I impulsively decided that in these difficult times I would instead read something funny, fluffy and romantic.
As usual, Ms Carriger did not disappoint!
This was great! Interesting characters, and charming (as well as feral) hippos. Waiting for part 2.
I really liked this, the atmosphere, the characters. I liked that Haskel stuck by Emily when things went wrong even if they had not been together for very long.
After reading this book sometime in the 90's I never read another book by Anne Rice. I really didn't like it. At all.
I was born and raised in Sweden, so these stories are not new to me. Gaiman's version is well written, but doesn't really bring anything new to the table.
I was considering not finishing this series. It has some tropes that annoy me, although they're not as big parts of the plot anymore. But, I already owned this part so I decided to read it in spite of that. And, they are kind of fun. I may continue after all.
Atmospheric, romantic and one of very few gay romantic relationships that I have read in fantasy. So far, at least.
I'm experimenting with audio books. They don't usually work very well for me, but I'm starting with re-reads of fun & easy reads and we'll see where I go from there.
I don't know about this. There were interesting parts, but it didn't really touch me.
I liked The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet more than this one, I think. But once
I got into this one I loved it too.
I found another series that is included on audible, and as I'm out of credits...this was cute.
I never finished this series when I read it years ago. Possibly for spider related reasons. Decided to give it another go. Exciting and entertaining.
Fairly fun mystery. I rather liked Molly, the main character. Was annoyed by the cliché of women putting each other down and trying to outdo each other, though. Will probably read more in the series.
