Read on recommendation from a friend.
Spicy scenes felt overwhelming lackluster and repetitive. I couldn’t find it in myself to like any of the characters. The flow of the book was hard to get through as POV seemed to jump from time to time without much pause or reasoning. Things felt too slow at times and too fast at others. I just couldn’t find it in myself to DNF this book so I begrudgingly finished it.
Dr. Campbell does it again. I found great insight in her book as someone married to a partner who experienced physical, emotional, verbal, and mental abuse at the hands of a narcissistic mother. I felt like I can better understand my partner and be more receptive to his needs. As I only see the outward, visible symptoms, understanding the inner working of his brain help me help him in his healing journey. While much of the book contains personal stories, in an almost journal-like fashion, I found the antidotes to be helpful. Lastly, I did find some healing within myself for the trauma I had at the hands of my mother in law during the time before my husband chose to go no-contact. I would recommend this book as a starting point for anyone in a similar situation and go from this book into some of the books used as a reference in this book.
This was a different read from Penelope Douglas than I am used to reading from her. However, I enjoyed that this one was less dark. The character development was good, the storyline was very interesting, and no unnecessary drama in the third act. I particularly enjoyed that Ryen and Misha has this beautiful history of being pen pals. It was fun and different.
Another great book from a great author. While Ariana and Cash’s story wasn’t my favorite in the series thus far, it was still a great book. Two hurt people falling in love with each other and finally finding home in each other was beautiful. Plus it was interesting to get the back story on two characters previously introduced.

I liked the premise of the story but felt like the characters were flat. Natalie’s only characteristic is being a mom and Jaxon’s only trait is hockey. Natalie clearly really needs some therapy after dealing with her (rather cliche) villainous ex husband. I mean what almost-King of a random country gives up full custody of his kids without a fight? Bad guy or not, the storyline of this evil ex had soooo much potential for drama but just didn’t deliver. Even the obstacles thrown in the way to create some drama fell flat. The only redeeming quality was that Jaxon was a good dad to the kids.
I really don’t see why Hoover felt the need to write this novella. Warren and Bridgette’s story was so BORING. Bridgette could have had a great backstory and character development but it fell so flat instead. And both Warren and Bridgette are kind of insufferable. I wanted to like them or just enjoy them being imperfect but instead I was bored and uninterested.
Listen. I like this author. I've read several of K. Hannah's books and enjoyed them immensely. This book just was not great. The writing was fine but it felt as though not enough research was done and the story felt wildly inaccurate. The timeline seemed to jump around a lot. Like stealing a bike in waist deep snow and riding it? Improbable. The Nazis not being able to track you down from the bike tracks? Also improbable.
I really did not expect this book to go the course it did. Every assumption I made along the book was wrong. Each time I thought I had it figured out, I was shown how wrong I was. This book gave me the “ah-ha” moment and suddenly everything made sense. Things I had overlooked or attributed to something else suddenly fit into this perfect puzzle of a mystery.
Took me 2 weeks to finish a book I could read in a couple of hours. The story dragged on and on and on...and it was quite boring. Nothing really happens in this whole 300+ page book. The FMC and MMC barely know each other and barely interact and they somehow have this deep, Godly love? Not to mention the FMC is so boring and damsel-in-distress that I don't really know how the MMC finds her so wonderful. And the nickname he suddenly comes up with and only uses twice is so
