Nope, just nope. The only saving factor of this book is that the female lead actually has a backbone but everything else is a BIG red flag. Authors should really learn how to topic warn their books. So mind the TWs!!
I will first start this book of with TWs: mild non-con and dub-con, old look on women.
Based on the TWs above it's obvious this book was written in the early '00s where consent was vaguely swept under the carpet. So if this is not something you want to read with the whole dark-romance craze (this is NOT dark romance) then have fun.
The plot is simple: Planet lacks women and a woman crashes on said planet, woman ends up as kings consort - surprise!
The planet is named Valhalla and guess what? The male characters has Nordic names!
*insert Nordic ramblings here*
I think my favourite character in this whole book was Sven, despite his introduction. He didn't care that Douglass (female lead) went out on her own tangent, while everyone else tried to hold her back, and he was just super cool.

Phew, okay what an end to a trilogy. This book follows Hyt and Eve while they try to navigate their affections for each other and the problems that follows. There's a short period of the fake dating troupe but it's quickly ignored and they say "fuck it!"
There was a stale point in the middle of the book while we wait for the peak, which unfortunately was a bit of a drag, but so worth it for the reunion between Eve, Rurik and Abraxas.
The final battle with Ruriks parents were... a bit of a let down?? I get his father is trapped to a literal chair but there could've been thrown some guards in or something. It's over within the span of.. a few pages?
Final battle aside the ending was the perfect way to tie a knot on this trilogy.
Okay, okay, okay - I love me a good rivals to lovers. A. River managed to hook me right from the beginning. All characters are likeable and each have their own little quirks that makes them more dimensional than flat. The story is predictable but the overall tension is very good.
say it with me:
It's only hot in fiction, it's only hot in fiction.

4.5 stars.
What a wild ride.
I had to put the book down around the 50% mark, as I simply couldn't continue reading. Not because the book itself was bad, but because over the span of these three books I couldn't accept that some might have to die (I've heard Maas is good at that).
From around 60% and to the end there's much more action than the beginning of the book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I admit the beginning was quite slow, but once Padmè and the gang landed on Coruscant I ran through 200 pages.
Mind you, this is not a book full of action. It mostly focuses on Padmès early life as a senator and her struggles.
So I decided to go out of my comfort zone and try something new.
The new thing was the Doll Factory. Thriller/suspense, not something I usually read.
I got to admit the first part of the book is alright, but the last few pages had me on my toes.
This book was not as bad as the previous. The boy drama is not as bad in this as it was previous. The ending is what made it a 3-star read.
After really enjoying “The Midnight Library” by the same author I wanted to give one of his other works a go and they did not disappoint.
Also, where was this book seven years ago when I needed it the most?
Okay, this book was as good as I remembered - which also made me notice that my English has gotten significantly better since the first time reading this lmao.
Now to the book itself - it pains me to do it, but back in 2016 my teenage brain thought it was so good (could also be because I watched the movie first and Nicholas Hoult had me in a choke-hold) that it deserved 5 stars, but now years later after a reread it might be a 4.5 star. Marion can be very descriptive in some of his scenes, but his writing is spectacular. Unfortunately it gives me mild LOTR flashbacks and for a book that's advertised as YA (pretty sure it's not YA), it should not be that deep (in my opinion). But despite that little fact the characters are likeable.
Grief is different in every person. Some go through it fast, some clutch it for a few months and for others it stays with them throughout their life. We all have to find a way to make it a little less painful. In this case Julie found it though phone calls.
Premise was good, but around the 75% marker it just got boring.
The back and forth can really get tedious...
WE GOT THE ENDING WE DESERVED WITH THIS DUOLOGY!
It was chaotic, it was fun, it was exhilarating, Cole still had his red flags, Mara had AWESOME character development. So did Cole tbh.
The plot was interesting and had me on the edge of my seat, especially the last part of it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this book as much as I did with the first.
Despite the red flags it's another instance where Mr. Red-flag galore is good for the FMC lmao

hehehehehe this book made me cackle like a gremlin. I loved every moment of this book, from the initial hatred from Arges to the love that ends up blossoming. Like many of these fast paced books, there are a few plot holes but it was very enjoyable nonetheless.
Domnall reminded me of Outlander. Except with more fantasy elements.
So if you have read and enjoyed Outlander (or watched the series), then give this a go!
Hazel Hunter did a brilliant job with giving her characters some interesting backgrounds, as well as giving a, for now, decent antagonist.
Holy crap, what a wild ride. Rory Miles manages to build up an incredible world (or should I say worlds??) that leaves you wanting for more once it ends.
The author manages the RH really well, and the chemistry between the love interest is just on par.
If you need a fix of drama, a bad ass heroine and sizzling romance, what are you waiting for?
AHHHH!! It can't end on a cliffhanger!
If you're looking for a YA urban-fantasy with suspense with a dash of romance thrown in give it a go!
