I'm not necessary drawn to read the final book in the series, more due to spoilers than my level of enjoyment of this one.
I will consider this my headcanon (and proper fix-it) and once (if) it's finished I might go read the third book.
But I do like Fool, much more than I like Fitz actually. So going back to the previous series isn't out of the question.
I went in for the hotness and the danger and got more than what I had bargained for. But sometimes less is more. I could have done well enough without reading about learning to cope with a disability. It didn't match the tone of what was before.
And Miguel was more interesting before I read his POV.
The first part had a very nice level of sexual tension but then it got really really meh. I considered dnf-ing at 93%.
I could have liked it, but I didn't. It sounds -a bit not good- even in my head, saying that the author has no imagination, given the nature of the manga, but the positions are always the same type and that annoyed me quite a lot.
Probably three stars, if I was in the mood. I'm not, so I'm applying the no-rating system I'm using for most other abuse books I've read.
Wow.I hadn't done that in a while. Staying up all night with a book is a pleasure when you have the morning to sleep in, not when your alarm rings before you've read the last page and you still haven't gone to bed. Last time I stayed up with a book - to the last page of a book - was in March, with (who'd have guessed?) [b:Captive Prince: Volume One 9305362 Captive Prince (Captive Prince, #1) C.S. Pacat https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356028113s/9305362.jpg 14188292] and [b:Captive Prince: Volume Two 17158513 Captive Prince Volume Two (Captive Prince, #2) C.S. Pacat https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356027904s/17158513.jpg 23581952]. June is a busy month I should not be spending reading fiction, which is one reason I was keeping a moderate pace with this novel. So, assuming I had (have, it's morning already) lots to study, I decided to go to bed last night relatively early and read just a scene - sort of a chapter. It didn't really work out that way. Now, the book. The best novels surprise me at every turn. I expect something to happen, or in a certain way, but what really happens is unexpected and much better. :D Or worse. At times I thought Lymond didn't have as good control over people as I was being led to believe. I had two examples - Will and Mariotta. When you wind a spring too tightly, it's bound to snap eventually, and in the wrong direction. But I was disabused of this train of thought by later appeared information and the characters' personalities. Some characters I wished would drop dead Will, the crazy f--ker. Ughhh. He was forgiven pretty easily. Too easy. A man died because of him and he couldn't even admit his fault. I deem him TSTL.. Others I'd like to know better - Johnnie, Sybilla, Molly, Gideon. Richard. Lymond, duh.My thoughts are not organised nor complete. I'll come back later to add and/or edit. My thought process leaves a lot to be expected on zero hours sleep.
2.5 probably, rounded up for being free.
It's not the worst thing I have read. But it did remind me why I don't really read het any more. If I had had a drink every time the word p**sy was mentioned, I'd have had alcohol poisoning by 50%.
Kassidy was exasparating, eye-roll worthy at times, but quite reasonable at others. Still, [I'm not a prude - what I'm doing is wrong-no it isn't - but what would everyone say if they knew - gosh my sister is a porn star - i'm so much better than her - I'm not a prude - but why does she take money for what I do for free - I'm not a prude - I love them both but they love each other but Chris loves me but... what if they leave me and set off into the sunset - I'm not a prude.]
On a positive note, neither character is perfect. They feel -mostly- real. The pacing was slower than I anticipated, but that's not a bad thing.
Cunnilingus exists to make people realize their feelings and rimming makes the one watching tear up. Why the hell not?
In conclusion, I probably should have spent my non-existant-in-June free time to reread a favorite book/fic, and left the m/m/f menage that got me rolling my eyes for July. My choices, my mistakes, I suppose.
I added this one, because how can I not?
Not only did I read it twice and still am not tired of it (or the idea of it, but I've read a few others in the trope and this one is so far the best. There are too few House-Sherlock crossover fics, though) but I went to an exam underslept and with much less revision done than planned.
Shhh, don't tell.
It's not perfect, of course. House is too often an observer/participant in discussions that should be private. It's his way, I know, but it became quite prominent and annoying in some scenes.
And I want more after the final scene! And I want to meet the Child. :D
I probably won't pick it up again soon.
3.5 Rounded up because it left me in a good place.Generally sweet, and from my perspective, more enjoyable than [b:Dirty Laundry 16076072 Dirty Laundry (Tucker Springs, #3) Heidi Cullinan http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1349738201s/16076072.jpg 21871609] and [b:Covet Thy Neighbor 17305027 Covet Thy Neighbor (Tucker Springs, #4) L.A. Witt http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1359499031s/17305027.jpg 23963301], even with my excitement and waiting for the latter.Paul was clueless and gullible. That made him endearing to a point, but I pitied him and couldn't really find him sexy.El's fit about the ring was exasperating.I half expected the fire to be intentional, so kudos for that not being the case.Paul's mother knowing more than him about gay porn was hilarious. Their whole conversation in that scene was.The book could have ended at 60% with Paul getting together with Lorraine and being best friends with El and it would have been totally okay on all accounts. :D Meaning the chemistry between the characters wasn't that (if at all) apparent up to this point.Oh, yeah, the chipmunk. As with Phury's Wizard (BDB)
3.5 stars
Typical, well executed GFY.
Rafe is an idiot. For making the phone call, sure, but mostly for lying about it. What a moron, seriously. And also the going to Jeremy's right after the fight. Let the guy cool down and organize his thoughts, yeah? And the I-ll-be-here-every-day bit... Ughh. Annoying.
Jeremy was okay. A little clueless and not curious enough for a cop, but that's forgivable. (But to have virtually no time to check his voicemails all day? What if some of them were work related?)
The other characters were likeable.
The relationship drama didn't seem contrived. It was mostly of he-dug-his-own-grave variety.
The case drama was a bit bloodier than I expected but I didn't care about Yesenia and her lot, so whatever.
3.5 stars
Lots of suspending disbelief.
But Liam Bell is kind of worth it. He's British, dangerous and mysterious. I'd like to know what his game is.

This is probably a great book to show how subjective our perceptance of fiction, and how it is influenced by expectations. I'm not even close to being a professional in the area - which area is it exactly? - but I find it fascinating how varying the perceptions of the same scenes are for different people.
