This story was fine. I was expecting to like it a little more tbh. It started out great but the ending sort of lost me.
Overall enjoyable and would recommend if you are interested in the concept of haunted houses.

One of the better domestic thrillers I've read (considering that I don't typically enjoy domestic thrillers). However, one gripe that I had with this book was that I could barely distinguish between Lee and Hazel, they read very similar and I was confused.
It was an interesting read, but it read to me more as general fiction than a mystery, because we're focusing more on the lives of the characters than the disappearance of the mother.

The ending went a little bit of the rails, but it was a fun time for most of it.
This book was good, but it was also weird at the same time.
There were some interesting things I learned, but also some things that flew over my head and that I was not that interested in.
Short, sweet, and entertaining. This makes me excited to read more from this author.
I enjoyed this one. It was a little too slow for my tastes, but the school setting kept me interested and I was invested in the relationship between the characters.

This is the biggest disappointment of the year, I am calling it right now. I was expecting this to be a favorite of the year and ended up extremely disappointed by the execution of the novel.
I felt myself cringing at the dialogue between the characters and I could not understand why Mary Jane was so fascinated with the Cones. I thought they were too dysfunctional of a family to be role models for Mary Jane.
This was not as good as the first book.
Nghi Vo's writing is always great, but the story didn't work for me.
Firstly, the romance between Dieu and Ho Thi Thao wasn't that convincing to me.
Secondly, this book felt way too repetitive. The plot is basically Chih tells story, tiger interrupts story, tiger tells their own version of the story. Chih continues story, tiger interrupts again, tiger tells their own version, and so on and on.
This book is very short too, so that repetitiveness really stuck out to me and didn't allow me to enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
