Ceraphina

This novella was tagged on in my HC edition of “Beautiful World, Where Are You?” and it's a simply delicious read. Would love to see this story further explored but I'm quite happy experiencing it as it is in short form. Can Sally do any wrong? Doubt it ;)

Excellent and appealing snippets in here - however, I was left wanting quite more.

This short story by Sylvia Plath is just dripping in symbolisms. Great read.

The absolute pain of grief shined through the writing and plot in this novel. A new favorite.

Absolute psychotic goodness.

A haunting portrait of domestic abuse. This novel doesn't spare the reader of the hideous dynamic and I appreciated it for that.

Perhaps closer to 4 stars.

Absolutely exceptional coming of age tale with dark/gothic small town vibes. I think of this book all of the time. Sarah Moss's writing just makes me feel at home.

Surprisingly I didn't mind the brother angle with this

Reading this opened my eyes to just how my life has shaped under patriarchy and how much it's influenced my mind set in regards to my relationships to this overhang of evil and to men, and I appreciate Rebecca for helping look beyond the surface levels of these issues and analyze myself and better myself - essentially, become more aware. Loved these essays.

Closer to 3 but rounded up due to my love for the first one and I felt this was significant enough for a satisfying ending. This duology has all the great sapphic feels.

Enjoyed only a few of the entries in this - everything else felt a miss for me.

the writing was unfortunately poor for me however I think this would be a great novel to have in classrooms and shared amongst the younger kids in your life

Quiet and intimate horror with a small side of plot twist. Thoroughly enjoyed.
