Overall, a decent thriller. Loved how Evie's thought patterns were laid out, as to how she was attacking each question in her investigations. A lot more mentions of Jesus/God than I've ever seen in a thriller/suspense novel, when it wasn't a core part of the Killer's MO, but these sections were easy enough to skim past.
I found this book in one of my libraries list of banned books. I LOVED THE BOOK. I was transported back to high school and all the strong “feels” associated with pretty much everything. Pen is a fantastic character and I could see how anyone struggling with gender identity could really relate to how much her clothing, hair, actions, etc would ruffle feathers as I've had similar issues . I was so proud of her for standing up for herself with her “this is me, take it or leave it” attitude.

Strong, interesting female lead. Twists and turns that kept me reading ; finished it in one day! Already snapped up the other 2 in the series so I can binge them as well. First book I've read by this author and I'll be checking out everything else she's written asap
Interesting science, unfortunately lacking in evidence. Plan to read up more on string/multiverse theory. 1 or 2 parts are truly terrifying, if they're real
Not the usual interesting ride from other books by the author. Just felt “meh” while reading it
Most of it was Interesting, but ended with crap

I loved this book, finished it in a little over a day. Good characters, great pacing, very suspenseful!
I picked this up and put it back down a few times because it was so emotionally raw that I couldn't read for long stretches
Not bad, not amazing. It was confusing, with how often the vantage point shifted from person to person and backwards and forwards in time.
Constantly changing points in time and points of view of different characters, made this a bit annoying. I think I only finished reading it because the chapters were so short (topical with Patterson). I kept waiting for something truly interesting to happen, but it never did. Ending was really lame
Joe Kenda is a very interesting guy. I loved this book and dog-eared many pages to come back to later that had interesting tidbits I could use for my own personal safety.
Started watching Homicide Hunter a few months ago. As soon as I learned he wrote a book or two, I tracked them down immediately. You get a flavor of his personality in the show, but you get a deeper look in this book. It was interesting to read more details about some of the cases that I had seen portrayed on the show.
Reeeeeaaly disturbing how close we've come, many times!, to accidental war or nuclear explosions due to accident/mishap. Overall not bad, but went into way too much detail for certain incidents and it didn't add much to the story.
This is the first book that I read in the series and it turned out to be the best, definitely 5 star-worthy. Though I really liked the others in the series, this one just felt the most “woah, yes I like where this is going”
I hope I never fall prey to a charming psychopath like this. I will be forever wary of random offers of food and places to stay.
Fast paced. Interesting characters. Unexpected good tips for survival in the great outdoors. I appreciate authors who do their homework and consult experts before including topics they themselves aren't experts in.
