So full of clichés, deus ex machinas and poorly written! The main character should be called Gary Stu. It's amazing how much can a writer improve over time.
Qué belleza de libro ❤️ Es esperanzador, lleno de magia y una alegoría no muy escondida sobre identidad y aceptación en una sociedad que busca reprimirte. Es tan cozy que en mi mente lo imagino como una peli de pixar. El primer libro había sido una hermosura de por sí, en la continuación seguimos viendo el desarrollo de estos personajes increíbles. Re podría tomarse como un AU de good omens xD o tal vez sólo estoy proyectando porque quiero más romance gay cozy de cuarentones :v
Es un libro super entretenido, me hizo reír en voz alta un par de veces (y no sólo por la referencia a Hamilton, aunque ganó 1 estrella sólo por eso xD) La premisa es sobre una sociedad secreta que se dedica a la preservación de kaijus (uno nunca lo adivinaría por el título!), y recuerdo haberlo agregado a mi lista de pendientes sólo por el nombre. Es un libro pochoclero, el autor lo describe como una canción pop que escribió apenas estaba terminando la pandemia porque había tenido un año de mierda, igual que el resto del planeta, y necesitaba algo con qué divertirse y la verdad que lo logró. Se nota que disfrutó mucho escribirlo y yo disfruté mucho leyéndolo. Es ciencia ficción con acción y humor, monstruos gigantes y referencias a godzilla. Todo lo que quieren las wachas (?
The protagonists are so perfect that their only flaw is how perfect they are, there's zero character development, it's full of clichés and deus ex, and there are too many love triangles, but it's a young-adult steampunk novel, not Pride and Prejudice. It's really fun to read, even though it can be too predictable at times.
I wasn't expecting much and I was still disappointed. How are these books even published? They are not even creative recipes. The first one is the most basic of meatloaves, but she calls it “turbo meatloaf”.

Drifting Noodle: Just noodles with cheese on top. Literally plain noodles, no sauce at all, just the 5 minutes boiled noodles with oil and cheese. I've seen better recipes at a college dorm.

Esperaba algo más entretenido para ser “chick lit”, pero son peleas, gritos y rencores. Lo único bueno que saqué del libro fue que me dieron ganas de ver Kitchen Nightmares, al menos el drama es más satisfactorio.
Demasiadas especulaciones, es una hipótesis interesante pero no hay evidencia real que la respalde más que testimonios de terceros.

Entiendo por qué recomiendan arrancar Mundo Disco por el tercer libro xD Estaba esperando un poco más de la chispa de Pratchett pero no se dio tanto como querría. También me hubiese gustado que los personajes femeninos fuesen al menos bidimensionales, pero contexto histórico, etc. La historia en sí me pareció entretenida y disparatada, con algunas vueltas que te dejan doliendo el cuello xD El worldbuilding me pareció muy interesante y tiene un potencial tremendo. No sé si voy a seguir leyendo libros de la saga porque son una banda (dice la que está al día con el Cosmere) y aunque son lindos, no son algo por lo que me muera por saber qué pasa después.
I don't usually write a review about a book I haven't finished, but I'm half way through it and I can't endure it anymore.
I've read my share of bad books in my life, but this is closer to a fanfic than a book, which is why I've decided to write this.
The story is about Gary Stu Taita, the slave, the most perfect man in all Egypt. By age of 30, he has mastered all known disciplines and not only does he knows everything there is to know about everything, he's also the best at anything you can think of, as he reminds you on every possible occasion.
He's the best architect, engineer, hydrologist, botanist, animal tamer, doctor (diagnostician and surgeon), chemist, painter, singer, cook, illusionist, lip reader, actor, writer, philosopher, historian, astronomer and astrologist (and I'm probably forgetting something) He's also a VERY beautiful man with a beautiful body. His only defect is that he's an eunuch :(
He befriended another perfect man, Tanus, the most perfect soldier in all Egypt. He's brave and beautiful, and his honor is beyond reproach. There isn't a single defect on this viking-looking Egyptian man.
Taita is devoted to his mistress, the most perfect woman in all Egypt. On the tender age of 14, this green-eyed, blonde Egyptian bombshell is as knowledgeable as her slave. She also has the most perfect breasts in the world (yes, the 14 years old girl's breasts are described with detail several times), is an excellent singer, dancer and actress.
Together, they'll face several challenges that they will obviously overcome easily, since they are perfect and they can do anything, so there's not much conflict throughout the story (also known as lazy writing)
The only thing that would redeem this book would've been that it was all a dream and Taita was only another slave dreaming of glory. But I skipped to the end, and no, he's perfect until the very last moment.
So to all the people who rated this book with 4 and 5 stars, are you sure you were reading this book and not another by the same name?

The story went from PG13 to R18 in a matter of chapters, can't say I complain, but it was certainly unexpected. The series turned way more mature in many different aspects, and for the best, in my opinion. I can't wait for the fourth book!
Por un lado, Nabokov es claramente un excelente escritor, alterna de una forma maravillosa entre descripciones idealizadas y la cruda verdad de lo que pasa, causando un mayor impacto. Por el otro, si alguien dice que Lolita es una historia de amor incomprendido, catapulta al sol. Me costó horrores leerlo, no es un libro explícito sino implícito, y siento que eso lo hace mucho más fuerte todavía.
For an Anne of Green Gables book, there sure is very little of Anne. She's barely mentioned because the focus of this book is on the lives of her new neighbors, the preacher and his kids. It's a cutesy story nevertheless, however it shouldn't be considered part of the Anne series.
If anything, it left me with the impression that Lucy Montgomery was tired of writing about Anne but her editor didn't let her write something else. It's a shame when that happens.

La historia se centra esta vez en la desaparición de una química muy inteligente y su relación con los sucesos del primer libro. Lemony debe enfrentarse a un nuevo villano, haciendo uso de toda su instrucción (y a veces ignorándola) para poder derrotarlo y encontrar a Cleo Knight. Muchas más preguntas surgen en este libro (acertadas y equivocadas por igual) y casi ninguna tiene una respuesta.
Es el primer libro de Hercules Poirot, pero no se nota. Es raro, porque por lo general uno ve una evolución en el estilo de escritura de los autores. Los primeros libros de Dean Koontz, Michael Chrichton y Brandon Sanderson, por ejemplo, son muy diferentes a los últimos, hay una clara evolución en el estilo de escritura de los autores, ya sea porque se enfocan en temáticas diferentes o porque su desarrollo de personajes o worldbuilding va mejorando a lo largo del tiempo. Christie es consistente. No puedo decir que su estilo fue mejorando a lo largo del tiempo porque no siento que haya cambiado en absoluto. La primer novela de Poirot no se diferencia de la décima. Ella tenía una fórmula (misterio>pistas>sospechoso falso>nuevas pistas>epifanía>revelación con todos los sospechosos sentados en círculo) y le funcionaba. Sí me gustan más las novelas de Poirot y Mrs Marple q con gente random q justo se topa con un misterio.
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is the diary of Lorelei Lee, an ambitious girl from Little Rock. She's trying to become an educated girl (though failing miserably by any standards but hers) while she travels accross Europe. Although she meets several suitors along the way, clearly only diamond's are Lorelei's best friends.
It's a bit cringey to read all the misspellings and you can see where the stereotype of the dumb blond comes from. Other than that, it's an interesting story about a highly materialistic girl in the jazz era.
I gave it only 2 stars because although I found it midly entertaining, it's not a book I'd read again.

Short and sweet, obviously won't be as exciting as the movie, but it's a nice story nevertheless
All the acronyms were a bit annoying to read, I had to google them to know what they stand for and it's not really relevant. Besides that, you can tell who the killer is by half of the book, and the motive is pretty obvious too. I kept on reading hoping to be proven wrong, but I wasn't. The fact that there isn't a single red herring doesn't help either.
