The book has collection of stories and poems that reflect the real life emotions and how each face and tackle their problems in real life. The stories really make you feel and live in the moments with the characters. The poems can make you feel the emotions in a different way.
The book cover is wonderful and as per the book name and stories in it. The name is so apt as the poems and stories are like conversation with oneself and different people at differ times. The chapter where the conversation between Gods and the person meant so true. Splinters were the child and the person speaks. The poems are also so good and meaningful.
I loved the way each content was written. It was in very simple way and I enjoyed reading it. I liked the Love Poem and Splinters.
Awakening the Rainmaker A guide to gender equality has spoken more about how the gender equality starts from home. The women leaders who have been interviewed had some common grounds like parents who treated their kids equally. The career they chose where they are not judged by gender. This is still a thing to follow in many families and firms.
When you have a supporting family and supportive professional system you can reach where you want. Sky is the limit.
We women have to do extra hardwork and effort to prove we are no less.
One of interviews where the guy wanted his daughter to be in well reputed firm in a well settled job and he don't want to give job to women who attended interviews and saying they are only for reception later understood when the same question was raised by the official about his daughter. Everyone possesses varied capabilities. If there is shared responsibility, and respect to the individuals based on their abilities and not discriminate based on gender will pave way for better society.
I wish the current generation parents will have a non-gendered approach of parenting.
I have seen all ads related to #sharetheload #weareequal They all were so good and understanding. I wish everyone should read this book.
Napoleon was a master and he was also a very good interviewer. Although he was a proud man, he was not afraid to demonstrate his ignorance if the person he was speaking to could enlighten him. he was diligent in always be improving himself and acquiring knowledge that would help him in future tasks. He was a voracious reader, studying history, etc.
There are many other qualities of Napoleon that can be implied and helpful in today's corporate world. The language was beginner friendly and anyone can read it. Not too lengthy as well. Realistic and practical narration is done very well. Good work with bridging the gap of knowing the history and how it can be useful in today's corporate world.
The Girl in the Glass Case is a book with a lot of twists and turns and I wish I don't give any spoilers. There are two serial killers in the story. The one wanted fame whereas the other wanted a seven-day redemption before she reunited with her mother in heaven.
I really felt some sympathy and pity for the serial killers. They had some childhood traumas which made them do such things. All are born innocent but their circumstances and people around them are affecting positively and negatively in their life which moulds them into the person they are today.
I loved all the characters Simone, Zoya, Irshad, Pius, Nalini, Karan, Ranveer.
I really hated Anushka for mocking Karan for the condition he has and cheating him when she understood and married him.
Irshad is the superintendent of Police who is trying to find the serial killer Clipper who he cannot fid for 9 years, Whereas a new serial killer Doll Maker kills the kids and showcases them in a glass class like a beautiful doll.
I laughed at how Irshad thought of error 404 and Pius was thinking and doing it in an undercover operation.
Simone and Zoya are ASP, DSP who are handling the Doll Maker case and I loved the ladies in charge who was in contrast and worked together and got the culprit behind.
I wished the ending could have been extended to a few pages where Irshad knows about what happened inside the bunker and crypt.
The book is an inspiring read. The author narrates different phases in his life and experience. How he tackled when things are not going well.
This is a short read. The different phases are childhood, teenage, adulthood his love life, his family. The writing was simple. One can learn from others experiences. This is such a read
I recently finished reading this amazing biography written by Farrukh Dhondy. Fragments Against My Ruins, the name tells a story in itself. Every chapter inside this book is a unique tale. Obsessing over such biographies. All thanks to My Secret Bookshelf book club. Such an amazing collection lined up here.
The story is something different for me. Mira is a different person who gave priority to her and has taken up the words said by her teacher and followed it seriously all her life. I loved her sister Avni, husband Kabir. Vansh jealousy made him do many things. If we think from Vansh's we will understand his feeling and one-sided love...
The writing was also simple and loved the characters and the way it was narrated. I recommend it to all bookish buddies...
The book is a wonderful journey to prove oneself over time and to be a role model and motivation for people around to achieve what they love. Age is not a barrier, don't hear what others say, belief in yourself. This is about how the author has completed the journey of Deccan Cliffhanger on time and how his team and other people around was so supportive. We can understand how the author was a humble student and obeyed what the experts said to do without saying any word or showing his power or authority which was mentioned by other team members created more respect for him from my heart.
The practise time was very less as he was Commissioner In Nashik and he had strong willpower to achieve and made his mind and bodywork for the same. I always heard about the Hungarian shooter who won the medal for his country when he lose the right hand and he practised with the left one and won. There are a lot of people who doesn't lose hope and find the opportunity to do what they love.
This is an inspirational read. Whether it is sports or any other form of activity. If you love what you do and give your full effort to you will surely reach the point where you want. Thank you for sharing the journey of you and your team. I was travelling along on this journey with you all while reading.
Spirit of Entrepreneurship is almost like a biography with his personal experience and the path he travelled, the failures, success, hard work are explained so well for us to learn how an entrepreneur is formed and what are the difficulties he/she face.
You will get inspired by reading the book. “Risk and reward are two sides of a coin, Reward follows for those who take the risk,” said the author is so true.
There will be failures but don't lose hope. Find your niche and work hard you will be a successful entrepreneur after a lot of struggles.
Taking the first step is more important. I recommend it to people who wish to get the motivation to start their entrepreneurial journey.
Carved in Ebony is a well researched book with ten woman who are inspiration to the Colored People who were enslaved for hundreds of years and how each women were significantly making some change in the lives of Black People. I came to know more about the struggles and how each they tried to get the freedom.
In each story we can see they had the belief in divine and it is explained a lot in the book and they were stubborn in helping others. There are some who joined missionaries and traveled across the world and give education and love to the people around. I loved that each woman mentioned in the story tried to uplift others.
There were a lot of discrimination and struggles they faced during those era which we cannot think of. I came to know about special schools, colleges and churches for the Black People which was built by rich coloured people for their people as they know how many white people treated them.
There a lot of people in history who were not educated but had the knowledge and will power to make changes in the society and to empower others and it made me think what am doing to make some change in the society, where there are bias and discrimination still exists.
The book is so good with a lot of things to learn, understand and practice. Getting the Job done has given various examples to handle the team members and how to work as a team with good understanding, collaboration, commitment, take feedbacks, treating each other in the team well and explaining the project to each other and helping each other and how to bring the balance and success to your firm with good teamwork.,
I liked the example of what happens in vegas stays with vegas for retrospective meetings where everyone is treated equally and remarks will not be shared with management as what happens in meetings stays in meetings.
Another example about Jimmy Carter and the translator's mistake that made a great noise and news around for how communication and the clarity and use of words are important.
There are a lot of examples from different parts of the world, like Mao and his vision without detail and its effects and Martin Luther Jr. I really enjoyed and learned a lot through this book.
The book is short and crisp with needed contents and examples and is written in a very simple way and the narration was so good.
The book Trusted by Matt Bell is about money management with some spirituality and how the Christianity as mentioned about money management and verses related to it,
The author has mentioned how he was overspending and used money before getting the insight to go in right direction and how he started teaching money management. This book is not only to help us with teaching kids about finance, saving and investing, we can also learn and practice from it. The way the author says how he implemented this with children was so nice to hear.
It was really helpful read for me and made me remember my childhood and teenage and how our parents thought us budgeting and made me know the house hold expenses and they had given allowances too.
The writing style was so simple and each chapter discuss well about financial skills that are necessary and that can improve the behaviour and mould the child well and make them right choices at right time.
The Five-Week Leadership Challenge is a great book written with all needed things to be known to be a good leader. Each chapter deals with each sort of things to be learned and practiced in your life daily to be a right leader for your fellow members. There are chapters where he talk about how the communication is important, hear your team opinion before making any decision rather than thinking they will accept. Owning your mistakes, having the right relationship with client, employees, how to manage time and how to present an information in right way.
There are a lot of things to be learned from this book. He is a good story teller who was explained each topic with some stories related to it which was from his personal experience. In each chapter end we can write answers for the questions and problems we faced in life. It felt like a conversation with the author who was narrating and explaining to us to be a right and good leader.
I loved the way it is written and I will reread this whenever it is needed. I found it a helpful one.
The book is a suspense thriller. The cyber war between two countries is the story line. It is a short read which is divided into 23 chapters. Rudra is an ethical hacker, lily is an cybercrime lawyer and Mohseen is a journalist who are main characters of the story. They all are part of Indian Cyber Defence(ICD). They infiltrate the Pakistan government websites.
there is another character who introduce as a RAW agent and the person asks to solve the chakravyuh puzzle do something beneficial to the nation. This leads to secret division of RAW organization. This makes them think what was the intention of the RAW agent @shok
I love how each character is written and the way they are narrated. The plot was very interesting and will make you hooked to it till the end
Everyone wants to lead a healthy lifestyle but they try for few days to relapse to the old lifestyle, am one of them and this is quite a helpful book with a lot of exercises to accomplish our goal. Reaching the ideal weight is really tough task. The task that is tougher than reaching the ideal weight is maintaining it.
I really appreciate the effort of the author and thank you for such a helpful workbook. Whatever diet we follow and change, we should be optimistic and consistent.
The book is a good lovely read which gives you lot of positivity. No regrets living helps you to live a peaceful life with very limited amount of regrets. Whether you believe in science or god, there should be some belief system that can help you to stay non egoistic and not to envy. I loved the way each chapter explains about different parts of life and how we should lead a life to stay optimistic even during tough times. I felt the book too very useful and the language and way of writing was so lucid. The author has written things based on his personal experience and stories of his life and people around him. I am one, who believe in miracles and when came to read the stories of survival and right thing happening at the right time which saved the life, I felt they are blessed and the gratitude and prayers for others in needs was something I started agin after reading this book. I really thank author for sharing his stories and experience as a book which can benefit many.
The book is about 10 commandments of cash flow investing for passive income and financial freedom. You can gain some long knowledge on how to invest and what are the type of investment what are some invisible investments and how you make a good fortune through this.
The author was sharing how he invested and his personal experience as a life style investor and how he enjoy the freedom.
I too wish to be a life style investor and got to know the blind spots in my investment.
People who have everything have something missing in their love some knows and some doesn't find it out. I loved the character Kabir and Anamika and the backstory was so good. The backstory of Anamika really makes us feel bitter. The way Vishal and Yamini act was predictable while the beginning of the narration itself. Yamini said was so right, People think materialistic things give happiness and run the race towards getting more and more money. Love, care, attention and spending time with the people around us give us peace and happiness than anything.
The story begins with Kabir reaching the monastery and describing the story of why he had come here in search of Anamika. Read to know their first meet and their story, whether they will unite back.
The writing was so lucid and the book is a light read and you will surely be stuck up with the characters and story for a long time and will travel along with them.
The 10 empires that is right mindset, heartset, social set, financial set, professional set, family set, health set, personal set, spiritual and Philanthropic set. These when paid attention to and worked on will help you to fulfill your life in all the ways. A wonderful book which has everything one needs to better himself and the writing is immaculate and the book is easy to understand with a lot of knowledge
This is a short read that gives you a lot of energy and positivity. It has 111 quotes. Each quote is so good and I like the one with ‘some people are carbon dioxide...' and ‘Beware of the books. They are the swords that can cut biases... They can renew your mind, rejuvenate...' We should understand our worth and love ourselves and know we are unique and we have our own abilities to make our dream come true.
I hope you should read it so that you can get some energy to keep going when you lose motivation.
The story is a crime thriller. We cannot expect who is the killer till the last few chapters and the ending whether the culprit is got or not is in our imagination. I wished to have a friend like Sam who was such a motivator and helped his friend Roger to achieve what he is now. People should not forget what they did, and how they came to the position and who helped them. Roger is a lead singer and owner of the band Volt in Goa. There was a shootout in which Roger, Zoey and Dev were shooted by a paid shooter and our ACP Rathore is trying to find who is behind this. The way the murderer distracted the case and projected some other people may be the killer was well planned.
This was an interesting read with back and forth current and flashbacks and the narration were so lucid that I suggest it to crime thriller fans.
The book has ten horror short stories. As am a horror fan, I loved all the stories. Some stories make me frightened and so chilling and had the hangover with stories for a long time.
The cover of book is really revealing the horror stories in the book. The way each short story was narrated was so good and made cling to the story...
I do recommend it for horror lovers...
