This book might be a 4 star on its own, but the narrators!! Omg the narrators make this book! They are soo good together.

I love this series. I was a little thrown with book 2, but it all makes sense now. The series up to this point flows so well. This is the perfect mix of sweet and dark, cowboy and mafia, romance and angst. I love this book so much. Great book! The cliffhanger got me, but I'm excited to see where this goes!

I was very interested in the d/s relationship in the book and was not disappointed. I wasn't sure how it would play out, but it was written beautifully. Stefan was a wonderful character with great depths. Jewel was strong, and I loved her dynamic with Stefan. This was such a great story.

This book is adorable and I love the slow burn between Carter and Destiny. It was a great origin story, taking us back to when they met. I am thrown by the fact that it doesn't answer any questions about the first cliffhanger, while still leaving so many unanswered. I kept expecting Destiny to wake up where the first book ended. I'm super excited to read the next book and find out where the story goes. 

This book alone is worth five stars, but because it is book two and didn't really answer many questions about the first book, I'm giving it 4 stars. Excellent writing, storytelling, pacing. Just so many unanswered questions. But enough to keep me invested in the series.

It's ok

Kind of slow and the characters are fairly one dimensional. Not the worst book, but not super impressive either. Meh.

Pretty slow. Not interesting enough to stay with it.

Slow. Nothing really happened in the story. Things happened around the characters. Some actions didn't make sense for the characters.

Toxic masculinity from fmc. Mmc was pretty decent. I had to stop in ch 11 when she said “baby man” for the 592nd time. She idolized her toxic father and hurt people bc of him. And that was only in the first 11 chapters. 😢
