fun and funny, this series is just brilliant and the characters are all likeable even the horrible parents are interesting characters. i liked Bodkin's character development. oh and I think the narrator is the bear...
OK, so this book was all levels of weird and cool... First off Mia seemed nice and her cool condition Synesthesia was described... well I suppose. I don't experience this and to be honest I may have aphantasia... so no colors for me... sigh. Her cat Mango was very sweet and Spoilerhis death was very touching and sad... I didn't get why Mia thought she was responsible for it... I mean she loved him soo much!!! Mia misses his deceased grandpa which makes sense (I never experienced the death of a grandparent, one grandma is dead but I never met her so...) and she thinks that a part of his soul is in heaven and the other in the cat Mango.... which is weird. I am not trying to offend anyone but the idea is so scientifically and religiously impossible in my opinion... I don't know if they had any religion themselves... Zach is the weirdest here and it's addressed that he is a believer of superstitions and I don't believe them any bit... so it was odd. His parents didn't seem to mind tho... and I suppose it could have been a phase. Beth was more normal she was just into spiritual stuff, yoga and vegetarian and into saving earth... which is nice of course. The thing that almost no one has ever heard of Synesthesia was odd to me... cuz I did pretty early on... And they kinda treated it like a disease or sth... Jessie was a nice friend. But I didn't like Adam at all.... he was a creep!!!
Anyways I kinda recommend this but not soo much!!!
I loved this one! I like how weird but loving and caring Percy. I felt bad for SpoilerZoe and Bianca though. I have hopes Bianca is alive... I dunno. Nico is cute. I gotta say Rick Riordan's writing style is amazing! I liked Thalia but her last decision was... weird. I have hopes for Luke and I love you Annabeth. I dunno what else to say, I recommend this for Rick Riordan, PJO and mythology fans! I love how Percy's ADHD and dyslexia are mentioned in every single book lol. (I mean all half-bloods are that way which is cool, I'd be one as well..)
It was a good book I'd say. The translation was bad at times and didn't get why the author simply mentioned Santiago throughout all the book as just The boy. The story was interesting and intriguing. Loved the equality of different ethnicities and especially religions! Islam and Egypt were described really well. The ending wasn't that satisfying tho... SpoilerI understand the author meant the journey to be more of a personal and spiritual treasure and self-discovery but... We don't even see him meeting Fatima again or The alchemist or what happened to the Englishman. Anyways I recommend it!
this was so cute, touching and important loved it! in the beginning, i thought the ghosts represented introverts, then autistics, but I guess it was just the peeps who need someone to talk to because of anxiety, depression or whatever. it can still be Autitiscs though, I think that's cool. although I definitely still am part of the sad ghosts club!
More like 4.7
I gotta say this was a very sweet book, but also quite weird and different. First off, the MC isn't the boy at the back of the class and not the one on the cover which is very interesting. Also, we don't find out the MC's name or gender until the end, so that was interesting and we weren't biased or anything. I gotta say the MC seemed very neutral to me neither ‘boyish' nor ‘girlish' so I guess that was good. (I read what the author says about this stuff, and I decided that I am not rating the author but the books she wrote, same as I do with HP.) Also, it's cool how it's written from the perspective of a classmate of a refugee kid and how much they cared to make things good and become friends with Ahmet. It was sweet and I loved that! Also, I think the MC is likely autistic for some reason as they didn't seem to understand feelings, lies, and stuff much, and was so obsessed with finding Ahmet's family and couldn't stop thinking about it, also they had a strong moral compass. So that was nice even if it wasn't intended. I recommend it to all!
OK, so at first the drawings seemed to make me dizzy. But then I actually enjoyed it. I guess the characters started to look less 2D too. So I read this for “Great Middle Grade” Reads group's book of the month. And I gotta say, it was fine. I guess it was worth the hype... Jordan was cool and I resonated with the “I want to be an artist but still goes to academic school”, lol. His family was so supportive and nice too. And his friends, even though I found his classmates at times quite weird. I couldn't figure out Jordan's ethnicity though like he was “colored” but not as tan as the other black friends he had. His dad seemed lighter than his mom, and he liked Chinese food a lot (as well as his grandpa) so I think maybe his dad is mixed or something, or Latino... I dunno. It's said that the school doesn't have much diversity, but I saw quite some tan, black, and Asian-looking peeps, so it wasn't too bad. Even though his glasses teacher was really annoying. It was fun, I recommend it to MG, graphic novels, diversity books, etc.
This book was absolutely amazing!!! I loved it... I never heard anything about it before reading it and I just started listening to it in Audible just to pass the time with some fun book. It was great just great! I loved the world the author build. I loved Sophie's character and I wish I was like her! Her friends and her new family were amazing too! It was a bit weird that she mostly had guy friends though... I hope she doesn't get into relationships because she is still soo little... (and I hate romance stories) I loved her special abilities as a Telepath and an Inflicotor. She also has other pretty cool abilities Spoilershe is a Polyglot who can speak many languages instinctively. I loved the mystery side it has and I will sure read the other books of this series! It may become one of my top series on my list! It felt a bit odd that not everything was resolved at the end but I hope the rest of the series solves that. I wish the elves world really existed and I was one though... Highly recommend 5/5!!!
OK, this one is I think a must for young peeps, the art style is so cute! I wish I had such good friends... It's soo diverse! I won't say more but it's a story about friendships, and periods...
Thanks to NetGalley for this wonderful classic as manga!
I'd say I really enjoyed it! I loved the classic original book and the movies, so I gave this manga version a try, especially as it's an ARC and am supporting the creators. I'd say they did a. very good job! The illustrations that are manga style are very beautiful and cute, the story is so close to the book, it felt great! I love how we could see Anne's expressions more now! I don't know what else to say as this is just an adaptation and can't go on about my thoughts of the classic, but I'll say I'll listen to the other classic books of Anne of Green Gables, as I, unfortunately, haven't got around them yet (come on people, I'm only a teenager, I got a life ahead of me... hopefully) But I do find Anne's obsessions with her looks a bit weird but understandable understanding the mocking she got from it and the time this is set in, but her name? Hey, I use Ann as a nickname, I don't mind at all...
First, read of the year! Woohoo!
This was a sweet graphic novel, I loved it! The art style the feel, were all...ah. The MC girl is in grief and is very monotonous in the beginning but meeting that ghost, kinda changed her! It was sweet that she worked (owned) a laundry shop, I don't see that often, lol. I don't know what to say without spoiling anything, but I liked the ghosts a lot! i recommend this sweet comic to all, I bet you won't be disappointed!
OK, so this book has a beautiful cover, just beautiful! (the blue and the title look so cool and the poppies too!) It gives you YA romance vibes for some reason... (it's close but not really) So the story revolves around Calli who has Tourettes but also OCD, trichotillomania(pulling hair) and anxiety which often come with TS. So she is looked as a freak by others and even her mom who is very absent and always changing boyfriends and after breakups changing homes without even asking her daughter or anything. Calli starts a new school for the 10th time and hates how her friendships never last. In the book Calli becomes more confident of herself and her tics and doesn't hide who she is. I loved her love for astronomy and especially the moon and sharing that with her new friend Jinsong. It was a cute book and Calli's perspective was written in poetry which I liked. I felt bad for Calli when people bullied her but SpoilerBeatriz turns out to have a tragic past of her mom abondoning her so she takes her anger on others and is left alone with no friends which was sad and what Calli gave her was so sweet and it actually impacted her! and her dad's death left such a big impact in her and her mom which is the reason why she never feels happy and looks for a partner so they can have a better life. I liked Jinsong but I also didn't like that they didn't leave is a frienship but had to make them kiss... uhh. Anyways a beautiful book and I actually liked that Spoiler Calli changes house again and she is happy and confident with herself this time. She speaks up to her mom and has a new kind stepdad which may last (hopefully) and she embraces herself in the school and doesn't let TS define her and her worth!!! Also I liked that Calli and Jinsong still kept their friendship with emails! I recommend this book to anyone who likes MG or YA with neurodivergent characters and drama, bullying, school stuff etc. Also remeber the author kept it realistic because she experienced Calli's struggles and I love and support own voices authors!
just brilliant I love Elle's books so much she's incredible I never felt more proud and happy with being myself, just a neurodivergent (autistic+ADHD so I got the double rep here) gal who stands out against injustice and wrong things, I loved Adrien so much he was amazing, I wish I'll ever make a friend like him. neurodivergent friendships are top tier, need them in my life. also, the whole ai people thing was definitely an interesting topic, I definitely agreed with Cora and Adrien on it. just perfect! I also watched the tv show adaption of the A Kind of Spark book and loved it to bits, probably the best show ever, can't explain how much I just love them. dang autistic/ADHD representation really is important. oh and also I cried... thought maybe it's important to know that too, love books that make me feel so many emotions, it's beautiful!
WOW, just wow! This book was soo good. It's written by an actual neurodivergent author so this was great!
It's about Addie an autistic girl who is obsessed with sharks and reading and the Scottish witch trials. It was soo cool to read about someone who knows soo much about her neurotype. She used all the right words, including being called autistic not someone with autism. She talked about her stims, her special interests, how masking is soo deliberating. I loved that her big sister was also autistic! I don't see that often, especially one who is an adult at university but still struggles! I loved how they mentioned they don't want any cure, autism isn't an illness, not a superpower either! I mean this was as if my own opinions on these topics were here. I also hate what happened to those poor mostly women but men too who were accused of being witches for simple things that made them different, as being neurodivergent, left-handed, read-headed, queer, or something. So Addie wants to do something, to make a memorial to commemorate them as they were falsely accused and killed in a way to apologize as these things should never happen. Also, Addie has some struggles with a teacher at school who is basically a real witch who is very mean and bullies her, she also bullied her older sister Keedie too before. Also, a school bully who turns out to be dyslexic herself, what a shame to bully some other ND... It was a very nice book, and I'd say the most accurate one about autistic people I read until now! I'm so impressed!!! I did relate to some parts with Addie including her obsession with books, lol, and her vibing and saying the truth to others. While I never told anyone outside about me being neurodivergent though... It's a harsh world here, people still judge, I'm like Keddie, not ready.
This is one beautiful picture book! (actually maybe more of a comic?) But really, the art is GORGEOUS! The story is weird but sweet, about the power of imagination and creativity, I think. Sandy was soo cute! It was short but nice one to read before bed for kids. I recommend!
I just loved this!!! It was soo emotional, and seriously the war here was much bigger and cooler than the Hogwarts battle. I mean this was serious! I loved Percy's request to the gods in the end. He is soo nice. I hope you're doing all right Annabeth. Seriously I knew Rachel will be special for something in this crazy world, love her! I felt bad for Luke... and many other heroes. I won't be reading other Rick Riordian books for some time (months or even more) I need time to heal because they're too much, fantasy books make my head weird. I still loved these times! You are one of my fave book series ever!!!
This one hit close to home... I resonated soo much with Eliza, including ADHD problems, Taekwondo club, and friendship problems... It was just great. I really liked Eliza. I was soo happy that she enjoyed Taekwondo and did not quit, I hope I won't quit too, and my test is very soon aswell. I'm gonna read the other Eliza Bing books for sure! They're great! Highly recommend...
Well, I finally read this book! No, it didn't take me long to read it even though I read it a bit slow in purpose. But I wanted to read this book for quite some time. Now I did. With that out of the way, let's talk about this.
I'd say it was a 4.7 or 5, not sure. It wasn't the best book ever, but I didn't dislike anything about it either.
Many may be familiar with the plot in some ways but it's basically a bunch of dwarfs, a wizard Gandalf and a little hobbit who go into an adventure to retrieve the treasure they lost a long time ago, and now the dragon Smaug has it. So I loved Bilbo, he was a very MC, and how he kept wishing he was at home with some tea, it was adorable! Also, he was the hero who didn't want to be. He was chosen by the wizard Gandalf to go on this adventure for some reason, but he doesn't want to. But he really changes through his adventure. He actually becomes the main one of the group who is constantly saving them, having new ideas and plans. He becomes well known for the ring he has. Smaug wasn't really that bad, but still, he should die! Also, this book has a LOT of songs. Like elves and some other creatures sing a lot! Bilbo loves to sing too. There are also rhymes and riddles. The riddle battle between Bilbo and Gollum was very cool, I couldn't figure out the answers myself though.
Something that I found interesting was that this book is so old, it's made in the 30s and it's soo good! This book is like a narration from the author himself, it's unlike other books. Here the narrator seems to have been in the action too, and how he cuts some details because there's not enough time, it's very fun.
I gotta say this was pretty good! I was very happy with it. It's a chill one that didn't make me stressed or anything, it's so calm. I'd say it's good to be read in autumn/fall, it just has the vibes.
Go read it!!!
I watched the new Netflix movie and I really liked it! This comic was very well done too! I love the art style and the last pages are just Enola's notes, it's cute! The mystery isn't that hard, but it goes way too fast, I got confused, and I think some parts that are here didn't happen in the movie. I do recommend it to those who liked the movie and/or the original novels! Also, who's excited about the sequel movie??? I know, I AM!
Well, things got weirder now... Light is being kinda awful as he is killing innocents and anyone who gets in his way... so he's not my favorite now. I do like L, though he looks kinda weird too. Ryuk is cute, lol. I'd say, I'll probably read all the Death Note volumes, they're captivating!!!
My thoughts when I found out this book came out were:
Oh my, I didn't know a sequel came out! I'll try to find this one and read it as soon as possible! I loved Out of my mind I hope this one comes close to its awesomeness too!
And yes, it did live up to its predecessor, and I absolutely LOVED it!!!
I may have a lot of 5-star ratings on books, and that is because I tend to choose books I kinda have a feeling I'll like, but lately, I started experimenting more, and you see more variety. But man is this one if not THE most favorite book of the year!!!
I loved Out of my mind so much... it was emotional, beautiful, I found myself learning so much and getting more empathetic, and boy did I cheer for Melody all the time!
This one was GORGEOUS too, I loved the feel the cover gave and it's definitely the feel the inside did too. Sharon M. Draper is such an amazing writer, you can really feel the words and thought and feelings Melody has in a not-so-cheesy and overused way. Yes, it may sound childish sometimes, but Melody is still a child, so it should feel that way! I mean I just love first POVs OK?
The first one was about Melody getting to share her thoughts and get them ‘out of her mind' while this one is about her love and feelings that she gets and shares ‘out of her heart' and I just LOVE that, I believe this book was important to complete Melody's growth and especially educate others about these matters!
Now getting in the actual story. If you haven't read Out of my mind maybe you won't understand everything but I think you will anyways as we have some kind of backstory and Infos in the beginning, in a natural way, not just info-dumping; I like that! Melody now is 12 and it's summer break. She loves to read and so she finds out about Green Glades which has this summer camp for kids with disabilities, which I found soo cool that they exist as they don't in my country, sadly. And it's an amazing camp in which you do zip-lining, horseback riding, swimming, and stuff, but they all have them work great for kids with wheelchairs and stuff. Also, every kid has a private counselor who is trained in new ways, and actually, cares and loves kids! Man isn't that just so cool? And I just loved that there were kids with different kinds of disabilities there, not just like Melody who can't walk nor talk, some used walkers, crutches, some didn't as they were, for example, autistic, or had Down Syndrome, it was cool! Melody has such a blast there and learns and tries so many new things, but most importantly, she makes friends, REAL friends!
It was so sweet to read about them and how they wanted freedom, man I just loved those girls! I liked Noah too, he was a sweet boy, and well he actually liked Melody as a normal person, sweet!
I really can't stress this enough, but PLEASE if you're into contemporaries, especially with maybe disabled characters, go READ THIS!!!
And also how sweet is it that Melody is also a synesthete???
I finally gave this a try! I loved it! So cool... I don't think I'd use the death note myself, even though it may be intriguing to delete bad people from existence lol. I'll read the other volumes for sure! I don't think I'll watch the anime though. Yagami is soo smart on his plans, it's crazy!
