Jolly great fun. I'm really loving this series.

Good and creepy modern horror with a great sense of place.

Creepy, cryptic haunted house story with one hell of a stinger at the end.

Only read the Silverberg, but really, really enjoyed. Very bawdy, very moving, and the world itself was quite imaginative.

Dual Bildungsroman romance with strong characters and conflicts. Left me a bit cold, but certainly rich in psychological depth and humanity. Definitely will read more by Rooney in the future.

Encapsulation of every workplace I've ever had, and so much more. I'd love to see a production of this one sometime.

Moving, extraordinarily readable play on horror/weird tropes. Multi decade family story with monsters, murders, inter dimensional travel, and backyard haunted houses. Hamill is one to keep an eye on.

Pleasant murder mystery at a summer camp. Lovely warm color palate.

Super charming, cozy cozy. Enjoyably unlikeable characters and sprightly dialogue helped build a world that I'm ready to spend more time in - hopefully without being murdered.

Absolutely hog wild. Some of the most absurd images I've seen in the medium.

Pretty good thriller with some fun turns in the back half. I don't think it'll really stick with me but I had a good time.

Perfect take on the campus novel. Queerness and blackness exploded in novel, moving ways. I hope Wallace is doing alright.

Seemingly amoral psychological drama about a self-loathing manga artist. The art is extraordinary, lived in settings and character designs that for better or for worse make these people come to life. Asano really is something special, I need to keep reading him.

Out of print for years until recently (thanks to the Paperbacks From Hell series) this collection of 13 short weird horror stories by Lisa Tuttle is absolutely essential.

Horrifying fairy-tale inflected collection of comic shorts. Absolute perfection. Carroll has an eye not only for developing grotesque images, but utilizing them with efficiency so they strike home with narrative weight and beauty.

Some of the most polished and insightful prose I've encountered. A protagonist of strength and beauty in a world that felt true.

Wild, unpredictable melodrama. Some of the best horror set pieces I've encountered in the written genre, and perfectly constructed protagonist/antagonist. I savored every page of it, McDowell was an absolute force.

Good fun, super fast read which I'll be returning to in the future for recommendations.

Solid Midwest gothic melodrama. I wish more of Jensen's stuff was in print, because I definitely want to read more.

Solid, hard to put down sci fi adventure with a phenomenally developed setting. Super claustrophobic and visceral!

The act of departure during an uprising, perfectly rendered. The final chapter brought me to tears by the beauty of the writing alone.
