I don't know why I continue. I really don't.

So grown. So cute. Non-conventional? Yes. Possible? Also yes.

This was perfection until the very last story arc and then it wasn't. It was incredibly rushed.

This was not smooth. The artwork was gorgeous. The plot, not so much.

My Filipina student teacher had us dance this during an assembly. I did both the dancing and the bamboo sticks. I had no clue about the historical significance behind the dance and the instrument. I'm still sitting with this. The cruelty behind it is...I don't have the words.

I cried. A lot.

Hostos is a beautiful school. It was great to read about its founding member. Boricuas from all over should pick up this book.

WOW This was the level of writing I wanted in book one. This was the level of character growth I needed in book one. The emotions and sincerity!!! The vulnerability. The boundaries. This was great writing.

A group of us decided to pick this up after some of the members of the group watched the Hulu show and loved it. I might still watch the Hulu version. This book is definitely problematic on quite a few levels.

3.5. The levels of intensity kept throwing me off.

It would have been quite alright to end at 16.

4.5- 5.0 That ending, though!
